Yami smiled as she took a step forward, but doing so caused a tremor throughout her body as she then froze and fell down, her body heavy from the lifeless act she was playing. She lay on the street, staring as the tiny waterdroplets fell into puddles scattered along the road, causing endless circles to vibrate on the surface, and collide with each other. That was the last thing she saw...before she closed her eyes...and the rest was darkness. She couldn't tell what caused the pain, and what sickness she could possibly catch at a time like this....the darkness came to her mind before she could think of things like that...

[This is my leave post, so don't get like: "Wow, drama..." or something like that sweatdrop Hope to see you all soon, Goodbye]

"YAMI!" The call came out a quivered mess. Fear raced through her as she watched her sister fall to the ground and she instantly dived to her own knees, not caring for the mud that splattered on her dancing dress. It would come off later- Her sister was in danger NOW. Instinctivly she grabbed onto her sisters arm and tried to pull her up, but she could barely get the body to move at all.

"Yami! Please!" she pleaded with the lifeless body before attempting once more to rise them to their feet. But still her sister made no movement. "Damn it! Yami get UP!" She tried to coax the woman as she stood to her full height, wobbling slightly due to the dead weight of her sister.

"...Whats the matter with you?" she asked softly, scared for the younger Chou sisters fate. Flicking some of her wet bangs out of her face she struggled to take a step forward only to fall down again. Her body- she was quickly learning- was not meant for this.

"No cradle, huh?" Larry deliberated this for a strangely lengthy amount of time.

"I don't know why I asked, since you said you don't live anywhere in particular, and it would be silly to carry around a cradle. I guess I just end up saying things before thinking about them. You probably don't do that much. You know, I don't know about my luck. It seems to be very unbalanced. Most people sort of average out, I think, or really do things on their own so it's not luck at all. I tend to get into very sticky situations and then right back out again. I've certainly got nothing to do with it. Half the time I don't even know what's going on until it's over. Nobody bothers to tell me anything."

...It was somewhat to Dr. Oddsen's discredit that he allowed the detective to take the lead. While Larry was certainly very trusting, that didn't neccessarily make him a good person to place one's trust in, especially when it came to directions. The pair, at Larry's dignified discretion, had set off in the exact opposite direction of their goal.

The Doctor was about to respond, when the two stumbled into a situation very similar to what Larry had been enthusiastically discussing. His eye got distracted by a figure in bright saphire blue leaning over another splashed with a variety of color, the latter seemed to be unconscious. The blue figure, it turned out, was a young girl in a dancing dress, which was now speckled with mud.

Severin's memories twinged and he unconsciously curled his fingers around a nonexistant hand at his side. His eyes seemed distant, and his step slowed as he ran through the most pleasant memories of his childhood. His younger sister... He felt the shred of goodness remaining in him throb at the sight of the girl struggling over who appeared to be her sister.

"Larry..." Dr. Oddssen started, his voice softer than usual. "Whoever that is seems to be having troubles.. I think we should help.."

"Hmm?" Larry asked, casting about for the whoever the Doctor had been talking about. His attention hooked onto the girls. "...Of course we should!" He agreed, as if surprised there was any sort of alternative.

They very much did appear to be having troubles! Both of them were splashing about in the mud, which was an unusual pastime for young girls anyway. Additionally, one of them didn't seem to be moving very much, and that wasn't very good at all. Unless she had a sort of sleeping sickness, because a fellow on Larry's boat over had, and keeled over from time-to-time. He was right as rain several minutes afterwards, unless he hit his head on the way down. Maybe right as rain wasn't the best phrasing.

"Hey, you there! You alright? You need a spot of help? We're just passing through, it won't be any bother. Dreadful thing to get stuck out in the rain like this. The whole heavens decided to come down in buckets."
Larry's tone was light and friendly. "My friend's a doctor! I'm afraid I'm not anything half so useful, unless you're lost, and in that case I'd like to note that I'm supernaturally amazing at my job."

Hikari looked up from the spot on the ground she had been quickly getting accustomed too. Her sisters weight was just to much for her to handle and as a result she found it hard to get the two of them even off the ground at this point. Her eyes glistened as she stared at the two men. "Oh thank the heaven!" she breathed out more to herself then anyone else.

She struggled to move to them, but found she couldnt do so with her sister in tow. So making a tough decision she let go of her sister for only a beat to run up a little closer to the men. "Please!" her cry was desprate and scrared. She didnt even have time to consider it may be a trick- as help did seem to be in these times. "I...I dont know whats the matter with Yami! Sh- she just fell down!" her face was colored with that oh so customary blush at the embarasment of being so needy of two strangers. "A doctor?! Could- Could he tell me whats the matter with my sister?...please! ...we...have food...or SOMETHING we can offer...just HELP!"

Annie peered through the window of the shop curiously, hearing familiar voices shout. It took her only a few moments to understand what was going on. She could see that one of the girls she had previously been speaking to had fallen, and the other was clearly distressed by it. The apple lay on the ground, forgotten, and, remarkably, safe from thieves. Two men seemed to be helping, them, so Annie didn't have any pretense to worry. She glanced at the dough she was rolling with impatient eyes. "I'm just too good a person." She muttered, wiping her hands off on her shirt. True, she didn't intend to go out of her way to help the girls, she was no doctor, after all. The little amount of medicine she had come in contact with during her days alive had amounted to the curing of a few scattered head colds and an improperly set leg, and thus she was in no mood to get involved more than she was.

Nevertheless... Anne sighed, stuffing the dough in a bowl and covering it with a ragged cloth. It took her a while to maneuver herself out from behind the counter of the store and towards the door, but she managed, and pulled open the door with her right hand. She stuck her head out, staying well within the shelter of the doorway: it was still raining. Would they be alright? I should offer them shelter, Annie thought, without any hurry. At least they could get out of the rain. She nodded to herself. It would be best, especially after the whole Apple Fiasco. Annie hobbled out into the road and towards the growing group of people and silently cursed her leg - if only she could run! - and then called out, "Hey-" Annie stopped, realizing she didn't know the girl's name, but plowed on ahead."Do you want your sister out of the rain?" She gestured back towards the shop, fumbling a little with her cane. The stupid, idiotic rain made it harder for her to move.

The Doctor was flustered, and quite unsure at what he was doing, but limped as fast as we could over to Hikari and Yami Chou, ignoring the flares of pain that flashes though his body. He could help these two, even if he must risk breaking about his freshly healed wounds. At the mention of him being a Doctor, he blanched, but tried to cover it up by lowering his head and shuffling closer.

"It's alright, Miss, just calm yourself down," Severin said, his voice taking on a shocking tone that was meant to calm and subdue hysteric patients back when he worked, it was quite efficient. "Walk with me to your sister, how long has she been unconscious and are you sure of any vital signs? Was she breathing?"

For Larry, it would be peculiar hearing Dr. Oddssen speak not with his usual rusty voice, but a caring, soothing one. Then again, he was in his element, as it were, and this was just how he worked. "Larry, talk to the girl near the store, I'll check the fallen one."

"She just fell! I have no idea what is the matter with her! Im sure she is breathing though. " Something about the tone of voice he took with her calmed her racing heart a little- but just seeing her sister laying there would have the fear racing through her veins again. It was an odd sort of feeling.

She wanted to usher the man faster to her sister to see what was the matter, but due to the limp that was evident in his walk, she knew she could do no such thing, and instead as she walked by his side took in his wounds with careful hawk like eyes that she had developed in her year of silence.

After all- not talking allowed you to notice things more clearly then others. Allows you to recongize things others missed.

She noticed the things that looked like bitemarks on his left hand and wondered about it slightly before taking note of the right hand and teh scratches it had hidden within its palms. Naturally she was cerious as to what the man had been through, but even more so cerious about the odd feeling she had when standing next to him.

It was a feeling of rememberance, and one she could not shake. Surely she would remember meeting such a tall man, and a doctor at that! She was certain she wouldnt forget someone as impressionable as this man- but yet the nagging feeling of knowing him from somewhere rang clear in her body.

Just who, exactly, was this man?

The Doctor closed both of his hands and slipped then into his jacket, hoping the girl hadn't have noticed, but the stiffening in her body made him think she had. He would have to avoid questions about it, and he mustn't say his name before she had a chance to ask. He took a breath and leaned down in the mud once he reached the fallen girl, his hands flightly as he checked her for vital signs. Good, she was alive and breathing.

"What is your name, Miss?" Severin asked, eyes glancing up towards Hikari, then back dwon to Yami. They needed to get her out of the cold and mud, in the least, and the shelter offered by the crippled woman would be useful. "If you would be kind enough, we do need to get this child out of the rain."

Dr. Oddssen went to lift Yami without another thought, knowing all too well that it would result in him hurting himself far more than he had before. He carefully slid his arms underneath her shoulders and legs, then stooped to pick her up.

"H-H-Hikari. Hikari Chou. And- thats my sisters...Y-Yami." She watched as he lifted her sister up on his back and her followed him with her eyes "T-Thank you so much Mr?"

Perhaps if she had a name she would be able to figure out where she knew this fellow. And if for nothing else- she would be able to remember him for his kind acts later on.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 10:30 am

Severin nearly fumbled and dropped the young girl on his back, the name striking something deep within in so he had to force himself to stay calm. His pupils had shrunk slightly in a fear, but he struggled to remain sane-for the girl's sake. "Ch-Chou? Aah... That's.." He murmured, his voice wavering all too noticeabley. He took a deep breath, knowing all too well this girl would remember him.

Because, Dr. Severin had been the one who had taken care of their father, and he was one of the three patients who he had eaten.

Giving up on hiding anything, as it was rather useless now, he answered his name truthfully, trying to keep his emotions out of his face, though he lost the calm edge in the process and the metallic rasp returned.
"Mr. Oddssen. Doctor, if you will.. Doctor Severin Oddssen. Pleasure to meet you Miss.. Chou, pity that it's under such circumstances."

"S-Severin" Hikari stopped all movement instantly her body going as stiff as a board, and yet at the same time quivered in fear. Doctor Severin...

"Hikari! Hikari!" That oh so familiar voice of Ein rang out and she turned around from her flower picking hobby to see the boy she was smitten with come running towards her. "Hikari, I think...you should read this..."

Her eyes glanced down to the paper in his hands and instantly saw her last name. She took the paper hasitly and struggled to keep her calm as she read the story of the man who had left his family only to go mad after a time.

He had then been taken in along with 2 others by a doctor. Doctor Severin Oddssen. After the paitents had died however- the doctor who was labled as mad in the paper- ate his paitents for food. Including her father...

She felt ill then. Violently ill at that, and her stomach lurched and she dropped to her knees before vomiting profusly. Faintly in the back of her mind she noticed how unlady like it was to do such in a thing in the middle of the street, but she really couldnt care.

Wiping her mouth with the back of her hand after all bile had been emptied from her stomach she stood up on weavering legs. "Put my sister down." she commanded in a tone that spoke of the dangers that was purly woman. One that told men to guard themselves. "NOW!"

Dizzyness was overcoming her quickly, but she refused to let the mad man come near any other members of her family again

The Doctor ceased his walking and swallowed, his breathing had been speeding up from both the physical excersion and the panic that was beginning to flood him. Why did it have to be these girls he suddenly had an urge to help? He needed to try and calm Hikari down before she did something too drastic, because Severin doubted he could protect himself in his state.

"M-Miss Chou.. please.. just let me bring your sister into the shop," He said quietly, his eyes closed and his face solemn. His face had taken on a bit of the calming tone, but he was too upset himself to be able to do it properly. quietly, so only she could hear, he spoke, "I will do nothing whatsoever to harm your sister, please ignore who I am for the time being. We can discuss that matter at a later date, child."

Struggling with the weight of Yami, Dr. Oddssen managed to turn and look Hikari in the face, though he could barely deal with doing so and not beomcing ill, himself.

Hikari instantly understood his want of being quiet. The doctor had supposidly gone missing after his cannible act. She had assumed him dead, and it had never once crossed her mind that the very- THING- would be before her now.

It was with these thoughts in her mind she had the urge to scream to the world who he was. 'look at him! He's still alive! The monster!'

But even when her vision was clouded with rage, Hikari could never break personality. The need to still be something worthy for the man she lost in her life was still strong. And as her fingers moved to circle around the promise ring that sat around her neck- she knew that she wouldnt be making Ein proud if she commited such an act.

So instead, she too- lowered her voice to a harsh whisper "It was my father" She hissed at him "Why the HELL would I trust you with Yami? Put her down. NOW"
