As for Jaina, she did take a quest today but finished it around the start of the early afternoon, she's just taking her time to get back here.

That is one of the Great Crystals. Other nations have Elemental Crystals in the Castles' Crystal Room. Elements such as Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Ice & Lightning, just to name a few. St. Ivalice is a not only the Capital of Ivalice Island but its also one of the Water Crystal Nations.

St. Ivalice, the capital is one of the big Elemental Crystal Nations. Padarak is one of the big Great Crystal Nations here on the island.
