A few days had passed and Direstar appeared in Barkfang's dreams. "I get the distinct feeling you don't like me very much." Direstar seemed amused by this fact. "But I've brought you here this night to honor you." Direstar spoke. Barkfang would notice many Forestclan cats had showed up and sat around a clearing in the forest where Barkfang was centered in the middle. They seemed excited and Honeystar gave a little happy sound happy for Barkfang to get this honor. "I Direstar call upon the cats of Forestclan to honor Barkfang for she is a strong and clever warrior! Let it be known to all that Forestclan sees you and wishes others to know of the respect you deserve!" Direstar shouted and the Forestclan cats chanted Barkfang's name. "I Direstar bless you in the name of Forestclan!! Do you accept this blessing?!" Direstar seemed to glow as he spoke these words and waited for Barkfang's response.

Barkfang twitched in her sleep as she began to dream, laying her ears back as Direstar showed himself, only to perk them up again in surprised interest when he claimed to have called her there to honour her. She glanced at Honeystar who had made a sound, hmm.... perhaps she had been wrong about the female, they had been allies in battle after all. She turned back to Direstar and stood proudly. (Well of course she was a strong and clever warrior... like duh..) "I may not normally be the most honourable cat but you're right, I don't like you, your murdered my clan leader, on an arena you had distinct advantage on, it wasnt an hinourable warriors death, hevwas weak and indecisive yes bit he did not deserve to go that way......" she said, having to slightly look down at the Forestclan Leader, "however... you don't have to like someone to award them respect where its due" she added. And, biting her tongue, she bowed her head. "One question though" because she had to know, "there were others fighting who were stronger and had more success than I..... so.... why Me?" She Asked him.

(This post happens just after Brightstar's announcement about Shadowsong being chosen and time for the clan to leave. Part of this was discussed with Caffe ahead of time)

Sure, she voted for herself out of a desire to protect her clan. There had been no real thought that she would have been voted in as leader. Moreso, she didn't want to risk somecat becoming Leader that wouldn't have the clan's best interest at heart. That was the best she could do to protect her clan.

Then the clan voted, and Brightstar announced her as Leader.

Strangely, the thought didn't scare her, rather propelled her to action. Returning the bow of respect to Brightstar, Shadowsong leapt on to a fallen tree to get a better vantage, "I honor your vote of confidence and will lead my clan well. Rockclan was destroyed long before tonight. We lost our home and so began to lose ourselves." She was not going to throw blame even where it justly belonged -starclan-- things happened as they did and so they moved forward. "From those ashes, we will rise again! The River has always been our source of life and so I propose we start over, and stronger. From today onward, we are Riverclan!"

She stomped her paw against the bark of the tree for emphases. As the River was powerful, so to would her clan. She would make sure of that!

"Any who wish to call themselves Riverclan, who will be loyal to this clan, are welcomed to join. We will never forget Brightstar's leadership or the friendship offered by Lightningclan in its time of need. While Riverclan follows a different Code, Forestclan and Starclan are welcome to join." Everyone deserved to exist, and the sins of Starclan are commited by those who are long gone not the living before her.

To Brightstar's comment about lenght of time, she wasn't going to waste another moment of it. "Warriors of Riverclan, to me. We will go first, back to what was once Rockclan to ensure it is safe for our clan. Queens with kits and Elders, stay behind. Once we return, with good news, all of Riverclan will go home, together!"

Okay, she needed at least one more to stay behind just to be sure everything goes well. "I name Wildflower as my deputy. Wildflower, stay behind as well. Prepare the Elders and kits for travel." Plans made, it was time to address the lightningclan Leader, "We have taken too much of Lightningclan's hospitality instead of standing on our own paws. However, for the sake of the Elders and the young kits, some of our clan must impose just a while longer. You have my word, we will be gone from your territory before sunset." That couldn't make the other Leader very happy; however, she was confident that Brightstar was not fox-hearted. Her request was only for the young and old and with a reasonable timeframe.

She's made the run between the two territories during the games not that many moons ago. The trip should not take long.

Jumping down from her log, Shadowsong started towards the river, her tail kinked over her back as clear signal to follow her.
