"We came in this way," Jordan started, and then there was a rumble and a crashing sound, and the flashlight's beam jerked sharply. He turned to find Melody pinned beneath a chunk of rubble. "s**t!"
There was blood, which was a very bad sign; it meant that there had been enough damage to break her shield in an instant. "s**t, hang on, kid," he said. The stone was heavy and stubborn, but it wasn't proof against determined hunters, and they had the rubble shifted away from Melody shortly. The injuries that revealed made Jordan flinch briefly, his mouth setting into a thin line, and then he moved to pick her up, very carefully. The collapsing temple and the too-high possibility of horsemen nearby meant that she would have to be moved, even with the dangers that accompanied that. "We have to get you back to the camp. Hang on, you're gonna be okay."
It was a risk all hunters took, but that didn't keep him from feeling bad about bringing a trainee out and getting her injured this badly.

Back at the camps, there was a thud like a huge cannon being fired, a sound that was heard clear across the forest and a screech which echoed back across.
Something came out of the temple, something huge.
It looked like a bird, but a bird made of stone, covered all over in mayan shapes, designs and armour. It threw back its massive head and screeched. It didn't care who was responsible, it would wreak havoc on the camps of all who had dared seek the growing object in its talons.
"Itzamna's guardian is free!" Artax called to the other horsemen as they emerged from the temple back into the daylight.
Anywhere people were, it made itself known, wreaking destruction in its wake.
Guardian of Itzamna HP: 600 DMG: 13 autodamage (defence is a good idea)
Quote: It will do increasing damage to the camps each day. On next sunday night if not defeated both camps will fall to its assaults.

The vast bird wheeled overhead, cleaving through trees and hunting out the threat to its master's entrusted artifact. Down in the forest below, Mik heard it and curiously had been following its progress through Fenrir's scope. He'd learned to use the sniper rifle like a telescope on the island to keep an eye on people without them seeing him but this was possibly the first time he'd ever been able to use it for what could potentially be a shot.
He was on his own, not sure where anyone else was but feeling more confident in himself than he had in ages thanks to the fact that he was clean, healthy and cared for. He could help the people who mattered to him, he could do good things.
So he tried.
He wasn't used to firing Fenrir this close and the shot went wide. However the bird seemed to hear the zip of the bullet and turned to face him, swooping down with a loud cry to send him sprawling in the dirt just with the force of one mighty flap of its wings. It seemed to be punishing him for his gall at standing up to it and deeming him judged, flew back upwards once more.
He was left dazed on the ground and only just scrambled for cover as it wheeled back around and left.

Melody made it clear she was still conscious as Jordan went to lift her, limbs shaking but still moved to grab around any part of him she could reach as soon as he got close enough. Her touch was cold but surprisingly strong. Her head tucked against him and she mumbled something but it was completely incoherent.
Her grip tightened and then loosened repeatedly to the beat of his steps.

Melvin didn't like then sound if that and in an instant everything went quiet before the sound of the stone beast flew and hunters were running for gear, cover, or to find their groups. The urge to find Lawr was strong, but gen didn't spot him anywhere.
He took a horsemen camp fine. Anyways, he has Rodney.
Going for cover, he aimed Saliva and followed the path before firing. It barely got its wing and he swore. Further on, he saw a familiar shape hit the ground and then start moving for protection.
Melvin gave a sharp whistle at Mik and gestured for him to come over by the tree he was hiding behind.

It became clear as soon as they cleared the temple itself what had caused the collapse. The immense shape wheeling overhead was clearly something from the temple, clearly something dangerous. It was swooping to attack, and Jordan could only hope that the group wouldn't be spotted on their return to the camp. He could hardly fight while carrying Melody. "You should probably use your pendant," he told her, even as they trekked back through the jungle, watching everything around them, alert for an attack from anywhere. "It'll take you back to the infirmary, they've got better facilities to patch you up than we have out here."

For the most part Sammy had gone back to wandering the internals of the camp hands out where hunters could see her lovely jewelry that ensured she was no threat. She’d paid their Thanksgiving dinner a visit and was dwelling on it when all hell managed to break lose. A giant stone beast, somehow defying all logic even by Halloween standards was soaring above the camp.
It took her only a minute to turn tail, running to the heart of the camp to find Rep.
For a moment she stood there looking at him, the dimmed flames in her eyes unsure of what to do as she strode towards him. “Rep, you have every right, especially you, to hate me,” she said as she glanced behind her and towards other hunters gathering for the beast’s assault. “But I can’t have hunters like Joy and Jason protecting me and not offer to fight.” She held up her hands, “Cuff me after if you really want, we can argue all we want after we survive, but I am not going to let the horsemen or that beast have its way without at least offering my help again.” Roland on the other hand was gathering with that group of hunters head cocked back up towards the sky jaw slack. “How in the hell do we hit that? Half of us have melee weapons, like seriously.” He turned inward for a moment, < You sure you couldn’t have been a gun instead of a scythe? > There was a huff in response as Sylvia took offense, << Am I not good enough now all of the sudden? >> He let out a sigh, < No but ten yards is the most we can manage and that’s not nearly enough to tag that thing… you think they still have any of that Titan hunting gear…. >
The two both paused mid thought, “Wait seriously, do we still have those Titan hunting hook packs and catapults?” He turned to sprint towards the portal, or to find any kind of tech to ask.

Rep rolled his eyes at Sammy's outburst. "Don't ******** try to negotiate with me." he snarled. "In a pinch, any help is ******** fine. Go get it." And with that he leaned to carefully unlock the restraints.
One of the hunters with Roland nodded and said. "We can draw it in though!" and hauling out a box of flares handed them out. They seemed to draw the birds ire and would bring it in close enough for physical attacks.

Melody's head rolled back and her gaze shifted skyward, just barely catching a glimpse of the creature as Jordan carried her as deftly as he could through the jungle. She seemed to be choking on something before her head bounced and was curled back inward and rested against Jordan once more.
Her voice was quiet, but determined as she replied simply with a, "...No."

"You can't fight like this," Jordan told Melody. "Your shield is down and you're hurt. You're going to be out of commission for days while your weapon patches you up, and I don't know how well the techs are going to be able to treat your injuries at camp, if we're under attack." He gave her a quick, serious look. "I can't force you to go back without taking you back myself, but I'd like to see you recover from this as soon as possible."

"I can't leave them," she said determinedly. "Lawr," she said as she suddenly remembered. "He was... He was in the medical tent."
She drew a sharp ragged breath as she felt a sudden chill where a chill should not be felt. A hand holding onto Jordan clutched more tightly. This was her first clue she might be worse than she thought. The grip relaxed again as she decided not to think too much about that.
"He'll know what to do."

Jordan sighed. "I'll get you back to the infirmary tent. We're almost there. But please promise me you're not going to hurt yourself worse by trying to fight in this condition."

She fell quiet again and stayed that way long enough it seemed as if she finally passed out.
"I promise to be careful," she finally answered cryptically. Not exactly answering his question. It was something at least.
