Vimya was born to two 'rebels', her fallen father rejecting the studious ways of his traditional family, and her chimera father abandoning his clan to mingle with the rest of the world. They taught their daughter to prioritise individual ambition and confidence, not caring about traditions. This somewhat backfired as the young girl wanted nothing more in the world than to please her fathers. Their parenting style of friendly but firm caused Vimya to not only love them but also respect them, constantly seeking their approval. From their perspective, all they saw was a kind-hearted and generous child, always being helpful and kind-spirited simply because it was her character. Due to her pleasing nature and the fact that she was used to praise, any time she received even a minor reprimanding she would break down and take it far worse than it was. This somewhat troubled her fathers, but as she was always well-behaved at home and at school, it was an issue that rarely arose.
Vimya did exceedingly well at school, more due to her attentiveness to the classes rather than any natural intelligence. She never showed any inclination to a particular subject, despite her fathers always encouraging her to pursue whatever passion she had. She desperately tried to find something she loved, but nothing pleased her more than just doing well in all of her classes and obtaining the approval of her teachers and peers. By the time she graduated from the Academy, the hybrid still had no idea what she wanted to do. Her only natural talent was strong flight - unsurprising, considering the races of her fathers. Not wanting to disappoint her fathers with a lack of ambition, she enrolled in community college in the hopes that she would discover a new passion. She studied culinary, hoping that such a creative class that also had practical purposes would give her inspiration. Much to her dismay, she graduated with a certificate at the top of her class but with still no idea what she wished to do. Her fathers attended her graduation ceremony with proud smiles on their faces, but Vimya could do nothing but stare back at them in silent anxiety.
As soon as she graduated, Vimya's fathers were enthusiastically asking where she intended to apprenticeship. In one of the only moments of impulse in her life, she confidently lied she had secured a spot in a restaurant outside the city. They were thrilled by the news and while they would of course miss their daughter's company, they helped her pack and sent her away with a small fortune to help her get started. She waved goodbye with tears in her eyes, crippled with anxiety over her future. She wandered aimlessly for a few days, staying at hostels and helping any other wanderers she encountered. One such individual sparked a conversation with her one night and they talked about their journeys. Vimya danced around the topic - she had nothing interesting to tell - but the other girl mentioned an orchard she had worked on between studies. She reminisced about the peaceful farming life, and how satisfying it was to simply pick fruit every day and have a nice bed to sleep in. Vimya's mind was made up on the spot, and she head out to the town of Rosebud the very next morning. Currently she works on one of the larger orchards of the region, using her flight to quickly get from one area of the farm to the other. Her speciality is berry picking, and Vimya's hosts appreciate the many times she utilises her culinary knowledge to make meals and fresh smoothies.
Vimya is uncertain of how long she will stay in Rosebud, but seeing as she still hasn't found any inspiration for her life, she might very well stay until she's no longer welcome.

Desiree had a fairly regularly upbringing, and perhaps that monotony was the result of her later pursuits in life. She found herself caring little for the people and things around her, with one important exception - her brother. Dorian always had her back, and together they got into all sorts of shenanigans. Desiree was always the one pushing them to take bigger risks for bigger rewards; stealing sweets from their parents, then teachers, then the stores themselves. With a charming smile - and no small amount of peer pressure - Desiree was always able to convince her brother to go along with her plans. They rarely got caught, and when they did the two of them would simply charm their way out of trouble. "I didn't realise what I was doing" is likely Desiree's most spoken phrase.
As they grew older, the siblings paths started to diverge. While Desiree attended Grendel to study art and history, Dorian decided to pursue a career in law enforcement, which seemed to be a decision that spat in the face of the trickster duo. Desiree was furious at first, but it didn't take her long to realise the advantages of having her sibling on the inside. At first, Dorian simply turned a blind eye towards Desiree's smaller crimes - petty theft, store hold-ups and the occasional arson. Inevitably, her eyes began to roam to much larger prizes. She had never enjoyed conflict, far preferring subtle routes and talking her way out of any trouble she found her way into, so after-hour heists became her speciality. Her studies in art history allowed her to target museums and art galleries, knowing exactly what pieces she could sell and for what price. While her heists involve great amounts of skill and planning, Desiree would never be able to get away with her more bold plans without Dorian covering her tracks for her. Only time will tell if anyone catches on to the crooked siblings.

Zenith was raised by his demon father in Asphodel - he never found out about his imp parent, but he was more than happy with his upbringing. He always had a lot of energy growing up, so Zenith spent most of his time at local parks, racing through the playground and climbing up every tree that could take his weight. He found himself doing poorly at school at first, finding it difficult to focus in classes. Eventually his teachers identified his energetic nature and was able to offer him a more tailored schooling experience, but Zenith still found little interest in academia. He'd impatiently wait for lunch time, then race to the gardens to play and climb. Zenith's witty and helpful nature made him fairly popular, and he never found himself without friends.
Zenith's life seemed all fun and play, until he became an Academy senior. In his second-to-last year, his father fell gravely ill. The illness came on suddenly, and it was quickly diagnosed as chronic - no matter how much healing magic they used, his father's pains would flare up again within a week. It became Zenith's responsibility to ensure his father was staying on top of his medication and potions - the hybrid had to hastily grow from an impatient, energetic child into a responsible adult. Surprisingly, Zenith enjoyed the responsibility that had been thrust upon him, although it pained him to see his father suffer. Through his attentive care, his father slowly grew better, but his illness would never truly go away.
By the time he graduated from the Academy, it was clear what Zenith wanted to do; use his energy to help others like his father. He enrolled in the community college as soon as he was able, and began studying to be a paramedic. Zenith's instructors were impressed by his commitment and enthusiasm, but found it difficult to teach him the more theoretical aspects of the career. Zenith always tried his best to focus in classes, and using rock-climbing as a hobby helped him burn some excess energy. Asphodel has already begun to grow safer as Zenith begins his practical classes, and he hopes to continue serving the city for as long as he can foresee.

zenith's father wanted to help teach his overactive child some responsibility, and the universe seemed to provide when the child encountered a wild bud in a local park. his father was confused as to how the insect found itself roaming asphodel - it certainly wasn't local fauna - but it didn't take much begging from zenith to allow him to take it home. zenith quickly grew attached to star, who proved to be a surprisingly affectionate insect. the two have been nearly inseparable ever since - sometimes zenith even sneaks the familiar into his pocket when he's on the clock.

Juniper was the second youngest of seven siblings, all brought up in lower-middle class in Asphodel. Their parents - two geists and a goblin - worked constantly to support the family, which Juniper was able to appreciate even at a young age. They found themselves being lost amongst their family; even though all of their siblings were mostly kind and fun, Juniper often found themself spending time alone. As is common for self-inflicted introverts, Juniper spent the majority of their time reading. Their parents often bought them second-hand books about young fantasy heroes and mythological creatures, but Juniper far preferred non-fiction. By the time they were an academy senior, Juniper knew about every major historical cultural advancement in Below. They much preferred the cultural and architectural aspects of history, finding the conflict and war far less fascinating - this was likely because they themselves avoid conflict whenever possible. Not wanting to be bothered or talked to, Juniper made it their job to be the 'nice weirdo'. They were pleasant to talk to and somewhat witty, but they'd always rant about history whenever possible, mostly to make people grow bored and leave them alone.
By the time Juniper graduated from the academy, their five older siblings had already left home and established themselves in their own careers. Juniper could see their parents were proud of their children's success, but dearly missed the hustle and bustle their home once had. Juniper resolved to stay with their parents as long as they could, happy to provide them with that comfort and, conveniently, only having to pay minimal rent as they began to attend university. It was an easy choice for Juniper - no institute offered as much research on history as Asterion. Their parents occasionally asked what Juniper wanted to do for a career and how reading dusty old books would help with that, but Juniper became good at dodging the question. During their studies, they made a decent wage working at the local library. The children who frequented the building began to view Juniper as some library-god; the hybrid always seemed to know exactly what book they wanted and where to get it. Any time Juniper didn't spend studying or working, they spent volunteering at the Asphodel museum, the largest collection of historical artefacts and knowledge in Above and Below. Juniper hopes to one day work as the museum curator there, though they know that is quite the lofty goal.

during one of their shifts at the library, juniper discovered a mutant jackelope nested amongst the back shelves. they spent the day trying to find the familiar's owner, but anyone who didn't recoil at the creature stated they'd never seen it before. juniper left the jackelope to nest in the library, regularly bringing it food and water. one day, the familiar followed juniper out the door, and he's been living with them ever since. juniper named him after the first geist prince, often commenting on his regal stance and they way he turns his nose up at most people.
