The Barboach was too fast for the Pawniard! While the pokemon had tried to catch him to hold him down, he paused to stick out his tongue and then dove under the water. It was murky, muddy and dark so it was near impossible to be able to pin it down. Though the trainer did time it correctly because it waited until he poked his head out of the water. Though the water pokemon found this all to be a fun game. Just when the ball was about to hit him, he smacked it with his tail and away it fell into the mysterious boggy water....never to be found again. That being said, the Barboach let out a happy laugh and then began Flailing towards Glaive once more!

Alice briefly considered trying to wake up the Shelmet, but it was actually Vorpal, who she could feel cringing on her back, that made her change her mind. "All right, all right, no more struggle bugging," she whispered, petting her sword on the hilt. She took another lilypad, looking up to the sun that to her seemed to have just come out.
Most of what the Elygem left behind wasn't terribly useful-- rocks, bits of cloth, a couple CDs containing the music of one particularly ditzy idol-- but it wasn't a total loss. Argyle would feel something soft and squishy, and if he looked closely, he'd see a small, light pinkish berry.

Argyle would spot the berry and make a face of disgust. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with a berry. Even one berry was a handy thing to have, and if he obtained a Water-type he could grow more of them. No the problem was that he disliked sweet things, and Pecha Berries were nothing if not sweet. It didn't help however that as an item meant for curing poison, it was completely useless in light of the fact both his current Pokemon were completely immune to that particular Status Effect.
Still placing his grumbling aside the boy would place it in his bag. He could still plant it later, and he for one didn't have to eat it.
Argyle would also take the time to pick up the pair of CD's. Oh certainly he had no idea who this artist was, and he wasn't particularly keen on listening to it, but one never knew when these things could come in handy. Perhaps as a coaster, or a Frisbee. Either way, waste not want not.
Motioning to Jekyll and Sybelle, the two taking up position over either shoulder, the boy would proceed onward. Best not to linger for to long. Besides it was time to see what dangers lay at the end of this trial....and this trial.

Starter Pokemon: Croagunk [M] Name & Level: Jekyll, Lv 5 [Temperament] Naughty Bio:The story of how Argyle met Jekyll is a bit of an odd one. After purchasing a bulk shipment of skin rejuvenating mud from Sinnoh's Great Marsh (Guarnteed to take twenty years off your appearance!), Mistress Rosevelt had set aside some time for a fully immersive experience with the product, during which she received quite the surprise. It would seem the mud had come with stowaway in the form of an egg. Unfortunately it was about this same time the egg decided to hatch, splattering the aristocratic woman with muck and eggshell. After a shriek and shrill cry for the nearest Argyle to attend her, Verde arrived and was immediately ordered to dispose of the creature, although not before cleaning up the mess it had created. Whispering a snide remark just below his breath, both Mistress and Argyle were in for a surprise when the newly born Croagunk began to snicker devilishly. It seemed the Poison-type had heard the boy, and shared his sense of humor. Amused by this fact the young Butler then went about the task of convincing Mistress Rosevelt that the Croagunk would be quite useful in his regular duties, allowing him to make the manor to "shine as radiantly as you do Mistress Rosevelt". Little more in the way of convincing was required on the boy's part, and so he obtained his first and for the time being only Pokemon.
Since then Jekyll has proven a good match for Argyle, frequently snickering at the boy's comments be they made aloud, or simply implied. Unlike Argyle however Jekyll does nothing to hide his wicked nature, frequently mocking others quite openly and then laughing about it. Though cruel he is not crude, and more than willingly to amuse himself by catching the enemy off guard. Before reaching the bogs end, Alice would find herself encountering a rather curious insect. Standing straight on his bottom most arms, he had the upper set crossed over his chest, while the middle set held a large stick in it's right as thought it was a staff. Eyes narrowed, the Bug-type had a stern look about it, a fact multiplied by his gruff though high voice ">None may pass without paying the toll<" He stated. It would seem this Ledyba had marked out this particular bridge of lily-pads as his territory. If Alice wanted to progress through to the next area it would have to be through him.

Even though Glaive was doing his best at chasing down the mud fish, and even though Alexander got the timing of the throw right, ultimately the barboach was too nimble to be caught. The pokemon even swatted away the ball, causing Alex to stare open-mouthed as the red and white orb flew off to disappear into the reeds and water, lost for who knows how long. That was more than a bit depressing, especially since the barboach was now taking the opportunity to strike at Glaive once more. Not wanting to get hit, the pawniard once again tried to run off and evade the flopping fish.
{{OoC: I forgot to change the HP last time. Whoops. XD}}
Unfortunately for the Barboach, this time Glaive was faster. With a flick of his tail, the water pokemon began to try diving underwater once more to avoid being hit!

Alex's eyes narrowed slightly as the barboach tried to swim away and hide again."Not this time!"the boy called out as he threw another ball at the mud fish. As much as he'd rather get something different out of this trip, he was doubtful about whether something better and, more importantly, easier to catch would show up before he ran out of balls. Besides, the barboach could make for a decent scout, at least for this stretch of the journey.
The Barboach wasn't able to move as quickly as before. With speed the water pokemon didn't know the trainer had, the Barboach was hit squarely on the head and then sucked in with a huge flash of red light. The ball hit the dry land. Rocking from side to side, once....then twice until DING~. This time, the two were successful! The Barboach was now theirs! They were also free to continue moving forward~

This time the ball hit its mark, and Alexander let out a sigh of relief as the barboach was sucked inside. He then picked his way through the bog to meet up with Glaive, who retrieved the ball and was working on wading through the muck to get to his trainer."Thanks,"he said, taking the ball from the pawniard, then had to make another tough decision. Two badly injured pokemon and only one potion. Returning to the school for a stop in the pokemon center was not an option this early into the journey.
Frowning, the boy let out the barboach, then clipped the ball onto his belt before digging out the potion he had."Sorry Glaive. We'll just have to keep an eye out for any lost items to patch you up with."Once he had the potion in hand, Alexander squatted to where the barboach was swimming in circles so that he could scoop it out of the water and spray on the healing liquid."Hold still, little guy. Bad enough I wasted a ball during all this. No need for the potion to go to waste, too."
#969696]Once Alexander had successfully healed up the barboach, he let the little mud fish back into the water and looked around at what was around him. "Okay... Glaive, stick close to me for now,"the boy said, earning a frown from the dark steel type. At least the pokemon came over, though, which was better than he expected. Alexander then turned to the barboach."Well, I'm gonna need something to call you, and I'm afraid I don't understand pokespeak, so for now I'm gonna call you Tsuna. Short for tsunami. That okay with you?"The pokemon considered the name before popping his head up and nodding."Good. You can keep an eye out around us while we're in the wet patches. Hopefully we'll find some stuff along the way. I can't be the only one to lose something in this swamp."With that, the boy continued on his way, poking at the path with his wooden sword to make sure it would be all that got stuck instead of his foot.

He was still stuck dealing with ankle-deep water, but at least it seemed like things weren't getting any worse for the moment. The boy and his two pokemon continued to trudge through the bog, Glaive keeping rather tense while Tsuna playfully hopped out of the water from time to time.
As the group walked along, if they looked up, they would see a Bellsprout simply lounging on a bush. It was obvious from the way it's body rose up and down, it was fast asleep. There would be no interruption from the plant pokemon....well unless they decided to start something themselves~

Alexander was admittedly tempted to check the bush the bellsprout was using as a bed to see if there might be any useful pieces of fruit, but decided the risk was not worth the potential reward. Not this time. So, instead, the group continued onward through the bog.
The first thing Argyle might notice as he reached the end of the path was how high up he seemed to be. Perhaps it was because of the nebulous and non-linear manner in which time seemed to run, but the sky was perfectly dark, and the stars shone so large and so bright that they almost seemed to be close enough to touch. The world had fallen away, leaving nothing but this floating plateau, which seemed even more earthly thanks to the sparse . But even the height and beauty of the night sky would be drowned out by one sound.
"▂▂▃▃▄▄▅▅▄▄▅▅▄▄▅▅▄▄▅▅"
An almost deafening burst of white noise rang out over the area, shaking the rocks and the ground it's power. It was a bizarre, otherworldly tone... so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the create making it was just as alien.
The Deoxys lowered itself down from the seemingly-endless sky, coming to a halt in front of the youth. Hovering there with its knot of gangly limbs untangling, it waited imposingly in the center of the platform. Its gaze rested upon the boy and his companions, taking in the scene with an unreadable expression.
"▂▂▃▃▄▄▅▅▄▄▅▅▄▄▅▅"
The gentle but powerful roaring resumed as the Deoxys raised one arm and pointed away from itself-- back down the trail. The unspoken command was clear: leave, or face the consequences.
Argyle stood in a stunned silence for several moments, looking upon the face of their would be executioner. So this was why the the Elgyem had been running....and perhaps the reason this place was as it was. Rather than turn and flee however, the youth allowed himself a daring smirk. The Professor had sent him to capture a Pokemon....now what if he returned with a Legend? This would be better than the time he managed to return with the Mistress's favourite candied grapefruit peels when she thought they were out of season. The first step to being the ideal butler was to defy expectations. To follow through with one's orders to the letter, and then exceed them. That was what Jean-Jacques Argenté Argyle I had taught him....taught all of them in the manor. It was time to make that old b*****d proud.
Brushing his cloak aside so that it hung behind his shoulders, Argyle would motion for Jeykll to get off before performing a stiff bow, his face regaining it's neutral expresson. One hand on his heart, the other mimicking the motion across his back, the child bowed low as if facing a superior. A Legend should be treated with no less respect than a King or Queen. Head low, the boy would begin "My apologies for the intrusion, however I'm afraid I shall have to decline your request for my departure. I'm a butler you see..." The boy explained as he began to lift his head, that smirk creeping back onto his features "...and I do believe it's time to clean house."
Cracking his knuckles, the boy practically looked ready to face Deoxys himself, but with two fingers the child would then gesture to his latest acquisition "You're up Sybelle. Lets make your maiden battle a good one."
">Mwehehehehe<" The Gastly giggled as he floated forward, taking up a position primed and ready for battle. Seemed she had no arguments despite the danger.
Jekyll on the other hand was appalled.">Well don't you know how to treat a lady. Some girls get flowers and chocolates, but she gets a killer alien! Aren't you just the gentlemen!<" The Croagunk huffed. Not that he cared what happened to big black and gaseous, it was just that he wanted to fight the thing that came from beyond the atmosphere~. Honestly he felt a little snubbed.
Argyle however just continued to smirk, taking the time to lean down and pat the amphibian on the head "Next time. You'll get your chance." As it was Sybelle was the better choice for this fight. Jekyll had a habit of killing his foes, and he wanted to capture this thing. Sybelle was weaker, and hence less likely to kill it while still being strong enough to weaken it. Plus if things went hilariously awry.....well you couldn't kill what was already dead right?
A butler was always prepared. If the mark cannot be removed from the floor, he will cover it so it is as if it never existed to begin with. If he couldn't capture this thing, he'd still return with proof that he had fought it. Taking the Super Snap Camera from his bag, the boy would hold it up and call out "Smile and say cheese!" Before taking a picture of the Legendary and their surroundings.
A picture which Jekyll promptly photobombed, appearing in the bottom corner, both arms raised as his fingers forming peace signs as he blew a big fat raspberry.
Well at least there wouldn't be any doubt it was actually him fighting it. Putting the camera away, Argyle would straighten, still smirking as his red eyes locked on those of the Deoxys "I am Verde Argyle III, now let us begin."
