That was the question that had to be asked when the Boss came back to the warehouse to find their resident sniper laying face-down on the floor far below his canopy with the rest of the Vultures gathered around poking him with sticks (where did they get those in the city?!) and nudging him with the tip of their shoes as if checking if he were alive. There wasn't any blood to be seen, and Mo-Po didn't exactly look to be cold or stiff or wounded. Why was he just...motionless there? And why were they poking him with sticks and not helping?!
"Just kind of found him like this. Seemed more fun this way."
"Hypoglycemic Shock, maybe? Perhaps if we give him sugar."
"How do you get any of that from this?"
"Maybe he got possessed by a Spirit of Lethargy!"

"I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"An encounter with the Spores of Alioth was about the last thing that the Boss needed after another troubling visit to the warehouse, but as one fell out of the sky and landed before him, exploding dangerously before him, it struck the dark-haired, pale-skinned man how much less stressful a potentially deadly run-in with a neurotoxin spewing death monster from another world was than actually spending time with the Vultures' crew that he had established and seemed to care about as much as he did. Funny...he wondered why that was right now?
"Beelzebub, get us out of here," he choked as the toxins spewed forth, only the intervention of the Lord of Flies saving him from what might have been a certain-death result had he not been so well attended by his devils. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"His escape had gotten him out of the range of Alioth, but it seemed as though the power in the Spores was luring in demons seeking to siphon away a bit of it for themselves...those who weren't aware of the fatal nature of the toxins, that was. Still, before they would reach the gas cloud, many had come across the Boss and his demons first; Beelzebub had little patience for these foolish monsters, erasing the first one to challenge him in a matter of moments as if defending his OWN quarry...but Kakyo was confident that his own demons weren't plotting against him.
"Then again...my own gang seems pretty intent on plotting against me," he reasoned, a wary eye leveling on the Lord of Flies finishing off the horde in front of him, deciding that just for argument's sake he had best not turn his back on anyone for a while...even if they were allegedly his own servant. Safe, not sorry. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"The first time one of the Spores had dropped into his path, he had nearly been a victim...the second time, however, the Spore was the one about to become a victim. Kakyo bit the Crow's Feather between his teeth and clenched his fist, before extending his phone out before him and calling out both Zaou Gongen and Beelzebub to attack simultaneously...their combined force rending the Spore to pieces before it even had the time to gather up the toxins within and spew them out into the world. It was a crushing victory...and the fact that his demons totally didn't die from it meant that Hinako's warnings and the explanation she had sent that killing the Spores first would stop them were true. This was useful information to know.
"Hershey-shaped son of a b***h," he plucked the Crow's Feather out and spat to the side, placing it surreptitiously in his hair where it had always remained hidden until he really got serious as he had just now. One Alioth Spore was down by their hand. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"Nothing, not even a demon horde in the wake of a clean victory over the Spore of Alioth had been able to quite bring down the good feeling that the Boss had of finally starting to have the power to take back his city...and no sooner had the demons begun to swarm in on him than another of his demons, the formidable Shiva, had been summoned and the crimson shimmer in its eye manifested into a terrible flame that ripped through the entire horde as though it were a thousand-pound wrecking ball through a rice-paper door. It was a massacre...the devil dismissed after a few short minutes and the Boss nodded in approval as the bloody, smoking ashes of the horde that had once been remained firmly beneath his feet as he walked.
It was a badass scene...this dark, mysterious looking man in a long black coat walking down the smoking street that was covered in blood, unperturbed...a cool image by any measure. During his purposefully-awesome walk back to the warehouse another of the Spores of Alioth had fallen, perhaps a hint at its trajectory? But the Boss wasn't interested in the geometry or science, only in kicking the ever-loving s**t out of that toxin-filled chemical bomb and stopping it before it killed some more people. Alice and Beelzebub teamed together this time with a combination of Dark spells that together, made for an almost certain trip to the afterlife for whatever enemy they targeted. This one was no exception...
"Won't you die for me?" the little girl spoke, sending an uneasy chill down her summoner's spine as Beelzebub followed her cue in attacking, "That will never not be creepy. Seriously, I hated Alice in Wonderland..." Kakyo dispersed Alice into the App once more...or to wherever demons were before they were summoned. Beelzebub he let stay, if only to act as visible muscle. Maybe with that, he could dissuade Mo-Po from being a smart-a** the next time he saw him. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"At last he had reached the warehouse, but leaning against the outer wall of the building, he waited to go back inside to talk to his team as he considered what the next game-plan might be. They couldn't simply stand around right now doing nothing when the city was being filled with noxious, fatal nerve gas...but if they went out there in force they would only ensure that some of them died. Staying at the warehouse except for his patrols was still the safest option, but he was curious how the rest of the city was doing. Supplies were getting very low for the Vultures despite Kakyo's initial hoarding. It had to be worse elsewhere, right?
"People are getting desperate...more desperate than before," he thought out loud, his voice low and serious even though he was alone, "And desperate people do dumb things. His devils had gotten him out of the way of what could have been a fatal blow not far from the warehouse's entrance, but the movement had been fast, erratic...he had lost a bit of money on the way and found himself cursing again when he found himself at the base with a wallet just a little bit lighter than before. Damn it! Kotori had gone to the trouble of mending his coat and everything last night and he had forgotten to put some of the loose money back into his wallet at all?! What was he thinking?
"...I'm going to have to have a little talk with some of the JPs guys that I know used to be associated with the Lin Kuei," he thought of some means to regain his lost change...and even if it sounded unlikely, in this city it was an almost certainty that SOME of the people associated with any organization were also tied in some measure to the Syndicate. All they had to do was figure out which ones, squeeze a little, and the money would flow. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?""Hey you guys, sorry it took me such a long time to get back out here and talk to you. It's been crazy what with the Megrez Buds yesterday and the Alioth Spores today," Hinako sighed, thankful to see some friendly faces after all of the near-disasters of the last couple of days. Of course, the night before the JPs in Inaba involving the two 'Gallen Siblings' that had gone to Iwatodai with Touma Makushima (the drummer of Nyx?!), Tokyo with that strange crew, the Oshu Team which had been instrumental in the defeat of Megrez had been Hinako herself with the Boss of the Vultures fighting side-by-side...still, that wasn't recreation the way that this was. There was a good rapport between the Vultures and the dancer from Osaka, but more than that, it seemed as though she and the Boss trusted each other very deeply when it came to fighting together on the battlefield. It was a completely and platonic-friendly trust and relationship, but it was undeniable. Tonight had proven that whatever they had gone through fighting together, they were finally beginning to make a difference. But the work was not yet done. "Kakyo? Are you listening? I was just asking if you and the others had started dancing for Shiva, yet. We really need to somehow convince him to use his Pasupata to shoot down Alioth..."

She drew her weapon and slashed across the face of a Silky, the demon splitting down the middle as Loki blasted another with magic. There was something to be said about routine encounters....
And, despite everything that had fallen ill, she had at least finally started to get used to demon attacks.

So she rushed over to it and had it dealt with immediately. After that she decided that perhaps it was time to get a new demon..
