Gretchen made a face as well, but here's was more exasperated. "Is now really the best time?" Surely the floor would be covered with nasty bits and pieces after the thing was dead, and Cain colud collect samples to his hearts content.
She was still looking between the two of them when the thing started shambling her way, and a little yip sounded as she smacked with her staff and danced out of reach.

"More of a potential save your a** later snack. Smartass." There could be something useful to the piece, potential cure in case hunters were infected, something, maybe it was useless but at the moment there was no way of telling. And Cain wasn't taking a chance on it being useful and not collecting, and why wouldn't it be even better fresh?
Hearing the woman's two cents chime in the youth snorted, "just do your job and I'll do mine." The words were blunt holding a clear distaste with them and to both of the other hunters. He didn't care if they thought it was necessary, to him it was and that's all that mattered. Besides if the two of them couldn't hold off a zombie while he spent two seconds in a bend, they didn't deserve to be there.
Vial put away Cain narrowed his eyes and jumped to the left, bringing down the pole arm on the zombies back as it went after Gretchen. The serrated end dug deep into the skin and Cain promptly yanked it back to rip some hide away while glaring at the other man.

"No need to pout about it, now." His tone was reproving, but brief -- because his focus turned, now, fully to the monster in front of them, bringing up both of his piercers to quickly rend long lines down each of the creatures arms. The gore flicked off the ends in a streak across the floor, and Lukas had to swallow against a sudden uneasiness in the pit of his stomach.
The girl, in the protective circle of her clothing rack, was totally forgotten.

Nimble weapons such as daggers and fists are very effective against SPEEDY type infected. Double damage against this type!
Whatever her feelings on the matter, it didn't matter. The sample was taken, done was done, now they had a job to do. Even if the others had forgotten the civilian, Gretchen hadn't. She remained the trainee's top priority.
Doing fairly well thus far on this mission was going wonders in restoring a lost confidence. Determined, she darted in after Lukas' attack to deliver one of her own, brandishing her staff almost like a club.

Moron. A deadpan was given to Lukas before attention turned back to the zombie. The smell was starting to get to him, this time as he danced back from attack the scarf around neck was brought up. The shield it offered to nose was much appreciated. Gretchen and Lukas moved in, both landing fairly decent hits on the disgusting thing. And then Cain moved coming in from behind to finish it off using what aggression had built in the moment to bust the top of the zombies head open with his weapon.
A wrinkle of tanned nose as the thing dropped and Cain flicked the juices from the weapon away. Eyes tailing the pair before looking towards the still sobbing sounds. Right. There was a civilian, "let's get her back before more show up."

With a quiet huff of laughter at the idea of a massive tentacle flailing around a mall like this, America busied her hands and pinned up her hair before answering Taym. "He's immune to it, for whatever reason. We aren't. He's also been running missions like this for awhile. We haven't." Rolling her shoulders, she sighed and shot him a grim smile.
"If we pick up a civ, though. We take them to him and then we stay there." She didn't mention Rep's admission that he'd ceased to see non-hunters as people. They had work to do, and working the other two up over Scotland's issue would just distract from their purpose here.
Seeing someone walk slowly toward them, her expression was first relief that it was a civilian and not another spitting thing. As they came closer though it became clear that is was only once a civilian.

Because it was clear she wasn't needed the Moon Trainee turned and slapped another rune on Horace. "Let me know when you're full up and I'll stop."
"Pick up? Literally?" That seemed like a possibility since most civilians that she'd run into on these missions, herself included once upon a time, were not often capable of reasonable thought. They tended towards running away from the Hunters there to help them more often than not. Frowning to herself she added an afterthought. "Should've brought some rope." Not to tie them up. Not precisely. Leashes though. Leashes would be useful.
Proceeding at a distance between both Taym and America the Antiguan pulled her bow out from behind her back. It was unlikely, once the two of them got into the fray, that this would be an easy shot to pull off. So, all at once, she unloaded her charge into the poor creature.
Cami's arm seemed to blur as several arrows leapt from the string of her bow, thudding into the creature's body one after another. It was a solid hit to the chest and she grinned. "Only better hit would've been the head."

"You," he said plainly. "-are a ********' treasure. I'm Horace, by the way. Nice zombies we're having, isn't it." He cracked his neck, listening to Jannisari for a second.
"Nearly there, I think."

Tucking a loose curl back from her face Emelina grinned widely. "Emelina. Are they nice zombies? They looked sorta nasty from here. But then I've been told there are nastier things. Haven't seen any of that here, at least...yet." Thinking about the voice over the intercom she couldn't help but think there was more to come. Worse to come.
Another rune was applied to Horace. "Best to get you healed up."

"Only the nicest," he drawled, grabbing one more little rune. Once he got all healed up, Horace debated collaring Mik or Noah. Or both. Al looked much better, even if he was mostly quiet. He shifted and his shoes squished again. "Little worried about it getting dark - like what if Rep knows something he's not quite saying?" The tiny rune glowed and Horace felt much, much better.
"Think I'm good to go. You're better at this than I am."
Melvin slowly looked up at the intercom and the voice of Rep. Was the man drunk?!
"This is a mess." He said, looking back down to aim at his lumbering enemy and fire. The shot was clear, but it wasn't like the zombie was tap dancing or racing at him. It was pretty much target practice but with a lot more umph from Saliva.
The other hit was just as remarkable as he saw dead pieces fall off the creature's body. It was nice to have your shot s**t and actually feel like it mattered. Wasn't so great though that he couldn't point and look at someone to see what he was doing.
Then again, wasn't that all for the best? Only himself to be responsible for after all.
So much for heavy hitting. Melvin was side stepping and backing up slowly as he watched the zombie and bumped into something that caused his aim to shoot up and hit a Shade Hut sign.
Turning, he nearly had a heart attack when he saw a smiling bear beam up at him. Grabbing his chest, he took a deep breathe before he realized it wasn't alive, wasn't trying to kill him, and was actually just a display for Build-A-Bear.
