Eventually Ryou decided they needed to find a place to bunker down. He recalled all his pokemon except for Kai since he would need him to carry the books. "the pokedex lets us know what moves you guys have." Ryou said looking at the device, on a whim he turned it on Ryou. "It says you have Assurance, Taunt, Dragon Rage and Scratch" he said petting Kai on the head. The fraxure puffed up with a proud 'Xure!' Ryou smiled. "i wonder what the others have" he said pocketing the dex. "I think I should scan everyone when we get to the pokemon center" With that the boy and dragon pokemon started on their way to the center.

While walking to the center Ryou thought about how he would go about training his team. Obviously Yuri would have to get the most training, as well as Mihiro since the two would be the ones to fight Roxanne but the boy didn't want to neglect his other pokemon. Maybe I can have them train together? Ryou thought recalling that was something that he had seen trainers in the dragon den do. He kept walking lost in thought and didn't realize when he almost tripped over ( again!) a smaller form until said form was crying out. "What...what is that?" he said taking out his dex. The dex described the pokemon as a Ralts, a psychic type in it's first stage of evolution. Ryou took out Yuri's pokeball and the Lotad appeared in a beam of red light. "Okay let's get some last training in before going back I guess" he said looking at Yuri "Try hitting it with Astonish!" Yuri gave out a 'tad!' and did as told, Ryou watched as the lotad screeched loudly running at the opposing Ralts. The Ralts went down in one hit. "nice!" he said while Kai echoed with a 'Frax!' Yuri for her part preened "Let's head back to the center" Ryou said recalling the water type "before another pokemon attacks us" Seriously what was it with this city?

Once inside the pokemon center Ryou released the rest of his team. He was given a bed as most trainers were and while it was small, so was he, so he ended up with his entire team in it as well. Noctis curled up next to his leg while Kai laid down at his left side. Tsuki and Mihiro curled up together on his other side and Yuri claimed the pillow next to his head. Ryou for his part lay on his stomach studying his pokedex. He had scanned his entire team and had been a bit crestfallen to find out only Kai and Tsuki were of a level where they knew four moves. "We're gonna have to train a lot" he said reaching out to pet Noctis "specially Yuri and Mihiro" 'Xure' Kai said and Ryou reached out to pet him too. "I know I don't have to worry about you as much bud" he said "but I think before we move on we'll need everyone to know four moves" With that plan in mind Ryou turned on his back and drifted off. Tomorrow was a new day after all and since he knew which pokemon he was training he at least knew he had a plan. Team:

The next morning Ryou woke up relatively early. He was quick to grab breakfast but opted to have it in his room at the pokemon center so that he could read while he ate. He couldn't help but roll his eyes as Kai gave him a look about that. Sometimes he swore the pokemon had picked up things from Ryous' mother-or been told to act in her stead. He sat on the floor eating and looking at the books while spread around him while his pokemon ate their own food. "Okay so the plan is to focus on you guys" he said pausing to point at Mihiro and Yuri. "Since rock types are weak to water and plant. Yuri you're gonna be the main star on that fight." At this, Yuri preened again making Ryou giggle "right...and Mihiro you're also gonna be in it...but rock is apparently strong against flying so I don't want you as the main battler" Mihiro seemed to mull this over, and eventually gave a balefull nod. Ryou figured the pokemon would take not being the main battler a bit as a dejection but he had seen pokemon get hurt in fights before and he really wanted to avoid that. "We'll start about twenty minutes after breakfast" he told the pokemon "now eat up."

Once breakfast was done with, Ryou decided to go out and start training. He kept all his pokemon outside the balls, since his party wasn't that big yet. Once outside he sat down on a bench and faced his pokemon. Noctis almost immediately curled up at his feet while the others sat down in front of him. "Okay so we're gonna train up Mihiro and Yuri" he said smiling when the two pokemon jumped up with an affirmative. "But everyone else should train too" He looked at Noctis, Tsuki and Kai "i want you guys to train with Kai while I look for battles for Mihiro and Yuri" he said "Kai you can handle that right?" Kai smiled and put a clawed hand on top of the pokemon's heads. Ryou couldn't help but laugh at the younger pokemon's expressions. "Be nice to them" he said trying to put some sterness in his voice ( and only half succeeding before taking off with Mihiro and Yuri. "Okay let's try to find you guys a battle."

Leaving Noctis and Tsuki with Kai, Ryou went into the tall grass with Mihiro and Yuri. "Okay so who wants the first battle?" he asked the pokemon. Both pokemon gave chirps of affirmation and Ryou couldn't help but facepalm when they seemed to start fighting. "Okay how about we flip a coin" he said after a bit. Heads was Mihiro and tails was Yuri and the deities in charge of the coin decided that Mihiro would get the first battle. "You'll get to train too promise" Ryou told the Lotad as it sat down in a sulk. With that decided Ryou walked around, it wasn't long before they found a pokemon. "Another Ralts...okay, use water gun!" Mihiro did as told and Ryou grinned when the Ralts fainted. "Okay now let's find one for you Yuri" he said.

While Ryou trained with the water types, Kai set out to make sure Tuski and Noctis got some training too. He started by having them battle each other though he couldn't help but sweat drop when Noctis seemed to only want to run away from Tsuki. 'Xure!' the dragon said staring at the younger pokemon. Noctis whined, not particularly keen about fighting the very fire type that had gotten him captured to begin with. Granted, he liked being a caught pokemon and their trainer was nice (and great to cuddle with) but he still didnt want to get knocked out again. Xure fraxure Xure ( would you rather train with me?) Kai asked. Noctis thought this over and nodded. Truth be told he felt safer with the dragon pokemon than with the fire chicken. Kai nodded back and Noctis got ready to try to tackle him.
Meanwhile Ryou was looking around for another battle, this one for Yuri. "I think I saw some pokemon that way" he said walking over to a different patch of grass "You guys keep your eyes open too. Let me know if you see anything."

The new patch of grass turned out to be empty. Discouraged, Ryou sat down and rested his chin on his knees. Tad?' He looked down with a slight smile at Yuri "I just....I didn't know we'd have to train this much" he said pulling out grass and shredding it between his fingers. It felt like he had been at this for a long time and he hardly saw any pokemon. Yesterday they couldn't wait to try to attack me, the boy thought a bit annoyedand today that I need them they're hiding. Yuri jumped on his lap which made him smile Tad Lotad Tad he said and Ryou chuckled. "yeah alright I guess I did promise you" he said standing up "come one let's see if we can find you a battle."

Finding a fight for Yuri turned out to be harder than Ryou thought. He looked from one patch of grass to the other but simply couldn't find any pokemon to battle. "We'll find one don't worry" he assured the Lotad. Finally when they reached the back of the city he caught movement off the corner of his eye. "Over there!" he said taking off, his pokemon close behind. Team:

Ryou couldn't help but stare as he found yet another Ralts. He sure was finding a lot of those. "Alright Yuri, you're up!" the boy said pointing at the Ralts. Yuri gave a 'tad' in response and jumped in front of her trainer. "Use Astonish!" Ryou said smiling as Yuri did as told. The lotad ran at the opposing Ralts and Ryou couldn't help but wince when the hit connected. "Yeah way to go!" the boy cheered as the Ralts went down in one hit.
Meanwhile back with Kai, the dragon pokemon was now training with Tsuki by having the little pokemon try to attack him. Kai dodged easily most of the attacks due to being of a higher level but still let himself take a few hits. Noctis, who was done with his turn in training was napping nearby.

After that battle, Ryou decided to sit down and have some water. "So now it's Mihiro's turn again" he said looking over to the little Wingull. He suddenly got an idea. "Hey Mihiro, can you fly up and see if you can find a battle that way?" After all, from up high, maybe Mihiro would be able to find an opponent faster than he would on his own two legs. With a cry, Mihiro flew up. He didn't go too high and Ryou was quick to run after her along with Yuri. "Okay let's find us a battle!"

Following Mihiro led Ryou back to the gym in town. Ryou glanced at it. His plan so far was to battle Roxanne first, but if there was a gym here shouldn't he just battle this one? He walked towards it and hesitated for a bit before knocking on the door. "Excuse me but ....who's the gym leader here?" Ryou fought the urge to back down when an adult with a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses seemed to answer him. 'How many badges you got kid?' "No..none yet?" Ryou said getting a bit defensive "I just started, that's why I'm here." 'you're gonna need at least four badges to defeat Norman. Come back when you're a bit older' Ryou pouted as the door was slammed in his face. Well okay....so apparently he couldn't just challenge the closest gym. Back to fighting Roxanne it is, he thought turning on his heel.

Looking around Ryou realized he had lost sight of Mihiro. "Where is she?" the boy asked Yuri looking around "she couldn't have gone too far right?" Yuri gave the equivalent of what the little pokemon could give to a shrug and Ryou worried his lip between his teeth. He didn't want to lose his pokemon. What if Mihiro had gone too far? A cry from above made him look up and he saw Mihiro a few ways away. "There she is!" Mihiro gave another cry and dove down to the ground, which made Ryou stare. "I think...I think she found someone to battle!" he said taking off towards the wingull. 'Tad!' Yuri agreed following closely after him.

Ryou finally caught up with Mihiro he found the little wingull fighting another water pokemon. Surkskit, his pokedex supplied .Surskit inhabits ponds, rivers, and similar wetlands. They move about as though skating the water surface. "Oh wow...it's so pretty" Ryou murmured almost feeling sad he had to fight it. He would have been liked to be able to catch one. But he had to fight it so he called out an attack. "Okay um Mihiro use Quick Attack!" Mihiro dived down and tackled the blue pokemon knocking it clear back. "Good job" he said petting the wingull when it landed back on his arms.

After that last battle Ryou decided they were due for a break. He went back to where Kai Tsuki and Noctis were training. Well Kai and Tsuki were trying, Noctis was snoozing nearby. "How bout we have lunch" he said to the whole team, smiling when he got affirmatives all around. He set out the pokemon food and a sandwich he had gotten from a vending machine at the pokemon center for himself. Munching on it, he took out the book he had gotten on Roxanne. "That's who you guys are gonna be fighting" he said showing Mihiro and Yuri a picture of her geodude and then her nosepass. "You guys think you can beat them?" Mihiro looked uncertain but Yuri crowed self assuredly and after a bit, the wingull joined her. "Yeah I hope so too."
