Samantha turned in all directions, shining the lighter's light in front of her with each pass. "Heidi?" It sounded like her, but something made it difficult to tell... was it just her nerves? "I heard you weren't taking care of yourself, I I was sent... well, I came to check on you. I was worried... I've been worried all week." She turned again, facing... nothing. Again. "Stop playing these game, Heidi... I don't care what you think is wrong, you're still my friend. That's all that matters..." She looked back in the direction of the door... it seemed closer now than she originally thought. Yes, it was probably her nerves...

"Sent? they sent you?" The voice was a low dangerous growl," What is it they want now? I have nothing more to give!" The last words could almost echo in the room. The low rumbling growls continued," I can hear your heart beat faster , and smell the sweat form on your brow. If you came to check that I am alive, then I am alive, now leave! There is far more wrong here than you think so listen to your fear and leave! RING THAT DAMN BELL."
Now the movement around Samantha seemed to pattern, like an animal hunting prey. The threatening growls inly grew louder and stronger, the last word uttered for the moment was a feral: "Leave."

Samantha flinched, nearly dropping the lighter. "Heidi, I only meant--" The growl silenced her. In the overbearing darkness, she could just barely make out a figure... and it seemed much larger than the girl she knew to be Heidi. The figure blended back into the shadows, becoming one with them again...
At the instruction to "leave", Samantha turned on her heel and ran. The flame of her lighter was snuffed out as the passing wind extinguished it, while she bolted for the stairs she had just come from. The light played tricks on her eyes, and her foot caught the first step, sending her flat onto her stomach with a loud thud. She made a pained noise, holding her ribs, a bit of blood trickling from the bridge of her nose. Quickly her hands patted against the wall, until they felt something smooth and metallic-- she hit it. The bell was rung.

There was a loud roar and the following steps. As soon as the bell was rang, a figure landed down from above the trapdoor, "HEY!" The steps behind stopped with another loud hiss like growl. Karine was standing over Samantha, holding a black spear. "Back up, furry." Farona slid down the ladder, landing much more silently than her winged friend. A similar black trident appeared in her hand. "Heidi, back away. You know we won't let you touch a single strand of her hair." A feral guttural sound was the response, Farona held out a hand, igniting a black flame. Heidi yelped at the sudden light, flinching and yanking the hood of her sweater over her face, taking a step back. Karine and Farona remained flanking Samantha on the floor. For a bit, Heidi remained with her hands pulling down the hood over her face slightly hunched over, panting like an animal.
Even though most of her face was covered by her hand and hood it was easy to see the sharp teeth behind the gulps of breath, and the slightly clawed nails holding her hood so fiercely.

After ringing the bell, Samantha turned to face her attacker. She crawled backwards up the steps, reaching the top one just as Karine landed beside her, then Farona. She watched them both, stunned as either performed some arcane magic, like witches of old fairy tales.
Beyond the light of their combined fire, Sam could just barely see Heidi's figure again. There was something definitely wrong about her now, something vicious and twisted. It wasn't the friend she once knew, at least for now. Scared, She quickly pulled herself to her feet and put some steps between herself and the twin witches, until she struck the ladder. "K-Karine-- Farona-- let's go...!" She blinked hastily. The auras of static and malice were back... but beyond them, something much darker brewed. "Come on!!" Samantha turned, and began to ascend the ladder's rungs.

"Go!" Farona responded, the flame growing stronger. Karine nodded and ran back, jumping up and batting her wings. She slid past Samantha, landing above her and reaching into the trapdoor to pull the small girl up into safety. Farona glanced over her shoulder, then to Heidi who was finally growing used to the light. She killed the light and ran for it, jumping up a wrung or two, trying to hurry up.
She reached up, took Karine's hand, then screamed. Heidi had caught her leg with the claws, and was pulling down on her. She gasped in pain," s**t! Karine!" 'I'm not letting go! HAZUMI ANEI!" Karine yelled. Anei had slid down by them, putting half her body down and wrapping her arms around Farona, though that earned a swipe of claws to the face. The red ears and tail popped up,"HAZUMI FOR GOD'S SAKE HURRY! KARINE GRAB ME." The short blonde was to the side, she shoved a desk into the trap door. It hit Anei pretty bad, it came to down to hit Heidi worse.
Farona scampered up, unscathed thanks to her now unconscious teacher's protection, as Karine reeled them both in. Hazumi slammed the door shut and locked all the safeties on.
There was the sound of the students heavy breathing, and the banging on the trap door accompanied by growls and roars. Karine was holding Aneu, Hazumi sitting on the trap door, and Farona on all four panting in fear.

Now on her rear, Samantha too was panting wildly. She'd been helpless in defending both herself and any of her fellow students from Heidi. Using her sleeve, she wiped some blood away from her face- then winced visibly. Her nose might be broken, but she'd deal with that later. Her ribs didn't feel broken however, so she could be thankful for that.
"Teacher... Farona?" She eventually pulled herself forward, crawling a little closer to the rest of the group. She was beside Farona now, and put her hand on the girl's hip reassuringly. "Are you guys okay? ... Has she... done that before?"

Karine and Hazumi were busying themselves taking Anei to the one couch they had. Farona nodded to Samantha, and rolled to sit on her rear as well. She too flinch when her foot moved. "Ouch-" She looked over her leg. It had a long set of claw shaped gashes down her thigh and calf, her ankle was a bloody mess were Heidi had hanged off her. That too may be broken," A...ah... she has... not this bad." Farona rested there, trying not to lose her head at that much of her blood all over the place. "K...k..karine how is the teacher?" "The desk knocked her block off. She's bleeding too." She responded. "I will run for more medical supplies." Hazumi left the room in a hurry. "She had attacked us before but never like this," the black haired student gulped air, about to start hyperventilating. "A-ah...never in human form either- OhmygodohmygodI'mgoingtodieagain-" 'Farona? Calm down, calm Down!" Karine came around kneeling between her classmates knees, so as to block her view of her leg. She took her face in her hands, forcing her to look at herself," Shhh, shhh... You are going to be fine, alright? Breath, come on, breath." A small black aura, like the one Samantha had seen began to form around her, Farona's eyes burning that odd honey color. "Calm down, breath."

"Karine?" Samantha looked from one student to the other, worried and confused. She didn't know what to do... a wound like this would need serious medical attention. Just like Seijin...
That's when she noticed it. The dark aura had returned, and it made her shudder deeply. She suddenly wanted to get away from the two as quickly as possible, but made herself stay firm. "Karine... will she be okay? Will the supplies from the nurse's station be enough?" Speaking from experience, Farona should be on her way to the hospital as soon as possible. "And... what is that light?"

"Of course she'll be fine, Farona is stronger than me-" Karine was still peering into her eyes deeply, cupping her face. The other student, however, began to limpen from the blood loss. She was staring almost gone from the shock, but her breathing had slowed, "Shhh, its okay. Go ahead and sleep, get some rest and when You wake up , everything will be alright..."
With said words, Farona went completely unconscious, passing out against Karine's frame. The energy extinguished. "That was just a manifestation of her magic as far as I know..." She cradled her friend dearly," Since her cards became a thing, Farona is more scared than ever to be inflicted serious damage. I think whatever her cards were, they died pretty badly, so being hurt like this must trigger her." Farona was hanging like a rug against her friend who hugged her.
"Samantha, we are the bad guys," Karine explained, now that they were mostly alone in a room filled with unconscious people, "Whatever they say, we are the bad guys. Our cards are demons and exiles, we are not the heroes of the story."
"Farona is some demon of temptation, Anei is the leader of some exile group , Tabitha is an evil scientist magician, Heidi is her beast creation, Hazumi is some kind of info broker and I am a demon of sin," Karine responded.

Now she knew she was stuck in a fantasy. Samantha stared at Karine, a little dumbfounded and at a loss for words. She looked at Farona's sleeping form, then at the large gashes in her leg, and hoped to whatever god there may be that Karine was right.
"There's no such thing as heroes and villains..." Samantha said, struggling to stand. "Whatever they are... working with them seems to be the only way. Anei said she could help... help to control these powers. Surely that means something, right? And if we're in control, then what we do with the other person's power is up to us..."
"... What am I supposed to do?" Holding her side, Samantha turned her head to face Anei. "I don't really know who or what to trust... and I think I'm going crazy. There must be something I can do to... help. To make things better..." Her gaze fell. "I want to fix things, but I don't know how..."

"I don't know what to say, or tell you..." Karine let Farina sleep. The growls had quieted down substantially, maybe even gone fully silent. "I think we have all lost some of our minds." Hazumi returned, opening the door and locking it. "I brought some things!" She brought some medical boxes to Farona's side. "How bad is her leg?" "Pretty bad." "That's specific." Hazumi knelt by Farona to inspect the wounds. After a minute she looked up,"Its useless, she needs to see a medic." "The Nurse." "Ein? Or what's her name." "She is friends with Anei, maybe she could help!"

"I could go fetch her, if you'd like..." Samantha offered, backing away from the trio to give them the necessary space. "I know where the nurse's office is, I pass it every day on the way to Bio. That is... If she's friends with Anei, does she know of the cards?" Looking sideways at the couch, she added, "The teacher will need to be looked at as well... that blow to the head might have concussed her."
"Just... be careful around Heidi. Nobody should go down there again until everyone is accounted for... speaking of which, where is Tabitha?"

"Yes she knows lf the cards." Hazumi nodded, wrapping a bundle of bandages around Farona's leg. "Go get her Samantha, we will talk more later!Go or she will bleed out." "I will send her a text, so she knows you are on your way, update her on the way back." "We can worry about Tabitha later."
---Meanwhile.
"The gashes seem to not be healing." A tall blonde was examining Maria's back. The teenager was sitting on the counter of the kitchen of her friend's home, holding her shirt to her exposed chest. Her top clothes were next to her untidily making a pile. "The flesh is not looking remotely healed..."
Clicking the small light off, the young woman set it to the side, along with the tweezers she had used to move the flesh a bit despite Maria's small grimaces. "I think the wounds will stay open as long as her wings remain, Lucille," she cleaned the slightly bloodied tweezers. "I can figure out the best way to bandage it, but you will have to keel cleaning and sanitizing it like you have."

Samantha nodded, "Alright, I'll be back soon!" spun on her heel, and ran out of the room. The nurse's office was on the other side of the school, and even at full sprint, it took her more than a few minutes to reach the office. Winded and gasping for breath (made worse by the pain in her ribs from her fall), Samantha knocked rapidly upon the door.
"Hey! Hey nurse!" She knocked again, "It's Farona-- she's hurt! Uh... uh, I think Hazumi sent you a text? Hello!"
---
"I was afraid of that..." Said another blonde, leaning on the counter from the other direction. "I was hoping the wounds would close on their own, but it's been over a week now... And they stayed the same!" She sounded almost close to tears. "I did everything I knew how to do but I'm no nurse like you, Heather..."
Lucy moved around the counter, stepping before Maria with a disheartened look on her face. "But I'll keep taking good care of you, I promise! I... I won't ever leave your side, okay? ... Thanks for helping, Sis..."
