"Not really," he replied. He wasn't sure, but it seemed like he had been himself hardly any time at all. He wasn't even sure who 'he' was. It seemed important, but distant at the same time.
"Just us. And these lights." He gestured at the other shadowy figures chasing the faint glows.
"Vane's a nice name," he added as an afterthought. "A strong name. I like it."

Raumias found herself in a place with glowing lights, warmth trickling down from them. The landscape seemed barren, and though she did not really understand why, she knew that it did not bother her. It wasn't a bad thing, just... some very small sliver of herself, she felt an offness that wasn't helped by the notion that whatever those red lights were, they were slumbering. When they woke, whose side would they be on?
Surely, theirs: they bore the red core of Ruin's Goddess, would their goddess not protect them? And that was a good question in and of itself; Raumias did not think to ask it.
In fact, Raumias had been charged with finding fragments, like the others had, to solidify her form. To make her more whole. She had already lost the togetherness of the fog, so why not take a chance and make her more herself, whatever that meant?

As he carefully retraced his steps, something glinted from the corner of his eye. It was in his hand before he realized he'd reached for it. y' got spikes in y'r arms he heard. Absently he looked down at his arms and found he didn't.

Raumias began to hum to herself, under her breath, as she chased after the fragments. She wasn't in a particular hurry, which is probably why she wasn't exactly pressed for time, but she saw the other grey forms wandering around, and thought: Would it be nice, if we were friends?
She lifted a hand up, pausing, as if to wave to one of them. No one in particular, really, just ... to someone that was not her.

Vane offered the other man a small smile as his fingers brushed against another fragment.
"--man, or--a Marine?"
Though the words didn't mean anything to him, the accompanying feeling of warmth was certainly welcome.
"Thank you," he replied. "I like yours, too. It fits..." He didn't really know how to finish that thought. They were all mostly the same, but still separate from each other. "It's yours," he said finally. "Have you been down there yet?" He asked, pointing to the glowing red ground further towards the middle of the landscape.

"These are, ah, tricky to catch," she lamented aloud, darting after one. Finally, her hands closed around it, and she secured the fragment to herself, pleased. So this was how it would go.
She should not be distracted by wanting to contact the others. It would put her off her concentration, and she clearly did not want that.

Well, there you have it: she'd only just decided she'd be diligent and focus, and now someone'd answered her silent call for company. "You just missed one, so I'd say yes?" she teased, her tone flat-- it was actually kind of hard to tell she was teasing, probably. Maybe not.
"How long do you think this will take us? I want to find out what's out there, in those... expanses," she suggested, gesturing to the general beyond areas of their world, and preparing to full-body leap at a fragment.
She ended up sprawled out on the floor, rolling over to look upwards.

He blinked, then turned his gaze downwards before scratching his head. "I did?" Well, considering he wasn't actively searching, maybe he had missed more than a few. "Wasn't really looking," he admitted with a shrug.
He scratched at his face, "Dunno 'bout the expanse. 'M trying to memorize this place first. If y' want me to help y' look, 'm fine with that." He offered. Could he really, though?
