@Trachea man that's wayyyy back haha. and I would like to read the star wars comics, and some books. I read a bit of revenge of the sith book and was surprised. didn't know obi wan had Anakin beat mid-battle. o.o

lmao@avengers arena. haven't heard of it..care to give some pieces of info here and there?

@wanderer yeah one comic I think...I think I had or just saw at a 7-11 when I was a young lad was a batman comic..and kitty pryde's awesome. and I wanna read hawkeye as well.

@fallen for sure. number 2 imo is too beast. I told my mom who haven't seen them all she needs to do is watch 1 and 2..3 she can let someone else watch lol

@sean. all good man. I don't think I was holding anyone up but working on another post right now.

so I downloaded injustice and played the demo..feels faster than mk9 and its pretty sick. it does something I've never seen in a fighting game which is showing frame data O.O 3 chars you can play(bruce wayne, wonder woman, lex luthor). haven't played batman, wonder woman i'm liking, and im thinking that lex luthor is going to be nasty from the few rounds I played him.

...any1 else play it?

Think the Hunger Games, but with teenage superheroes, pointless gorier shock deaths(on children, no less), and completely missing the point in general.

Like I'm not even kidding, Marvel didn't even pretend the entire book wasn't just a Hunger Games/Battle Royale ripoff, Arcade says it up front in the very first issue, the editor all but says it in the letters sections, and the second issue has a cover that's based on the movie poster for Hunger Games(the first issue is based on the movie poster for Battle Royale).

It's just a really bad comic overall and its premise all but guarantees that many of my favorite characters in Marvel's history will probably die(namely X-23, Nico Minoru, Chase Stein, Darkhawk, Justin Seyfert, Reptil, Cammi from the Drax the Destroyer comics, and Hazmat... I'd mention Mettle, but he was the very first person to die). Some characters are just introduced in this series just to die; one character, Kid Briton, was introduced and had a whole issue devoted to him, only to be decapitated by one of his teammates in the very next issue.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, why wasn't the Sam Alexander Nova put in this series? If anyone deserves to die it's that little flying piece of crap.

I'm totally pulling the thought from the sky having no knowledge on it... so... it sounds like another way for Marvel to handle the "too many mutants" problem rather than writing a good story?
PostPosted: Wed Apr 10, 2013 10:03 am

It's not a mutant story, as most of its characters are super-powered by other means(the only mutant, technically, is X-23), but it seems to be going that way, as evidenced by Marvel NOW!'s lack of young heroes titles outside of Young Avengers and Avengers Arena. It pisses me off mostly because out of all the books Marvel's released in the last decade or so, among my top favorites are the ones based on teenage heroes(namely Runaways a.k.a. my favorite comic ever, Avengers Academy, and Secret Warriors), and seeing those characters killed off so senselessly for shock value(as opposed to, say, in Secret Warriors where their deaths are meaningful and aren't done simply for exploitation's sake) just pisses me right the hell off.

Come on, Marvel, is it just too much to ask for another volume of Runaways instead of just going nuts on your younger characters for no real reason?

Yeah, that was mostly what I meant. smile Oh no we have all these heroes... what are we going to do with them? I know, let's just rip off pop culture movies and slay them all.

Oh Marvel... so much promise, and yet you just can't get it together. If you're going to kill characters off, make it matter. Better yet, don't bring them back in a year with a lame resurrection.

Lindsays Trachea
Okay so so far I'm not hating Age of Ultron, but as a seasoned veteran of Brian Michael Bendis crossover events, allow me to make a few bold predictions about where the story will go:

1. Nothing will actually come of it, and everything will be completely back to normal in the most ridiculous way imaginable in like an in-story week after the event finished.
2. It's going to end on an extremely unsatisfying note.
3. A lot of useless cheap deaths that don't even matter in the long run.

Because it's Marvel, and more importantly, a Bendis comic.

EDIT: I feel like every event comic ever should take example from Annihilation. I consider that the benchmark for great event comics in the modern era.
Okay, just read Age of Ultron #4, and I just had to point this out.

I called it. I ******** called it. Not one, not two, but THREE meaningless cheap deaths.

She-Hulk, Taskmaster, and Luke Cage, in that order.

But even getting past that, it was an absolutely terrible issue in which a whole lot of absolutely nothing happened.

And yeah, LJ, pretty much the gist of it.
