Inechi Shironaegi Hp: 13/27 Cp: 31/33 MHp: 27/27 Behind the tape his lips smiled, a sense of pride brewing within him as he worked on the training. The path to greatness was paved with challenges, one always had to push themselves in order for growth to occur. Now here he was, repeating the training for a jutsu that he already knew but at a higher level. When he was done the boy would be able to perform even greater feats of escape. Of that he was certain. Once the first knot was dealt with he used the nawanuke no jutsu for a second time, to both keep a fresh image of what he was dealing with his head, and to add in giving himself some extra room to maneuver as worked the second knot. This one was up near his shoulders and to get at he had somewhat painfully bend his arms but he pushed through it, continuing to tug and push at the key spots until the knot loosened and then slipped apart. He continued to work with a smile behind the tape. At this rate he figured that he'd been done in a few minutes and could then enjoy his savory lunch. Inechi Shironaegi Hp: 13/27 Cp: 30/33 MHp: 27/27 As knot number two fell he felt a small sense of satisfaction. That meant he was already one fifth of the way there. As continued to untie the knots he also gained more room to maneuver his arms and this lead to more options when dealing with the other knots. Once more he used the nawanuke no jutsu, continuing to focus on his task, he used to the justu to scope out his next target in the series of ten knots. When he found his number three, Shiro got to work on it quite quickly as he attacked the knot's foundation. It was bit tricky to get at and he had to stretch his fingers a little bit sometimes in order to actually reach the parts that he needed but he was steadily making progress on it. With each passing he was growing closer and closer to gaining lunch. This prospect caused him excitement and fueled him to continue going at the knot with all of his being. Inechi Shironaegi Hp: 13/27 Cp: 29/33 MHp: 27/27 Knot number three soon met it's match and was toppled by Shiro's will to escape and eat a nice tasty lunch. With food as his motivator the boy was not going to be held back by a few knots. With his determination running strong the boy continued with his task. As hid did so all of the other students escaped his notice, how they were doing didn't even register on his radar at the moment. Right now he was in the zone, as they say. With his chakra reserves still high the boy continued to use the nawanuke no jutsu to boost his skills as an escape artist slightly. He quickly "sighted" in on his target. Knot number four was now chosen and it wouldn't be long before he took that one down as well. Using what little room he had, Shiro wriggled one of his arms side to side as forced the knot the move. The rope felt uncomfortable as it dragged across his skin, the friction causing a slight warming sensation. However that was nothing compared the leeches in the rice paddies back home. With that in mind he continued to work, and pulling, pushing, and tugging where he thought it was necessary until Knot number four was no more.

Inechi Shironaegi Hp: 13/27 Cp: 28/33 MHp: 27/27 With knot number four untied he was now two fifths of the way to eating lunch. With that in mind he pressed forward. During his last of the nawanuke no jutsu Shiro had spotted something interesting, right near where knot number four used to be was knot number five. With four now untied it was easily accessible and within reach of his nimble fingers. Shiro quickly took to unraveling it as he worked the ends where he figured he could undo the rope. It was bit tricky since didn't quite remember exactly what it looked like but he was certain that he could undo it without the nawanuke no jutsu. With his somewhat advanced experience, at least compared to the rest of the class, he managed to figure out knot number and undo it. The boy was no half way to his goal of delicious lunch. Eager to finish and eat, Shiro used the nawanuke no jutsu again as he looked for his sixth target. After using the ninjutsu he picked which knot he wanted to be number and six and set about the process of untying it. As he worked on the knot the shiro became aware that he didn't seem to be making a whole lot progress with it. In fact he almost felt like he was making it worse. He let go and let his hands fall back to a neutral position as he stopped to asses the situation. After adjusting himself and thinking up a new strategy to attack the sixth knot with he had come to a conclusion, which now strengthened by the nawanuke no jutsu, appeared to be a solid one. Now ready to try again, Shiro moved his hands into position and then took a deep breath before diving into the problem at hand. His fingers expertly executed the plan that he had come up with and shortly there after the sixth knot came undone. Thus only four knots remained. Now past the halfway point Shiro breathed a sigh of relief, or at least he tried to. The from his sigh ended up exiting through his nose. His stomach emitted a low growl as it complained about not being fed yet. The fight from earlier had left him pretty drained and he need food to recover. Amaya carefully watched as Akeru lost himself in thought. There was a small flushing of color on his cheeks that the small girl had seen before when she was very young; well, younger than she was now. It was when her brothers were born. Both her mother and her father had that same pink tint to their faces when they first got to hold the squirming little bundles. Curiosity obviously glinted behind the flat black of the girlโs eyes while she watched his developing. She carefully listened to his gentle words, trying to see if he would come to a decision on his own; which would have been her preferred ending. However, it seemed as if he was suddenly lost within the details of his own task. Amaya listened to him, but he never did come up with a clear answer; so the child knew it was up to her.
Pushing against the soft grass with the palms of her hands, Amaya lifted herself onto her feet; gently brushing off the grass and dirt that had clung to her pants. She raised her hands to the sky while standing on her toes in order to stretch out her back that had taken on a lot of pressure while she was resting in an odd position. Once she was happy with her loosened muscles, the small child turned to the man with a kind smile on her face and a glimmer in her eye. โAkeru-san,โ Amaya clasped her hands in front of her and gently bowed at the waist as she spoke. โI would be honored if you would help train me.โ As the girl rose back up to a standing posture, a small locket of her hair flipped in front of her eyes; which she gently tucked behind her ear as she waited almost anxiously for Akeruโs reply.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element. Cp: 1311/1320
"The Academy no longer requires target practice to graduate..."
He stood up with fluid grace, letting his nodachi rest leaning against the bench. From the pocket of his belt, he removed a small scroll, the spine of the binding was covered with calligraphy that was hard to read for the untrained eye because it was written in the traditional style, with ink of grinded stone. He unfolded the length of the scroll, before throwing it into the air. It was curious: the inside was completely blank, or so it appeared. He bit his right thumb as the first first length of the scroll fell, and quickly wrote something onto the white sheets, before his other hand caught the scroll and rolled it neatly up. He knelt and with that hand pressed the scroll to the ground.
A ring of black seals appeared around his hand that was holding the scroll. With a light poof in the manner similar to the Bunshin technique summoning clones, three kunai now rested in Akeru's open right palm, and six shrunken -- two each -- balanced deftly in the space between the fingers. He stood up, and slipped the Fuu summoning scroll back into his pocket.
He passed the items to her.
"But it is useful an art. We could give your Ko-sensei a surprise."
His golden-eyed gaze looked upon the dummies.
"Ranged techniques are quite favored by many shinobi, because of their combination possibilities. Among them, includes attaching a Jibaku Fudai to a kunai. Though still this manner..."
He was referring to aiming for the stationary dummies.
"...is rather barbaric a technique."
Eseinin favored senbon, but old habits died hard for him. He had yet to arrive to the level of learning how to effectively incapacitate with the senbon, the preference for shuriken so naturally ingrained since his pre-Genin days.
"Try throwing the kunai first."
He wonders, if from that alone she would understand why the kunai was not designed to be a thrown weapon?

7 + 0 + 5 = 12 Stomach Hit: 2 points
Without much warning, though she expected him to once he began talking about Academy requirements, the man stood while leaving his weapon propped up by the bench. Watching in awe, Amaya gazed upon the dancing scroll as it unraveled in the air above Akeru. The girlโs eyes followed his movements as best she could as he wrote on the scroll before rolling it back up. Amaya had always admired the artistic value of the shinobi because not only was it a matter of grace, beauty, and style, but all of it had practical application and it all served a purpose other than flair. Her eyes continued to follow as he pressed the seal to the ground, taking in the black seals as they appeared on his hand. Small clouds of white smoke exploded and in their place rested the tools necessary for her assignment. The child had never seen anyone use scrolls to carry weapons before, much less summon them from thin air. It was absolutely astounding what the shinobi of the past had managed to discover and develop in their days of pioneering the art.
Carefully, Amaya took the weapons from Akeruโs hand as he held them out before her. She was accustomed to handling weapons because she was in charge of stocking the shop and moving stores, so she wasnโt too concerned about cutting herself; her only concern was that she didnโt cut Akeruโs hand after he so kindly conjured up the tools she needed to continue training. The child listened carefully to the young man, taking in everything that he had to say and smiling with his analysis of the training being barbaric. She loved how he analyzed everything so concisely and how set his views were on the world. However, what made that impressive to her is that he had reasons for his views. He hadnโt used the old โbecause thatโs the way it isโ or โmy way is set and right because it is my wayโ that she had grown used to hearing from people above her in the social order; so almost everyone.
The girl pulled herself into her task as she received her first instruction. He wanted her to throw the kunai and that was the one she was most uncomfortable with. Amaya had never understood how people used kunai as a throwing weapon. After all, it had a handle so that it could be used in close range combat, but somehow people had gotten it to work. Well, if this was a universal skill for shinobi, then she had no choice but to at least try; plus, she wouldnโt want to go against the man who was so kindly taking time to teach her even though he didnโt have to.
Amaya moved so that she was in front of a training dummy; best to miss and have the kunai go into a designate area then attempt to throw it from the bench and have it land in an arbitrary area. The child placed the remaining weapons in the appropriate pouch so that they wouldnโt be in the way as she took sight on her target. She was slightly worried that she would make a fool of herself, but Akeru seemed to be understanding of the fact that she was new. Plus, he had once been an Academy student. It couldnโt have been so long ago that he already forgot. Amaya used the ring on the end of the handle to grip before she threw the kunai at the dummy. The girl couldnโt help but smile when it stuck in the dummyโs stomach. Sure, it didnโt bury itself in deep and it was a relatively non-fatal location, but it was a success none the less.
โAkeru-san,โ Amaya turned her head to look his way with that small smile of accomplishment. โThe kunai is odd to throw because of its handle and how much bigger the knife is in comparison; what is the proper way to hold it when you throw it?โ The girl was hoping for assistance since it was such a new and unnatural skill.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element. Cp: 1320/1320
"Very good." Came the quiet assessment.
He was not referring to the throw.
"That is because the kunai knife was not built for throwing. True daggers are shaped far more slimly in order to minimize air resistance."
In essence, with the kunai knife's shape, one had to possess a large amount of physical strength. That is something which is impossible without either learning the Goken or perhaps the Senju clan's prized Gouwan. This was also the reason why members of Konoha's Hyuuga clan did not like the kunai knife at all: they tolerated shuriken at best, but were most deft at the senbon.
"Because you have not learned the Goken yet, a throw is more effective if you grip closer to the base of the knife. Using centripetal force is another method..."
Akeru removed a kunai knife from his own holster, and slipping his index finger through the ring, twirled it once and allowed it to fly into the air. With nimble movement before it got too far, he barely touched its base to redirect the kunai with a curling cradle of the thumb and index fingers and added a forceful movement that sent the knife flying straight forward. It struck the dummy straight where the heart would be, and the model trembled a little from the force.

4 + 0 + 5 = 9 Just Hit: 1 point
While her hit had been no good, at least Amaya did well in her assessment of the kunai. She was now down to two kunai and that didnโt hurt her feels much at all. The girl had entered the Academy knowing that for ranged weapons she was probably going to be a senbon user. They were thin and built to fly through the air. Plus, they werenโt heavy so while their length may be cumbersome at her age, at least the weight wouldnโt pose much of an issue with her small build. The girl listened closely as Akeru went over the design of the kunai for her, which was the kind of teaching that she had been hoping for upon entering the Academy. While โhowโ was great, โwhyโ was irreplaceable and that is what separated people at the end of the day. Acting and understanding were two very distinct abilities.
The childโs eyes never wavered from her surrogate sensei as he began to explain to her how it would be best to throw a kunai. She had taken the wrong approach by gripping it towards the bottom, but that was also the great part about having someone there watching and analyzing. Amaya nodded tentatively as he explained, making sure she took in every word. However, the small girl couldnโt help but be quietly amazed by his strength and accuracy when he demonstrated how the kunai was supposed to be thrown. Not only that, but he also had the confidence in his abilities to do it with just a bit of flair. The only time Amayaโs eyes wandered from Akeru was to follow the knife as it whizzed through the air, digging itself deep into the dummy where the heart was supposed to be. She took in the effect as the dummy trembled with the strike, probably never having felt one of such force before. Or at least, that is what the girl liked to imagine.
Amaya nodded both understandingly and determinedly back at Akeru before she pulled out the next kunai. It took her a moment to find the right grip, but it was still awkward and uncomfortable. With a gentle breath, the child threw yet another knife, though this one had even less success than the last one. There wasnโt even the gentle โthunkโ of the knife hitting wood when her kunai stopped because it had just barely held onto the side of the dummy. As a matter of fact, the child wasnโt exactly sure how in the world it was managing to hang on. It didnโt take long for her question to be answered though as the kunai gently slipped from the wooden target and landed with an almost inaudible sound beside it. Great, she would manage to do worse rather than better. However, that was the learning curve, so Amaya turned back to her teacher to await his deliberation โ or whatever it was supposed to be referred to as.

No, right now was game time and he aimed to win; so that meant no distractions allowed. Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element. "It takes time to accustom to." Soothed Akeru, noting her disappointment all too easily. After all, it was not many years ago when he had been in the Academy and firsthand experienced disappointment. He knew what it was like to watch the shuriken miss the mark, to watch the kunai soar past the intended spot. Worse of all, was when it did not land at all. Saiya-nee had comforted him kindly, even though his childish mind had bemoaned at that time just how could he so terrifically fail at the sport his family was supposed to be best at. In the end, he practiced hard, and where he did not have a natural flair for kunai and shuriken, practice did pay off in the end. He expected this to be the same for when he finally master the senbon: time and effort, as well as much patience, would always be rewarded.
"Shall we try the shuriken?" He inquired of her. "Watch closely how the first flies. Amaya-chan, if you accustom to their flight pattern, it will be very simple."
Shuriken were both easier and harder to control. They were easier, because the flat, thin metal disks were actually made to fly through the air, but the pathing was more similar to a boomerang. More than anything, it was the shinobi growing accustomed to how the shuriken would fly in the air, to be able to predict just the angle and direction of the throw in order to strike a target. What he liked best, even though he would never be able to reproduce such a technique, was to watch members of his family intertwine wire with their shuriken, before setting the wires aflame. The tongues of fire will travel down the wires, before igniting the focused center with a terrific explosion.
It wasn't so much the flames, but rather the implications of strategy that made the technique beautiful. He had watched the Senju stipulate Fuu cornerstones with modified shuriken, the Nara extend the shadows for their techniques with ranged weapons. It truly was inspiring to imagine that at some point, everyone had started with small steps at an Academy, throwing weapons at seemingly unimpressive targets.
