The hunt was going well, Illo thought. He might even get out of there with no scratches at all! Though it seemed unlikely. The mystic threw more sweeping kicks at the beast's head, essentially mimicking its paws to fight fire with fire now that he'd gained the initiative.
The supposed damsel Koharu had said something to the beast who was proving the old adage true about beasts and corners. A final swipe caught the wrist of the monk and caused some blood to trickle down like Reganomics into the, if we must, mid-class soil of the foothill. His reflexes had saved him, though, and Illo was soon bounding back and levitating, ready.
"What's this now?" Koharu's somewhat muffled confession was stirring to say the least. After all, there was no beast as wily as deception; and now Illo was preparing his mind to do battle with this new opponent instead of his body. He hovered closer to the two, looking quite unamused.
"I'd say you friend was much more eager than he needed to be... Shame. Most do a little research before deciding whether or not to fight me." Sure he was proud, but wouldn't you be? The man had overloaded a nuclear reactor just by resonating with it! Of course, to appreciate that absurdity you'd also have to get past the fact the monk could resonate with inanimate objects in the first place.
"Adrian," he said calling out to his new confidant, "after these two explain themselves we're leaving. I've already warmed up, and you haven't gotten a chance to train at all... I feel bad for it." Illo was vaguely aware of another group of souls around, but due to certain barriers this would not be enough to alert him to the presence of Yosuzume.

She stood up seeming all the fine..and said very shakly,"Well first..You know my name so no need to explain that part..but I am a Familiar...well a deer one, and...well I am looking for a contracter. First these wounds werent made from my friend..i was indead training but then i fell down a cliff, my friend that lion the went away who is my friend tried to help me up and stuff, so he may have rub his darkness onto me, but then i saw you guys on the way top of the hill so i though i try to see if you two were maybe the right person for me. I very thankful for helping me, that shows that you both are very helpful people, but i am surprise that you did suspect me at first by doing such, if i was doing this plan or not. So that makes you a little unware of things, which is not always a good thing. And when I said i need to get to death city to look for someone... important i am trying to look for a contracter ofcourse since that is a familiar purpose in life afterall."
Powers:
Familiar Dance Contract [] By Performing a dance with he/or she can create a contract, making Koharu he/or she familiar. With this contract the Contracter Soul Wave Length also becomes Koharu Soul Wave Length so they can be match.
Weapon Out [] If her contracter is a Miester, and he/or she is sick,very injured, or K.O she can use her Contracter weapon and use them in battle for them.
Taking Damage [] If her contracter is injured or close to death, if she is near he/or she Koharu can take all of their damage from their body but it transfers to her body making her close to death or just injured.
Dance of The Forest [] Doing this Dance around her contracter or just by herself she can call upon nature to aid her, meaning animals, spirits of the forest, ever plants help her in anyway they can.
Dance of The Non Stop Shield [] By creating this dance, she needs to be on natural ground, not man made and by going around the contracter or dancing by herself she can created a shield of metal around her skin or the contracter protecting them from harm.[Only Last 7 Post, and Recharge is 3 posts]
Chains of Lights [] By using Natural sunlight she can create these chains and place them around the contracter[it doesn't show to them, and or weigh them down] and with these chains of lights if she is holding on one end of the the chain of light she can pull herself forward to wherever her contracter is at any time if she is away from them.
Dance of Clouds [] By dancing she can created a cloud to form, around her feat allowing her to flow up into the air, and allowing her to basically to float.
Healing Winds [] This aquires her to have Dance of Clouds active and while this she can heal any near animal/plant/spirit/herself or Her Contracter by a minimal, but with this and boosts it their stamina making them want to go more.[Last: 2 Posts/Recharge: 6]

Yosuzume listens in on Koharu's little exsplaination. It wasn't uncommon for a familiar to feel lost without a master. She almost felt bad for the little creature. With her soul protect still active she reforms her body slowly before coming into full view. Annoyed, Yatagaratsu follows in his human form;a young boy with a cloak made of feathers and a large three eyed crow on his shoulders. He kept his eyes on Illo just in case he tried to make a move toward Yosuzume.
Why not allow me to help you. I'm probably more skilled with familiars than these two.

Illo nodded as the familiar explained her situation. There was just something about it which seemed to pull at Illo's heartstrings, despite his knowledge of their tricky ways. However, the monk had no time for this. He still had to train, he and Adrian both, to face Han again.
When the other two came out of the tree Illo looked over with mild regard; as with the soul protect on he could only see a mild-looking soul in them. The male kept watch of Illo, and this made him a bit wary of them, but he had no reason to suspect them. Perhaps they were demons? Demons had a right to fear him. Yes, that reason worked for Illo, and he gave a small nod to them.
"... I think I see now," he said finally. "You wanted to test us? I'm sorry, but I cannot form a contract with you at this time. Adrian and I must continue training. You would be better off in the care of these two. They look well-off, and I'm sure they could support you," he said gesturing to the new arrivals.
"Now, if you'll excuse us... Adrian?" The monk turned to leave the group in peace with his new trainee. "Let us go to the top. You still need to warm up, after all." With the weapon's permission Illo would teleport them to the summit where they could train hard for the next little while until Adrian had had enough.

Yosuzume smirks as Illo practically opens the door for her. Not very smart on his part,and she was sure the familiar might take some offense at Illo trying to pawn her off to a stranger. Yatagaratsu's third eye glows for a moment as he studies Illo. He could see the faintest outline of Ren's influence. Still he wasn't sure if the monk was friend or foe,and was greatful he was leaving.
You can test me if you are so inclined. I am Yosuzume,and this is Yatagartsu one of my familiars. If you are a lost soul perhaps you'd like to meet our friend Shiroyasha. As a nine-tailed Kitsune she contracts many spirits,familiar's,and the like.

Adrian stood back as this all unravled. He watched as Illo was slightly wounded and listened to Koharu explain herself. Adrian was going to pipe up about how he thought that wasn't a very good test, sure they didn't suspect it was a trap but Illo was strong enough to take out anything they came across and Koharu seemed hurt, they had no reason to suspect her. He decided to keep his thoughts to himself and looked towards the newcomer and wondered if they would make a better companion. Adrian listened for a bit before nodding towards Illo. He looked at Koharu and gave her a quick wave before joining Illo in teleportation.
Before the mentioning of Shiroyasha, which may have intrigued the monk, Illo and Adrian vanished instantly to the summit of the mountain. It was of little concern if the strange familiar found this new friend to be a trickster; in fact it might have been poetic justice for wasting valuable time, not to mention trying the monk's ample patience with such a ruse. The thing of it was not so much that they hadn't the time, although that was the facile facade assumed by the monastic martial artist, but rather Illo hadn't the resources to invest in yet another's troubles.
Before they knew it the sky came down on them. Slammed through, it would seem as if the two had made holes in the atmosphere from which air could escape and never return, and the hypocrisy of the view from near the top of the world was burning in each breath. Illo turned to Adrian, watching him readjust to the climate, feeling his pain; and he wondered if he might have looked this way when he first began his training. A hand unfolded like spring's undead grass, then another, and more still until the monk was unfrozen, flowing, into a streaming of fresh and cold readiness.
"I don't make a habit of lying, Adrian; I intend to train until one of us is exhausted... Do you wish to continue?" Depending on his answer being yes, the monk would say, "Then come at me with all you have!" ... Or something to that effect.
Adrian was the one he'd found most potential in as a person. Truth be told he was about to leave that familiar behind in his blind ambition to become strong enough to beat Han regardless of traps. Speaking of which, the scene previous was a perfect example--or repeat--of the episode at the park. Han had taken Illo's power away from him by proving to the monk that that power hadn't the erasure within it to deal with the unavoidable loss of a friend. Similarly the fight at the foothill had tested the ability of the monk to fight through a situation instead of think it out; in the obvious sense the lesson was not to fight but to learn to think extemporaneously and conquer his foes with his mind guiding his fists; but conversely it spoke to a graduation of strength as it related to smarts, and how all that was needed to circumvent brain was a certain proportional level of brawn. That was the problem, though. Illo didn't know the ratio, and he didn't know for how much intelligence from Han to account for.
This got the monk thinking again: suppose the brothers were right when they said enlightenment's journey started at Shibusen, about the ridiculous lengths he had to go to to eliminate the forces at Lucrum, or about the incident at Netherworld's arena. It could be said that a man was a culmination, that is a high point, of his past triumphs. If this is so then Illo most definitely has the envy of the martial arts community, but it would not be wise to say he held the attention of wise men. Could he be blamed? Doubtful; as it was without condition or rest or regard for condition that Illo trained. This was all he knew, and so as any teacher inevitably passes down the experiences they have had in the form of "knowledge" for the pupil to decide upon and live in a slightly or radically different way, so too Illo was only able to train in this extreme way, unable to escape the other side of the shimmering veil called the North Sheer.

Adrian wobbled slightly at the sudden change in altitude. He shivered and rubbed his head but he felt stronger, he couldn't quite figure out why yet but he felt like he could do something more. Adrian looked towards Illo and nodded."Uhh, right, okay."He knew he wouldn't be able to defeat him fully and he knew Illo could fight without his sight so the flash would be a one time attack if anything. Adrian looked around, now fully understanding that they were at the top of the mountain. He looked up and noticed that the sun looked a lot closer than when they were at the base. Adrian looked at his hands, to him they looked like they were almost glowing.'There's no way I could beat him hand to hand right? If only I had something to help.'Adrian held out his hand which did start glowing brightly like he was about to release a flash of light like before. Instead, the glowing left his hand and seemed to float in front of his palm and started forming a shape. The light took the form of a small sword and Adrian grabbed it by the hilt. He looked at his other hand and wondered if he could make something out of that too. He decided to think of a shield as he extended his left hand in front of himself. The light took the shape of a circular shield that fit his arm snugly. Adrian sighed and faced Illo, gripping the sword tightly."Alright, I'm ready."He charged at Illo taking a swing with his sword. Adrian fully expected Illo to dodge so he threw his full weight which caused him to swing around in an attempt to slam his side with his shield.
All that headcanon and discernment would have done him a lot of good, but Adrian lacked the technique to implement such a tactic. Though as he stood there eyeing Illo (that's kinda fun to say lol) the monk could see he was the right kind of warrior, voting always to use his opponent's known deficiencies to take them out. It could be called smart, but another way to see it was Adrian was very cutthroat.
Then again, Illo could not be discounted for his tactics as far as actual battle went. His face was unblinking as Adrian approached. He read the slash and shuffled back to avoid it, tossing up some snow as he did. Then the shield bump came. Illo instinctively shuffled back toward Adrian with nimble feet and a stable core. His open palm met Adrian's shield with equal force, his feet having been spread to allow Illo's center of gravity to lower behind the strike. He'd effectively executed a stop-hit. The difficulty for Adrian now was in that Illo was too close; in his cage, if you will and so striking him with his weapons would be cumbersome. That, and he'd thrown a lot of weight into the attack. Once Illo'd cancelled it it would likely mess with his balance a little because the monk had not really let him finish the motion.
"Good... But you do not yet know what it is to strike." Cryptic, but Illo would hold Adrian there so that he could try again.

Adrian stumbled at the sudden stop in his momentum. He repositioned himself and nodded at Illo's words, Adrian wasn't a fighter in any sense of the word. Back home he would allow bullying to happen, he wouldn't lift a finger against others even if fighting back was the right thing to do. But the past few days changed him, demons and strange men coming into his life out of no where. I was all new to him and he knew he'd have to change himself to survive. Adrian remembered that Illo said he wanted Adrian to come at him with everything.'Alright, lets try something new then.'He jumped back and ran at Illo once again. Adrian swung again, purposefully missing, knowing it would be dodged anyway. He swung around again but stopped his shield early, aiming the center of the round shield towards Illo's face. Adrian gripped the shield strap tightly and focused the light he had gathered into it, releasing a stronger than usual flash. He would take what he hoped would be an opportunity by launching himself forward, aiming his shield towards Illo's stomach.
The attack was new to Illo. His vision was taken from him momentarily and the surprise made him slow to react to Adrian's next attack. The shield collided with the stomach of the monk and sent him sliding back in the snow a couple feet. Something was wrong though. He didn't look too hurt. With access to his Qi Gong Illo was able to strengthen his body in case a blow should be unavoidable. He did this out of instinct as soon as Adrian blinded him.
"Not bad. Now it's my turn!" Illo took his hind leg and threw it at Adrian's front shin, then stepping in wound his body into an overhead Crane strike. The Crane attack was meant to utilize the leverage Illo possessed and a long fulcrum to turn his short acceleration into a bludgeoning hammer. Adrian would do well to try to avoid it, but that might depend on how he fared against the first kick.

Adrian smiled at his success and was glad when Illo didn't seem hurt, he didn't want to hurt him, he wanted to improve himself. He watched as Illo came at him and looked towards the leg coming at him. Adrian lowered his arm and blocked the kick with the shield. He then saw his arms moving above his head. He knew he couldn't raise his shield in time but his other hand was just quick enough. Adrian raised his sword, the blade reaching just above the top of his head. He knew this would either make Illo stop and they'd both be fine or Illo wouldn't stop in time, Adrian would take the hit, and Illo would receive a cut. Adrian winced in preparation for the worst.
Illo was impressed with Adrian's speed in blocking his kick. Too bad he used the wrong limb to do it. Now he had him dead to rights. His Qi Gong training would allow him to smash through his sword without more than a red mark on his wrist, given that Adrian held it still for him. His arm kept coming and looked as if it wouldn't stop... Until the last instant.
"What's wrong?" He said with a smirk on his face. "You were prepared to strike, but not to be stricken? This is the only way to strike! You must commit fully, and only then can you find ways to avoid being hit yourself." His eyes narrowed as he pulled his hand back to his guard. It was as if the monk was looking through him. Illo began circling around Adrian slowly.
"When I attack, I do not defend, for there is no defense in attacking. When I defend, I am merely attacking the opponent's attack. You see? There is no defense, there is only strike. You must decide which side you will be on." As he finished he stepped forward and threw a quick jab at Adrian followed fluently by a fouette kick and, when that foot landed back on the ground, using its momentum to spring a back wheel kick to the opposite side the of the head the fouette had aimed for.

Adrian heard Illo's words and shook his head, trying to focus on what he needed to do to keep himself safe right now. He saw the jab coming and gave it an aggressive swing with his shield. Adrian used his momentum to throw himself out of the way of the oncoming kick. Adrian then saw the next kick coming at him and was worried he would be unable to block it successfully or dodge it in time. He brought up his shield to block and lifted his other arm to the back of the shield to add to his blocking strength. Suddenly his sword was absorbed by the shield making it vanish and making the shield grow in size. Arm straps formed around his other arm, locking it in place on the now larger shield.
Illo's foot, however, would not stop as his hand had before. It would collide with the enlarged shield with full force. That increased surface area could do more in the way of dispersion, but the fact was it would be heavier. Illo continued his assault by punishing the shield with side kicks.
"Do you see now?" said the monk while dolling out punishment. "Even the strongest shield will break eventually, but the fist is unbreakable at the point of impact!" One of the kicks would be a feint and Illo would use it instead to hook Adrian's hind leg. Once that was done Illo would use a palm on the shield to push Adrian.
