Miyuki had to squint a bit, she could see the clouds but had to look more carefully to see what kind of clouds they were.
"I think so yea... but I don't think that's a sandstorm."
It would also be moving a lot quicker if it was.

Daeron watched the cloud silently for a few moments. "In all my years, I've never seen a cloud down here," he murmured at length. "And you're right, it's not a sandstorm cloud."
"Rain," Iorlas nodded. "It rains off and on by the coast, but we're so far away from the coast here that it's highly improbable that the cloud will reach this far. It will probably die out before getting halfway here."
She smiled and touched Daeron lightly on the arm to get his attention back again. "Come. Forget about the cloud. It's one cloud, miles and miles away."
Daeron chuckled. "Yes, one distant cloud. Miyuki, keep Eevee close. The roads tend to be busier once morning is over."
He put one arm around Iorlas's waist and started off down the street towards the jewelry shop.

Miyuki nodded as she held the Eevee a bit tighter to her chest. She wondered if it could ride on her shoulder like Senka could but then decided not to. What if she got bumped and the Eevee fell? She couldn't fly like the way Senka could.
Taking once last glance at the storm cloud, Miyuki turned and followed her aunt and uncle to the jewelry shop.

As Daeron had predicted, the streets were a bit denser now, so it took them a bit longer to reach the jewelry shop than it might otherwise have taken. When they entered the shop, there were a few other customers in there as well. Iorlas let go of Daeron's arm immediately and made her way to look at some of the gold pieces.
Daeron smiled to himself and let her wander off. He didn't question her need to ogle shiny objects. It was just a part of her, and he accepted it like he accepted everything else about her.

Miyuki wandered the shop to see if there was anything new from the last time she looked. While she liked pretty things, she hadn't asked for anything for herself, not since that earring clasp from when she was a child (and even then she probably didn't remember it by now).
Like she did with Senka when she was little, she showed her Eevee the different pieces of jewelery.

A few of the customers in the shop gave Miyuki and her Eevee a curious glance, but since many of them had seen Miyuki before, or knew of their prince's odd family, no one stared too long or too openly.
"See anything you like?" Daeron asked Miyuki softly, though his eyes were on his wife.

"They're all very pretty, but nothing that really stands out," Miyuki replied.
If she were to be honest with herself, unlike her mother and grandmother there wasn't anything that she associated with herself. Both had a fondness for butterflies, though it had become more of her mother's thing than her grandmother's.

"Yeah, I'm not much for jewelry, either," Daeron admitted. "But Iorlas loves to look, and who am I to deny her that simple pleasure? Normally I'd chat with Aranhil, but it looks as though his father is manning the shop today."
He stretched a bit. He was getting a bit stiff. Perhaps when they returned to the castle, he would visit his uncle for a good spar.
"And we haven't seen your parents anywhere in the city," he remarked. "I wonder if they're back at the castle already."

"Or maybe they were hiding in the courtyard somewhere," Miyuki murmured, "or maybe they went to the top of the mountain...."
She didn't know why she suggested the last bit, but she had always wondered if they up-kept their own training just for the heck of it.

"They definitely weren't in the courtyard earlier when you found us," Daeron shook his head. "Up the mountain, maybe. I can see your father doing that. He always talks about visiting Uncle Eldrin and sparring with him."
It wouldn't surprise Daeron if Earendil went up the mountain first thing every morning, as he'd used to.
He grinned. "I should see if Earendil is up for a good spar sometime. I don't think I've ever sparred with him."
Of course, their level of experience was different - Daeron had far more blood on his hands than his younger brother did - so it would be an interesting match up.

Miyuki stared at her uncle and then nodded as if she understood, even though she didn't understand at all. Honestly, sparring she only did because if she didn't, she would never get better. It was not her idea of a good time.
"If you say so ada-tol...."

Daeron laughed. "I do. I don't expect you to understand, I know how much you dislike fighting."
He grinned at her. "Tell me. What do you like to do?"
He'd traveled with Miyuki, yes, but he had never really spent time with her when she had a choice of what she wanted to do. Shiro liked to work, Kaito liked to sleep, Andarien liked gears ... what did Miyuki like? He was surprised when he realized that he really didn't know.

Miyuki actually had to think about that, as she had no one clear preference for anything in particular. She was always trying different things, but nothing stood out to her. She just liked traveling and seeing what was there.
"I think... I just like trying different things, and seeing how things are different," she finally decided.
She didn't mean the last part in a bad way, after all she had no preference as she had lived all over the place. But for some reason it pleased her to note how people were different from place to place.

Daeron chuckled softly. "Then I suppose that coming back to the same places over and over isn't very interesting to you," he mused. "You must really be looking forward to traveling again, because I really can't see how you would do something like that here."
It was no wonder she didn't care that her family didn't stay for long periods of time in the same place, if she was always looking for different things.

"If only to have more things to compare with what I know," Miyuki replied, "But I like visiting old places. There are certain things that some places have I like better than others."
And even if it wasn't as interesting, they would be sorely missed.
