I was a bump in their, otherwise, perfectly smooth road of a life. The only reason they did not kill me or set me up for adoption is it would look bad. They also think my attraction to girls is an illness to be cured and have sent me to several straight camps. They just hate that I exist. Anyway, sorry to hear that about you.   Ushi just shook her head at what the two were talking about. "why did i get the easy life out of everyone in this school..." Ushi thought to herself as she sat there. Ushi pulled the ice pack away from her head and set it down next to her. "Lin if you want to go out there and help them, i have no problem with it, i'll stay in weapon forum so you don't have to worry about me..." Ushi suggested to Lin as she looked over at her. "unless you have a problem with this?..." Ushi asked Mortem. "I'm not one to really standby while others fight to protect others... if we can lend even the slightest bit of help then i'll do it.." The Demon Nurse Nurse Mortem slowly helped Ushi to her feet. "Normally I would insist you stay..." she sighed. "But these are desperate circumstances and you aren't in any mortal danger of your wounds reopening if you fight." She looked at Lin. "I see," she said sadly. "I'm glad you have Umi with you to help you out. I've found support through Charlotte and the DMA; they've been like a new home to me. I hope you find the DWMA the same way."

Lin nodded and help Ushi down as well. “I you’re sure you’re good to go Ushi, we’d better not waste any time. Just promise me, if you think you are in danger of being unable to fight, let me know immediately, and you know better than to try and fib your way out of it.” Lin took her hand. “Transform now so you don’t strain your injuries running, we need to act fast. Either Skysplitter or Ripper if you think you can handle that. I’m still not in the best shape, so I would prefer to stay at a distance.” She then turned to the nurse. "Thanks."

The Demon Nurse Nurse Mortem nodded. "Of course," she said with a smile, wishing them the best. Umi seemed so young, but she was clearly able to fight and survive quite a lot. She hoped they would be okay.

Ushi nodded. "fire brand would also be a good choice if long range is what you want, but lets go Ripper ..." Ushi said due to the fact that it has been a while since Lin last wanted her to use that forum. Ushi grabbed Lin's hand before her whole body turned green and changed into a two handed executioner Ax that was about the same size as Lin. "alright lets go..." Ushi said as her reflection appeared on the blade. "thanks for all your help Miss..." Ushi said. "but we're going to keep on our toes for her...." Lin hefted Ushi’s Ripper form and rested her on her shoulder. “Alright, let’s giv’em hell Ushi.” She ran through the door and out of the DWMA, headed for the City Center.

The Demon Nurse Nurse Mortem watched as the two left and then turned to Charlotte. "Headmistress....I'm worried about your baby and the stress this whole incident may be putting on it....if you would allow me to examine the baby?" she asked worriedly. She didn't want to upset Charlotte, but she was seriously concerned for the health of the baby; in her experience such incidents put resonance-sensitive children in extreme danger.

She sat down then wincing as she felt how tired her feet were. She looked up them "Um... out of curiosity.... am I supposed to be this big after only four months?" she asked before looking down "Because from what I have seen it seems like I am almost done." she said to her.

The Demon Nurse Nurse Mortem took her stethoscope and placed it against Charlotte's stomach, listening for the heartbeat. The stethoscope was also able to pick up the soul resonance of the baby. "No, you seem much further along than a normal human would be," she replied, listening in different spots. "Though this is to be expected; you are an incredibly powerful witch, combined with the fact that Divine himself is also incredibly powerful, your baby will develop it's resonance force faster. Most pregnancies develop normally, even amongst powerful beings. But once you cross a certain threshold you have to use the Accelerated Resonance Force Formula where you take the relative force of the two parents divided by..." she stopped and looked up. "Sorry, I'm rambling again." After a few moments she stood up and put her stethoscope away. "You should consider yourself lucky to be moving along so quickly," she said with a smile. "I suspect it also has to do with the way time moves in your personal dimension, though I've never been there so I couldn't say for sure." She paused, giving Charlotte a smile. "Your baby is in excellent physical health, but I've detected some abnormalities in its soul wavelengths. If I may, I would like to enter into your inner world and take a closer look at its soul," she said carefully. In reality the abnormalities had been much more than slight and Nurse Mortem was greatly worried, but she didn't want to upset Charlotte unless she knew what was wrong for sure.

The Demon Nurse Nurse Mortem nodded, placing her hand on Charlotte's stomach and resonating with her until she appeared in her soul room. She saw the baby in the center, laying in a cradle behind several barriers. When she saw it she knew for sure something was wrong and she was fairly certain what; all of the barriers were spider-webbed and cracked, chunks and holes were in them as if things had broken through or been thrown through. "Charlotte, when a woman is pregnant her body instinctively creates several resonance force barriers around the growing soul. Yours have been fractured and I need you to lower them for me," she said hurriedly, realizing there might not be a lot of time.

I will try." she said before closing her eyes and focusing on the barriers. They faded then inside the soul room. She winced then as the cramps she felt seemed to increase slightly.

Nurse Mortem
The Demon Nurse Nurse Mortem quickly ran to the cradle, seeing the baby Marai lying within, her soul pulsing out of control. "Oh dear," she said worriedly. The baby was about to be born, but there was a major problem. "The soul of the baby is seriously injured," Nurse Mortem told Charlotte. Marai's soul was filled with what looked like shards of glass. In them were reflections of different people. Some were Divine, some were Eric, some were Lin and some were Nariaki. "All the extreme emotions going off near you sent shards of resonance force into your baby like glass breaking. Normally they would just bounce off the shields but you're exhausted and the shields were punctured..." she knelt down next to the baby looking at the shards. "It's not their fault; it's not commonly known how sensitive a baby's soul is to the emotions around it and they couldn't control their bursts of resonance force....but this is bad..." She gently reached towards Marai and took one of the shards in her hand, a look of extreme concentration on her face. "The baby's about to be born, but I need you to hold off the birth for a bit Charlotte. The baby is so fragile...this is going to be like performing open-heart surgery. If she's born like this....there could be serious consequences." With achingly slow care, Nurse Mortem pinched one of the shards and slowly pulled it out of Marai's soul. The baby cried out in pain, sending a wave of resonance force through Charlotte's soul room. Nurse Mortem winced and put the shard aside. "I know sweetie, I know. Please be strong...I need to do this." She quickly used her resonance force to create a temporary seal on the wound the shard had left which would fade as the soul healed itself. She slowly grabbed another piece and began to pull it out, sweat beading down her forehead and face as she worked with steady hands.

She closed her eyes and endured it silently despite feeling pain both physically as well as from the wave of resonance the child released.
