“Oh, I must smell awful!” Sasha whined, dislodging herself from the conversation to sniff her sleeve. The girl frowned. She’d grown so used to the smell that now that she wasn’t surrounded by stench of sulfur, she could easily pick out just how much she stunk. “Comment attractif.” She mumbled before looking back up at the nurse, who was giving her an unenthused stare. “Um. Z’hose non-volcanic rocks sure smell. Eh-heh?”
“Right.” The nurse said, scribbling down more notes. “Now about Milo’s…interesting condition. That is certainly something we need to be aware of. Tell me what you know.”
“To be honest wi’s you, we aren’t exactly sure what it iz.” Sasha said, holding up the feather again. “He told us he was resurrected by Moltres and since z’hen he has all z’hese strange powers. He smokes a lot. Not z’he regular way, but his body actually smokes like a campfire. And he can breathe fire. What else?” the pink-haired girl asked somewhat rhetorically, turning to Kasiya nonetheless. “I s’hink his blood is really hot or somes’hing. Just be careful wi’s him.” Sasha added. “He’s been s’hrough a lot, and he can sometimes freak out. He doesn’t like hospitals.” With that, the nurse finished her notes and showed them to the waiting room. Sasha sat down next to her friend, the plastic screeching in protest as it formed around her. “You’re right.” She said in reply. “I just want to forget about it.” Sasha let out a heavy sigh as she recalled the day’s events. The violence, the screaming, the explosions, all of it was so recent, but felt like a distant memory now. “I had no idea it was going to be so…scary. Do you people do z’his sort of s’hing all the time? You all seemed to know what you were doing.”
------
It only took one knock for the door of the Kyoka household to fly open, revealing Mike’s mom, Karen. From the instantaneous response, it was almost as if she was waiting at the door all morning. While not as tall as the long-legged Gym Leader, Mrs. Kyoka stood with a presence that was almost giant as she stared at the children through her thick lensed-glasses in silence. With her free hand, she tucked her cell phone into her pocket before bidding the children welcome. “Flannery. Keegan. It’s so nice to see the two of you.” She said in a frighteningly friendly tone, opening the door the rest of the way and ushering them inside. As they came in, she made her way to the kitchen and came out moments later with two glasses of water. “You look like you have been rough-housing. I thought those days were behind you, Keegan.” She smiled at Flannery. “And you, little lady. You try to break it up again?” Karen sighed. “You crazy kids.” Karen mimicked a drinking motion, not letting them respond. “Drink up. Drink up. After all, playing around in the volcano is very dehydrating. I sure hope my son is keeping hydrated, wherever he is.” She looked down at the kids, who both scared a collective look of fear and bewilderment and smiled proudly. “Oh come now, you didn’t think I’d know?” Karen stifled a small laugh, producing a small remote. “I have eyes everywhere, dearies. You should know my work better than anyone.” Mrs. Kyoka had taken it upon herself years ago to ‘upgrade’ the town’s security, not just that of the Gym and the breeding center. This included hidden cameras at key points so that she could note suspicious activity and keep everyone safe. Over time, she had secretly become a one-woman neighborhood watch. “And this morning,” she continued. “I saw my son and your little group of friends, some of which I didn’t recognize, meeting up and heading towards Mt. Chimney. And no one could miss this.” She walked over to the window and opened the blinds, revealing the aforementioned mountain and the damage, which was disturbingly obvious to anyone who lived there and saw it every day. Karen Kyoka took in a deep breath and about faced, not wearing her usual smile, or sporting her eccentric yet strange mannerisms that the children before her had come to know over the years. The woman that towered over them was someone new entirely. Her gaze pierced their very souls as she softly demanded information . “What did you all do, and where is my baby? You are all in very big trouble.”

Jake continued to study the Magnemite from a relatively close distance, now having withdrawn his PokeDex to see if it had any useful information to offer. It did not. Grumbling in annoyance, the blonde put the device away and crept closer to the Electric/Steel-type, though it wasn't like Magnemite didn't already know the human was there. It continued to probe at the flower before moving on to a puffy yellow dandelion, and after nosing around it, proceeded to send another jolt of electricity through it. Jake raised an eyebrow, perhaps a little disappointed that this Pokemon was more interested in the flowers than him. "Fine, I'll make you notice me," the boy grumbled, rearing back and throwing the Pokeball at the Magnet Pokemon with all his might. Being more clever than it let on, Magnemite's single eye swiveled around and it droned quietly as it simply hovered back, and Jake watched with annoyance as the red and white sphere disappeared into a tall patch of wildflowers.
Now practically grinding his teeth in anger, Jake then took up a non-empty Pokeball and threw it, and in a flash of white light, Bibarel was standing tall before the Magnet. Right away the Beaver Pokemon sensed something was amiss, eyes going wide with confirmation of that feeling as she watched her intended opponent send a bolt of lightning at a Starly that just so happened to be unfortunate enough to pass by overhead at the moment. She spun around, glaring at her idiot of a trainer as she had no desire to get zapped like that, and she pointed to the poor Starly as it had spiraled down to the ground and landed in a bed of buttercups, still smoking and twitching.
"Relax, Bibarel, you're not a bird, you'll be just fine," he told her, dismissing her worry with a wave of his hand. The incredulous look on Bibarel's face was quite memorable, and she looked back at the Magnemite, perhaps showing the first signs of fear in the entire time Jake had known her. "Let's get its attention, Water Gun," the ignorant young man said.
Let's not, and say we did, Bibarel thought, and though it was against her better judgement, she did just that, cheeks billowing out temporarily as she prepared and loosed a powerful jet of water at the quirky little Magnemite.
=-=-=-=-= In truth, it may have looked as though Biker Barbie was completely ignoring contestant Dante, but in truth she was actually sizing him up pretty good. This unknown boy had come out of, well, nowhere, and he was actually pretty good for someone who seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. But maybe that was part of it, maybe he really did know what he was doing, but he was pretending he didn't so that he could win the favor of the audience with his ignorance or something like that! Oh well, it didn't matter. He was good whether he knew it or not, and that meant this final round would be a good one.
Barbie took in the newly-transformed arena, clapping excitedly when she saw the beams spread out all over the place. She didn't know how the large and bulky Dusclops would fare here, but her Tangrowth was king of swing in the jungle! After throwing out the vine Pokemon's ball, the green creature appeared in a swirl of rainbow coloured flower petals and sparkles, and it did a little dance before waving to the crowd. Barbie waved as well before giving her Tangrowth the command to use Growth once the match was officially started. Perhaps it was a trick of the light, but mass of greenery that was the Vine Pokemon seemed to grow even larger than before.
((Sorry, Melph! I totally didn't realize that last post of yours was my cue.))

It was safe to say that Jasper was more than a little impressed by the transformation in Paras' attitude in only half an hour, as before that, he knew the timid little Mushroom would have fled as fast as his little legs could carry him. But, now that he knew of the usefulness of his powder and spore attacks, he'd gained quite a bit of confidence. It was apparent, however, that Koffing was at Paras' mercy, for as the mushroom ventured closer, claw raised and ready to strike, the poor poison type whimpered and shut her eyes. "Paras, that's enough," Jasper said, having never thought he'd have to tell that particular Pokemon to stand down, but he felt a strange surge of pride for the bug and grass type welling up in his chest. Perhaps he was more capable of being a trainer than he'd given himself credit for.
The battle between Totodile and Sandshrew, on the other hand, wasn't going so well as though the gator had a type advantage over the mouse, it was painfully obvious that Sandshrew had more battling practice and it was this experience that was giving the ground type the edge. Totodile hadn't yet recovered from being sucker-punched in the stomach and wildly flailing her arms in a desperate attempt to scratch her attacker was hardly a good strategy, and it was hard to miss the smirk on Joe's face as he called for another Rock Smash. Sandshrew darted forward, easily as confident as his trainer and the glowing fist made contact with the side of Totodile's head, sending her crashing to the ground in a dazed heap of red, blue, and teeth. "Heh, this all you got, kid?" Joe sneered. "How about you just give us that Ditto of yours - no, make that all yer Pokemon - and in exchange, you won't get hurt?"
Jasper grit his teeth, unable to look away from Totodile. Being in this kind of a situation was definitely new to him, even though he'd been indiscriminately shoplifting and stealing from people for years, but one thing he'd never considered was robbing people of their Pokemon. There wasn't any real reason for this unspoken rule of his, because as long as he had Ditto, he hadn't needed other Pokemon. As he looked over at Totodile, his eyes narrowed. He was making a new start, and he wasn't about to let these two chumps get the best of him. "Come on, Totodile, get up," he said, looking to Paras, as that Koffing was going nowhere. "Help her, Paras! Stun Spore on that Sandshrew!" Again, Paras showed some amazing gusto as he scuttled forward, mushrooms already shaking. We might just get out of this yet, Jasper thought as Totodile got to her feet, seemingly shaking with Rage. * * * * * * * * * * Hayley glanced over at Gigas as Kressen explained how they'd initially upset the swarm, nodding. There had probably been a bunch of Weedle hiding in that stump, so naturally the grown-up Beedrill went into hyper-overdrive mode. "We might have dodged a bullet there," Hayley said knowingly. "Beedrill may be protective of their young Weedle, but if you cross into their nesting grounds while the Kakuna are waiting to evolve, well, you get the point." She giggled again, prompting another eye-roll from Cynder who once again pushed the determined Rattata away from him, but his trainer wasn't wrong. One time they had accidentally stepped into Beedrill territory, and Hayley had spotted a bunch of Kakuna tethered to the tree-limbs, patiently awaiting their evolution. Since Kakuna were far more defenseless than their pre-evolved Weedle forms, the Beedrill had the tendency to get extra-cranky if you went near them.
Hayley felt a shiver travel through her spine as she too remembered that close call, and though she'd had a few run-ins with Beedrill over the course of her brief career as a Pokemon Watcher, it hadn't deterred her in the slightest from venturing back into that forest, head and pride held high. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the Machamp heading toward them, all arms holding trays of delicious-smelling food and Hayley made a mental note to change the subject once they were settled in with their food. "Ooh, it looks so good," she sighed, resisting the urge to take out her sketchbook and draw the food, but only because she was more hungry than artistic at the moment. She made sure all three of her Pokemon had received the right bowls before she had a sip of her milkshake, giving a dreamy sigh as the sweet and tartness of strawberries flooded her taste buds.
She had another, longer sip and glanced around at her two mealtime companions, hoping to draw the subject away from angry Beedrill and their equally-angry stingers. "So what kinds of plans do you guys have?" she asked eagerly. "Going after gym badges? Contests? Just wandering around and getting tougher? All of the above? None of the above?"

The nightshade did its job and appeared to cause the Magnaton some real discomfort, making Ariados hold herself up in triumph. Crenu was sure the command for Thunder was coming and had half a mind to tell Ariados to focus, but decided to let her have her moment as he needed to think of any chance of survival. However what came next was a real surprise, it made the blond tense up for a moment in disbelief. "Ariados up into the web now, make some distance!" He called out immediately and the spider was snapped from her pose. It was a good thing she'd taken the time to slow the magnet down considerably or else she wouldn't have had the time to leap like an acrobat up into her nest hooking her legs into the silk but it didn't matter. The moment she moved Magneton moved with her and when she landed it fired off its electrical current, there was no way to dodge this one. But then Crenu was well aware of this of course. "Hidden Power quickly!" The blond trainer called out, teeth clenched and fists curled up into a ball starting to show some apprehension. Ariados didn't think twice and started to glow as a cluster of electrified orbs launched from her body and collided with the wave of electricity mere inches from her. The electrical energies reacted with each other and sparked loudly before exploding in an electrical surge that knocked Ariados from her web, a slight current sparking over her before dissipating, and she slowly stood up. The long leg pokemon shook her head and body wondering if the light ringing in her 'ears' would stop, but but it seemed she'd managed to rout the attack successfully. Meanwhile Crenu's jaws remained clenched tightly, he wasn't used to being the victim of mind games and being caught by surprise. His rapid thought processes were still in tact despite his current mental state, he was thankful for that at least as it had saved Ariados from paralysis for now but that was far closer than he was comfortable with. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down, regaining his calm disposition though his gaze was much sharper. Using a Thunderwave after lock-on was so incredibly unlikely, the lack of logic in that maneuver was simply out of his comprehension. "You're a dangerous man Surge. This is going to be more fun than I thought."

"Yeah, I think I'm going to have a phobia of Beedrills from now on! I'm definitely gonna pay more attention to Gigas's tail as well." Gigas pouted once again, but his attention was drawn away from his trainer when Gou came out of the kitchen with their food.
The little fire type nearly danced for joy at the sight of the food. He was starving and wasted no time in digging in once the bowl was set down in front of him. His cheek bulged as he stuffed his face with the delicious food.
"Slow down buddy or you'll choke." Kressen took a bite out of his burger as he listened to Hayley's question. He chewed slowly savoring the burger and thinking on what he wanted to do. "Well, I know I want to get stronger and travel around for awhile. I'm going to take the league challenge, but after that I don't know."
He liked the idea of traveling around the world with his pokemon a lot, and had only one future career in mind. "I've thought about becoming a cop and travel around thwarting people like Team Rocket. Of course I'll have to get stronger first."
He gently nudged Alex, interested in what she wanted to do with her life. "What aout you Alex, you aiming to become a Pokemon Master?"

Kasiya had glanced over at Sasha as she realized how bad they both smelled from their adventure, and the girl tentatively raised her own arm to give it a quick sniff. The sulfuric scent immediately made her nose tingle and eyes water and she coughed a little, forcing a laugh along with her pink-haired friend. At this point, she was pretty sure the nurse didn't believe much that came from their mouths, but rather than confront the two girls she simply made more notes. Kasiya found herself visibly flinching when the nurse called Mike "Milo" and she suddenly wondered why she couldn't have thought of a better fake name.
Sasha covered all the important parts of Mike's condition, however, and Kasiya nodded along, unable to think of anything important to add. "Yeah, please take care of him," she said, looking up at the dark-skinned nurse, bright blue eyes wide. "He's been through a lot." Once the nurse had gone, Kasiya leaned forward a bit, examining her hands a bit better now that they were under good light. The burns she'd given herself on that hot, hot door weren't too bad, as there wasn't even any blistering at this point, and with a sad sigh, she realized she'd gotten off easy in comparison to some of the others. She glanced over at Sasha, forcing another smile, and she sighed. There was no way she'd ever be able to forget this, as images of their adventure flashed through her mind, bright and vibrant and scary and real, every time she closed her eyes. "We've never done anything of that level before," she replied, shaking her head. "I mean, we have gone after Team Rocket a few times. But never anything like... this." She gestured with her arms to indicate a large area, hoping Sasha would understand what she was trying to convey, and she slumped back in the chair, her head starting to throb. She felt grimy and gross and exhausted, but she wouldn't sleep or shower or do anything until she was sure Mike was going to be okay.
=-=-=-=-= Flannery had time to shoot one last glare in Keegan's direction and shrug his hand from her shoulder before the door before them was practically ripped from its hinges, revealing a rather alert-looking Karen Kyoka. Now that they were practically grown, both Flannery and Keegan stood a bit taller than Karen did, but for some reason, that didn't seem to mean a thing. The stare she gave them felt sharp and piercing, like they were small children once again, being scolded for smashing a window with a wayward baseball. It didn't help that her eyes wider than they should be thanks to the thick lenses of her glasses. When she spoke, Flannery startled noticeably, now doing everything in her power not to hide behind Keegan as they were welcomed inside. Well, welcomed being the operative word, a bit of panic flaring up inside her chest as the woman ushered them inside before disappearing into the kitchen. She exchanged a quick glance with Keegan that read "we're so freaking dead" as Karen came back a few moments later with something that Flannery hadn't even realized she'd been craving - precious water. She gratefully accepted the glass with a quite thank you and had a sip, letting the cool liquid sooth her slightly cracked lips and dry tongue.
As she drank more, it felt as though the water wasn't even getting all the way down her throat before being absorbed by her body, and she finished her glass of water in only a few seconds, though it took a lot of willpower not to choke herself on the last mouthful as Karen mentioned the volcano. Again the two redheads exchanged looks, and Flannery gulped. It was cooler inside the Kyoka house and the dramatic shift in temperature had made her start to shiver - perhaps Karen had cranked up the AC on purpose. Flannery sighed, thinking back to a fairly recent time when she'd spotted Mrs. Kyoka perched atop a ladder, making "adjustments" to one of the street lights (or so she had said upon confrontation) and only now did Flannery realize the full extent of the "adjustments." They were quite foolish to have overlooked Karen's resourcefulness.
Flannery opened her mouth to say something, but Karen had turned her back on them, looking out the window and making sure both kids had clear views of Mt Chimney and its new sunroof. "W-we," she started, but by that time Karen had turned around, no longer looking like the kind and eccentric woman they'd grown up knowing, and Flannery couldn't help but cower, and now she really did hide behind Keegan, going so far as to give him a little shove forward. "G-go on, Keegan, you tell her," she said, her voice shaking almost as badly as she was.
=-=-=-=-= It was actually quite comical to see the water shoot through the air and then spray everywhere as it splashed against the side of the Magnemite's head. At first the magnet didn't seem to know what was going on, but then it slowly turned, its lone eye fixated on Bibarel. Bibarel already knew that this was going to end badly for her, and she only hoped it would be over quick as she glanced at the still-twitching Starly on the ground some ten yards away. Magnemite drifted forward, apparently more curious than angered and it floated in a slow circle around Bibarel, studying her quite closely. The magnets at either end of its body gave off a few warning sparks and the Beaver Pokemon startled, jumping back in fear.
This was new to Jake. Bibarel wasn't afraid of anything, as far as he knew, but she was cowering with signs of fear and suddenly Jake had a bad feeling, like he'd made a mistake. "Uh, it's okay, Bibarel," he said, scratching his head. He had the strange feeling that if Jade were here, she'd know exactly what he was doing wrong and chew him out for it. "Try out your Quick Attack?" The Water/Normal-type gave an exasperated sigh, but at this point, she really had no choice. She grit her teeth and charged toward the Magnemite, managing to surprise it and slam it quite solidly with all her body weight. It didn't do too much damage but this too got its attention. The top screw on its head began to rotate and it unleashed a sudden burst of sound waves that slammed hard into Bibarel's chest, sending her skidding back a bit. Having just checked this Pokemon in the PokeDex, he knew it was Sonic Boom and it did set damage, but regardless it had taken a chunk out of Bibarel.
=-=-=-=-= There was nothing Surge could do to stop himself from laughing out loud when he saw the panic on Crenu's face, probably predicting a Thunder from the tri-magnet. He raised an eyebrow, quite impressed when he saw the orbs of electricity spark to life and manage to block out the Thunder Wave, even if it was just barely. It wasn't every day you saw a Pokemon with Hidden Power, and it wasn't every day you saw one that could be used like that. Of course, it's also possible he was only biased because it was Hidden Power Electric. Regardless, he liked this Crenu kid. He had spark, he had confidence, and he was smart, too. It wasn't often he saw challengers like that.
He simply chuckled at Crenu's comment, and looked over at his Magneton. It seemed quite healthy so he figured they should make their next move. "Let's try something a little different! Magnet Bomb!" the gym leader shouted. Still droning quietly to itself, Magneton began to spin, the magnets on its body all starting to glow. A barrage of small, horseshoe-shaped magnets were then launched, all homing in on Ariados. Surge grinned again, as he liked having so many sure-fire ways to hit an otherwise evasive Pokemon.

Riza was well aware of the fact that her words had hurt the blonde girl's feelings, and for a moment she was sure Kasiya would turn around and hit her for it, as it was deserved. She'd unknowingly tensed up at the thought of being punched or kicked, but she relaxed when she saw the fierce glare Kasiya was shooting up at her. Though she'd wanted all along to provoke a battle with her, she hadn't wanted it to be like that, and she made a silent, mental note to herself to apologize after the battle, win, lose or whatever but for now, she wasn't going to give up her strong front. She too stepped back eying the poke ball in Kasiya's hand and she caught sight of the red haired girl giving them ample room to battle with. Admittedly she'd almost forgotten she was there, but she felt no need to apologize for making her feel uncomfortable. The girl didn't have to stick around when she didn't know anybody, after all.
When Riza saw Kasiya's first Pokemon appear, she had to do a double take. It was a Charmeleon, and it looked energetic and eager, and she shook her head. No, it couldn't be, could it? Riza had been present when Kasiya's Charmander had hatched from its egg in a burst of light and heat (and she still remembered well just how quickly Akima had run away from it), but this couldn't be the same Pokemon, could it? It had to be as she couldn't see any logical reason as to why someone would raise two. There wasn't any sense in fuming over the Charmeleon now, as she looked over at Eris she realized that most starter pokemon didn't take too long to evolve to their second stages. After all, it had felt like she'd only just gotten a cute and cuddly little Cyndaquil before it up and evolved into a hot-headed Quilava.
"So your little Charmander has already evolved," she said, deciding to just go with it. For a moment she was tempted to send out Diemia and let the water-type have some fun with the lizard, but Eris was already moving toward the Charmeleon, and Riza gave her the nod. A battle between two second stage fire-type starters would prove to be fun. "Eris, let's get things started," she said, deciding to take the first move. "Tackle attack!" Okay, so maybe she could have started off with something else, but the image of a tiny, baby Charmander taking its first few steps after hatching hadn't quite faded from her mind yet. Eris, on the other hand, was happy to be given a battle order and charged forward, for the time being the flames on her head and tail remaining extinguished. A growl escaped the Quilava as she darted toward the Charmeleon, lowering her shoulder in an attempt to bowl her opponent over.

Upon entering the girls' bathroom, the first thing Amy thought to do was check and make sure that she was alone--which, thankfully, she was. After peeking under the final stall, she slipped in and locked it, hands bracing on the wall on either side of her, suffering an abrupt bout of dizziness. She didn't know what to make of any of it: her father being alive, her father being a threat, Eliza's disappearance, the suggestion to leave... It was all too much to process at once.
She didn't intend to go back on her word, not at all, but now she knew that she would have to be careful in her journeys. Especially because she didn't want to drag Karrigan into this and get her hurt. But what could she do? She had set out primarily to find her father and find out what happened, but the answers weren't what she expected. And, despite her boasts to the detective, she was almost certain that she wasn't strong enough to handle herself yet. The brunette slowly sat down, forcing herself to take a few deep breaths, but she paused when she felt one of her Pokeballs jostling on her belt. A second later and the stall seemed overcrowded, and smelling of spices. Flora stared up at her trainer with concern, gently nudging her knee and letting out a soft, curious cry.
"Oh, Flora," Amy sighed, smiling a little at the Bayleef. "We might be a little in over our heads here." It was strange, seeing the much larger Grass-type when she still saw her as the little Chikorita that she had been only the other day. She rested a hand on the Bayleef's head for a moment, closing her eyes. There was something about Flora's presence that was reassuring; the Grass-type had never given up on her, despite all of her shortcomings in battle. Both Flora and Lee still had faith in her during their battle in Celadon, and she also had Marshall and her new Meowth, too. Amy thought of her father again, about how afraid she had been in that shop, and resolved that she would never feel like that again. She wasn't interested in being helpless all of the time, and she had no reason to be. Her Pokemon were always getting stronger, and she was, too. "Flora," the bespectacled girl said, opening her eyes. "Let's go win a badge." The Grass-type cheered in response and Amy stood, recalling her before checking herself in the mirror. Aside from a different look in her eyes, she looked pretty much the same, if only a little paler. Balling her hands up into fists, she left the Pokecenter without a word, already recalling the way back to the Vermilion Gym.
The walk back seemed quicker than the one to the red-roofed building; perhaps she had been walking at a quicker pace, and because of that, there was some color in her cheeks by the time she saw Karrigan and Riza and the blonde trainer. Riza seemed to be battling with the blonde, and from the look of it, it was not a friendly battle. She found her way beside Karrigan and smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry about that," she said softly, watching the two Fire-types duke it out with interest. "I didn't mean to make you wait. What'd I miss?"
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"Solaris, you've got to be kidding me," Jade grumbled as she moved one more branch aside, eyes narrowing as she looked around the clearing for any signs of her Fire-type. It felt like she had been in this forest forever, but it had only been a few minutes. The sound of the factory had faded in the distance, and now the only thing she could follow was the occasional growl and the snap of twigs on the ground. But even now, the raven-haired girl was unsure of which direction to go in.
"Solaris!" she yelled again, as loud as she dared, and received a small cry in response. She charged after the noise, heart racing. It sounded like the Vulpix was in a losing battle. A beat later and there was another cry, definitely from a different Pokemon. Jade burst through a cluster of bushes and found herself in another clearing, where she discovered Solaris and another, cat-like Pokemon. But they both seemed to shrink away from the more leonine Pokemon, circling the two as its tail swished back and forth. When the trainer noisily interrupted them, all three Pokemon glanced her way, and Solaris immediately began to dart over to her. But the largest Pokemon glowed a bright yellow and seemed to crackle before knocking himself into the Fire-type, eliciting another sharp cry of pain.
The smaller, cat-like Pokemon charged at the main offender, letting out a furious-sounding growl as it did. Jade retrieved her Pokedex and discovered that this smaller Pokemon was a Shinx, while the largest was its evolved form, a Luxio. Solaris was already getting up, but then both the Shinx and the Luxio glared at her. It seemed like it was a threeway battle. Both Electric-types turned toward the little fox and began to charge, Luxio already glowing with the promise of another Spark attack. "Don't let them hit you, use Quick Attack!" Jade ordered, already annoyed with the fact that they weren't playing fair. But Aquarius would be at a disadvantage against Electric-types, and she wasn't going to let her only other Pokemon faint. The Fox Pokemon disappeared in a streak of red, circling around the Electric-types. But before they had both skidded to a stop, the Shinx turned on its larger opponent, throwing its full body weight against the Luxio in a Tackle. Well, that one's definitely not afraid, Jade thought, watching her Vulpix loop back around for a sneak attack. But the Shinx seemed more interested in the Luxio for the moment, growling again and attacking over and over. He certainly seems... aggressive.

Keegan had started to wonder if it was not too late to run, but this wasn't going to be the case as only a split second after Flannery's knock did the door literally slam open, and the two redheads found themselves beneath the silent, cold stare of Mike's mother, her magnified eyes scrutinizing every detail on both his and Flannery's faces. "H-howdy, Mrs Kyoka," Keegan managed to choke out before practically being shoved inside, and maybe it was just his mind playing tricks on him but he could swear that she'd locked the door behind them with some sort of super-modified-fancy-mega-lock. Mike's mom left them alone for a moment, and Keegan looked to Flannery for some sort of strength but it was painfully obvious that the gym leader was as terrified as he was. "She's gonna kill us," he muttered, feeling somewhat like a caged Pokemon as the bespectacled woman came back into the room, carrying two glasses.
Keegan muttered his thanks and stared at the glass he now held, idly wondering if Mrs Kyoka had put something in it, like truth serum or poison or even some sort of laxative just to test it out on them (wouldn't be the first time), but he realized quickly that if she wanted to kill or torture them, she'd probably have invented something more fitting for the occasion and had it waiting for them in her workshop. Keegan carefully sipped his water, trying not to slink away under the gaze of the woman he'd known since he was a stupid kid, trying his best not to flinch as she mentioned their little trip to the volcano. He shrugged, and downed the rest of his water in a large gulp, wiping his face with his sleeve and setting the glass down on a nearby shelf, also chancing a look out the window which showed Mt Chimney, complete with the whole Mike's Pokemon had blasted in the roof. "Well, Mt Chimney is so lovely at this time of year," he answered, unable to keep the hint of sarcasm from his voice. Oh sure, his life could be hanging in the balance here at the whim of the eccentric inventor woman, but he couldn't seem to shut off the part of his brain that didn't know when to shut up. "That, however," he said, raising a hand and pointing at the gaping hole in the side of Mt Chimney, "is your son's handiwork. I guess he thought some renovations were in order."
The momentary silence that followed was deafening, and when Mrs Kyoka turned around again, instinctively Keegan began to look around for an escape route. He'd never seen anyone with an expression quite like that one, capable of melting the Teflon right off one of those fancy pots his mother liked to cook with. Unfortunately, even his own mother couldn't save them right now, as Mike's mother's words cut through the air, making them both flinch, and Keegan cried out as suddenly Flannery not only ducked behind him, but shoved him forward, as well, urging him in a shaky voice to be the one to give the explanation. Wishing desperately for a smoke but not being stupid enough to light one up inside the house, he stared at the toes of his grime-ridden shoes, figuring he'd best just get on with it. He took a deep sigh, steeled his courage and stepped forward. This was it. Do or die, though right now the latter of those two options definitely seemed easier.
Somehow, once he started talking, he found himself unable to stop. The story spilled from his mouth like word vomit, and he did his best to cover every detail he could, starting from when he, Sasha, Kasiya and Mitsu had met up with Blaine in Jubilife City, the reunions at the Cinnabar Gym/hotel, the gruesome account of how Mike had brutally attacked every Magma grunt in sight inside the base, and his final intentions of killing Maxie and taking himself out at the same. He'd even explained Milo and the other apparitions as best he could. Once he'd reached that final part, however, Keegan noticed his own voice had started to sound choked up and he felt a wetness on his face, and instantly he raised his hands to wipe it away, assuming his cuts had started bleeding again. This wasn't the case, however, as all he saw on his fingertips was a clear liquid, which had puzzled him until he realized they were tears. He was crying. How very unlike him. He drew in a shaky breath and wiped his face again, smearing the dried blood and grime, certain he'd never spoken that many words to Mrs Kyoka in his entire lifetime.
He was shaking now, as well, and he managed to turn his green eyes back on Mike's mother again. "So, there you have it," he said. "That's the whole story. Kasiya and Sasha brought him to the hospital in Lilycove because they've got the best one, and Flannery and I came back here to get you." ===== The training area out back was more or less what both trainers had expected - the traditional, white painted lines indicating the boundaries within the field, the divider line in the center, and of course, the two boxes on either end for the trainers to stand in. The ground was a hard packed, deep brown dirt and Miharu couldn't help but imagine a large, heavy steamroller making laps around the area, compacting the ground. Judging by the paint, it looked as though it had recently been refurbished. Miharu wasted no time in picking a side, and as soon as she did, she kicked off her sandals, already feeling the relief as the straps no longer agitated her blisters. She then went over her party in her mind, remembering that Lee had said Aska would be a poor choice to use against Steel-types, but she didn't want her Pidgeot falling behind the others. So, she selected the Bird Pokemon's PokeBall from her belt and released Aska, still a bit awestruck by the sight of the Pidgeot. Aska spread her wings and gently nuzzled her beak against Miharu's shoulder, chirping gently.
Leroy raised an eyebrow, having been in the process of choosing his Ariados to start the training, but seeing the bird made him rethink that. "I didn't think you were going to use your Pidgeot in the gym battle," he said, pondering his choice a little while longer before once again choosing his Houndoom. Though evolved now, it was still essentially the baby of the team, and nowhere near strong enough for Lee's liking. The canine snarled and bared its teeth, well aware of how unhappy his master was with his progress.
"I'm not," Miharu answered, gently stroking the Pidgeot's smooth feathers. "But I don't want her to feel left out or fall behind the others. That is, if you don't mind, of course." Aska trilled lightly in agreement.
"Oh, no, that's fine," Lee nodded. "And I get it. Should we begin? Ladies first," he added. In front of him, Houndoom continued to glower at his opponents.

The way that Roserade changed size and shape as it used Growth was almost hypnotic. Robin had to wrench her gaze away before she lost her focus in the battle. Hmm, what move to use next. With Luffy making the gym battle into a jungle gym now, he could practically strike from any angle. He had a lot of moves to use though, but which one would be the best? A lot of those moves weren't that strong, but then he had that ability or something that made them stronger didn't he? Robin was pretty sure he did. Still... with how that Roserade was moving she didn't really want him to get to close. An attack now would hurt even more! "All right Luffy!" She called out her mind made up. "Let's light up the night with stars! Use Swift!"
Luffy enjoyed running around and doing flips and such around the arena, even if his tail was smarting something from that stupid little cut. His seemingly endless amount of energy was just starting to notice that maybe that cut wasn't exactly natural. Still like before he wasn't going to let it stop him. If Robin called for a Swift then he was going to show them the best Swift ever! Gathering his energy he lept up into the air his tails spinning all around as stars erupted from each of the tailhands.

Dante who had been waiting for the strange bimbo biker to release their pokemon had to hide a quick shudder at the sight of the beast. There was just something about Tangela, and it's evolution that creeped him out. It might have been because when he was younger one had gotten pretty touchy with him until his mom had pulled it off him. Still, he wasn't going to let old memories stop him from winning this battle. He kept a bit of attention on the mass of vines as it seemed to get bigger and almost envelop itself around the beam it was on.
"Use Wil-o-Wisp." He called out. It was a flashy move, contests were supposed to be flashy right? And if it landed then it would cause some serious hurt over time while it cut down that pokemon's attack. Not that Kenny wasn't bulky enough now to take attacks like that though. He watched as the Dusclops waved it's large grey hands out and a bunch of blue fire spread out from them and headed towards the mass of plant.

Rowan listened to what the kid was saying silently his gruff exterior not belaying any hint to what he was thinking. As a Professor he often got stuck with strange things that really had nothing to do with his profession. He had come to accept this long ago and it no longer bothered him. Sometimes though he had to deal with cases like this and it lead him to a path he had to pick. Neither side was particularly appealing to the older man. Exposing the kid all of a sudden would either bring his memories back or send him running off from his former life. Rowan was rather fond of the kid, even if he didn't show it, and didn't really like those odds. On the other hand letting him wonder around wasn't exactly the best plan either. In truth he had been expecting him to get his memories back after a few days but that clearly wasn't happening. Maybe he did need a little nudge.
"His pokemon." He stated after a moment. "If you can get your hands on his pokemon and have them meet up with him randomly then maybe he might remember some things. Any trainer worth their salt forms a connection with their pokemon. A bond that cannot be broken even by something as silly as a lack of memories. Have his pokemon approach him gradually and maybe he will remember. At the very least he will be looked after and kept safe by them." That was probably the best idea. Have him avoid people from his old life and let some bonding time with his pokemon reform the connection with his memories. "I should let you know that he shouldn't see any people putting this together for him now should I?" That last part was a rather stern reminder.

Kasiya couldn't help but smile when she saw the flicker of recognition on Riza's face. After all, she remembered well the day her darling Nova hatched, as she'd been surrounded by people she knew and loved, and Riza had been there too, though they had only just been introduced. Now that Kasiya thought about it, she didn't know much about the dark-haired girl or her Pokemon or really all that much about her battling style, other than that she had that evolved Sneasel and a Gardevoir and the Quilava she was using now, and that she'd taken first place in the Cerulean Contest last night. That gave her a bit of cause for worry as she recalled how tough the Ice-type had been, and she knew Gardevoir were not to be underestimated as she'd been pretty well acquainted with Mitsu's Gardevoir, Karri. Kasiya realized at that point that she hadn't seen Karri battle all that much and her brow furrowed as the Quilava named Eris began the match with a Tackle attack.
"Yes, she did," replied Kasiya, now grinning from ear to ear. "A few days ago, actually." Nova, meanwhile, had squared herself against the advancing Quilava, the snarl having never left her face. "You know what to do, Nova, Dragon Dance!" Of course the Charmeleon knew what to do, and she raised her arms, the fiery, indigo aura already starting to encompass her. She moved to step out of the way of the Quilava's charge, but both she and her trainer had underestimated just how fast she was and Nova felt a jolt of pain through her right side as she was clipped hard by Eris' shoulder. That didn't stop her though, and she refused to cry out, instead moving swiftly and gracefully in the practiced steps of her Dragon Dance and beginning to feel faster and stronger as she drew in the power of dragons.
=-=-=-=-= Once the two girls had started battling, Karrigan found it difficult to take her eyes off the two, though it had occurred to her that watching two Fire-types battle it out could be good for her own Fire-type. Karrigan's fingers found the Pokeball that held Amber and with a flash of light, Amber appeared at her side. At first, the Vulpix yawned, but then she looked up at Karrigan and gave an awful scowl, perhaps still holding her trainer responsible for the pitiful battle inside the Celadon Gym. Karrigan knelt down and picked her up, despite the fox's protests. "I know you're upset with me, and you have every right," Karrigan said, lowering her head. "We weren't ready for that match, and it is my fault that we lost like that. I'm sorry, Amber. It won't happen again. We'll never be under-prepared again." Amber stopped struggling, intrigued by her trainer's confession and apology. Deep down, the fox knew she probably could have lasted longer if she'd listened, but she wasn't bringing that up. Instead, she poked Karrigan's nose with a dainty paw, the look in her golden eyes clearly stating "If we lose like that again, I am burning you to a crisp."
Feeling better and a little closer to her Vulpix, Amber settled herself in Karrigan's arms, content to watch the Fire-types fight. So far it looked to be a battle of speed and Amber wondered if she could contend with them. Karrigan jumped a little when she heard Amy's quiet voice beside her, and immediately, the redhead felt a little more relaxed. "I-it's fine," Karrigan nodded, and then looked out toward Riza, and Kasiya. "I don't think those two like each other very much. The girl with the black hair said some very rude things to the blonde girl, and now they're battling. They also said that Surge is in a battle with someone else, so we'll have to wait our turn." She glanced at her friend, noticing that something - she couldn't quite put her finger on what - was different about her. "Th-that man. Are you... is everything okay?" she asked.
=-=-=-=-= In the meantime, Jake had been inching around the two Pokemon, in hopes of retrieving the Pokeball he'd thrown beforehand, though he didn't take his eyes off the two Pokemon for long. It seemed this Magnemite had a somewhat short attention span, even if it was currently in a battle as it had seen a rock sticking out of the ground and was currently studying it. Bibarel had taken this moment to back up, still wary of the electricity that occasionally crackled from the magnet Pokemon, but Jake wasn't about to let her take a breather. "Water Gun!" he said, his voice barely a hushed whisper, but the Water and Normal-type heard him loud and clear. Bibarel steeled herself and once again unleashed a jet of water at her foe.
Just like before, the jet of water caught Magnemite in the side of the head and it spun around, eye narrowed in what appeared to be the first sign of annoyance, but this time it wasn't comical at all. Magnemite began to spark dangerously and before Bibarel could even begin to react, the magnet had launched a full-scale Thundershock at her. Bibarel let out what could only be described as a scream when the electricity hit her, and even though it wasn't the strongest electric attack out there, it still caused her severe damage. Static rolled across her body and she whimpered and toppled onto her back, hurting and winded but still able to fight.
Jake had only just come up with the missing Pokeball when he heard Bibarel's cries and he turned to see her on the ground, body rippling with electricity. Something clicked then, and he realized that he'd made a terrible mistake by sending Bibarel out against Magnemite - Water-types were weak against Electric-types. A few mild and one not-so-mild curse words escaped his mouth as he quickly recalled the beaver, apologizing profusely. The Magnemite had been weakened as well, hovering closer to the ground as it took more effort to stay airborne, but now it was watching Jake curiously. Jake recalled how it had shocked the worker and those flowers before, and it looked like it wanted to shock him, too. Fumbling, Jake managed to get his hands on Grotle's Pokeball and he released the Grass-type, hoping Grotle would fare better than Bibarel had.
=-=-=-=-= Barbie seemed to be in her element as the final round of the Underground Contest was in full swing now, waving to the cheering (and some jeering) crowd. Tangrowth seemed to enjoy the attention as well, balancing rather well on one of the beams and definitely giving the impression that it was not the first time it had seen this sort of setup on the battlefield. Both Barbie and Tangrowth snapped back to attention when they heard Dante give a command, and then just like that, the massive Dusclops' large hands were spreading out a ring of pretty blue fire. It was definitely flashy and the crowd cheered.
Not deterred in the slightest, Barbie gave a wave of her hand, long, multicoloured fingernails gleaming in the lights as she gave her counter order. "All right, Tangrowth, darling! Block it with your Ancientpower!" This move, of course, had been the very one that allowed for her darling to evolve from a much smaller Tangela. Tangrowth raised its long, powerful arms as well, its green body giving off a shimmer as it summoned an earthly power from deep within and several glowing rocks, nearly see-through, materialized, and were launched at the Will-o-Wisp. The two attacks smashed into each other, sending sparkles and beautiful wisps of blue fire that winked out after a few seconds raining through the air. Again the crowd cheered loudly, having been impressed by the pretty counter. "Is that all you've got, pretty boy?" Barbie called over to Dante, easily loud enough for him to hear.

Riza thought back to the times she'd encountered Kasiya, also trying to recall what Pokemon her opponent had. She had the idea that Kasiya had been doing this for a lot longer than she had, though at the moment she could only recall the Charmander/Charmeleon and the Raichu that had been stolen through. That made her a bit nervous and suddenly she realized that challenging the blonde may not have been the best idea she'd had as of late.
The command for a Dragon Dance got her attention though as it wasn't a move Riza had ever heard of the Charmander line using. Eris let out a growl as her Tackle didn't make a full hit, but Riza was glad it was at least a partial one. "Let it go, Eris," she said, shaking her head and realizing quickly that her Quilava wouldn't have many effective moves against a fellow fire-type, and she didn't want to use Extrasensory so soon and give it away. "Quick Attack, let's go!"
Eris didn't need to be told twice, digging in her paws for traction before she tore off toward the Charmeleon, white light trailing behind her. She was hoping to make essentially a drive by attack, get in, get the hit and get out again before Nova knew what had hit her. * * * * * As Gardenia watched the Ambipom race around the arena, showing off his acrobatic ability, she started to wonder if perhaps he had been poisoned from making contact with Roserade after all. Her own Pokemon was looking quite enthusiastic and energetic and she knew this match wasn't over just yet. Luffy released a beautifully executed Swift (once again causing Gardenia to think that he and Robin would do well in contests) and she knew this would be tricky for her Pokemon to counter and impossible to evade. The attack was honing in, and fast, so she'd have to act soon.
"Quick, Roserade! Poison Sting!" Gardenia shouted. Roserade gave the slightest nod to show that she understood and she thrust out her arms, the roses on each beginning to shine a violet-grey as they fired many small, barbed thorns at the oncoming stars. Roserade's aim was good, but not good enough as her Poison Stings made contact with at least half the oncoming Swift stars, but at the cost of the other half getting through and smashing into her. All in all, it probably would have been a better idea for Roserade to take the hit, and then counter with something unavoidable of her own, like Magical Leaf. Gardenia frowned at her mistake, but it didn't last long as it was replaced by her smile once again. Ah well, if you weren't making mistakes then you weren't learning, right? And even gym leaders still had things to learn.

Nova snarled, her twirling coming to a stop as her Dragon Dance was complete, and she flexed her claws, feeling strong and amped up for this battle, even though she'd already seen a few matches today. Even though the Charmeleon was still fairly young, Kasiya had a strange sense of confidence with the Fire-type out on the field, and she couldn't help but wonder if this was how Mike felt whenever he battled with Nitro, specifically in the days before the dragon had reached his full evolution.
The Quilava's speed was not to be underestimated, however, and even Kasiya had difficulty keeping her eyes trained on the speeding Fire-type as she streaked in toward Nova. "Brace yourself, Nova!" she called. "Fight back with a Dragon Claw when she hits you!"
The Charmeleon did just that, digging in her claws and readying herself as her opponent drew closer. Eris was fast, and though they were currently opponents, it was already terribly difficult for Nova not to feel a degree of respect for the Quilava's speed and skill. Eris' hit was so fast that Nova herself almost missed it, save for the sudden pain she experienced in her side as she was side-swiped by a tan and beige blur. Her claws, ablaze with an indigo flame, slashed nothing but air as she made a late attempt to strike the Quilava, who sadly, was long gone before Nova could properly react.

Crenu crossed his arms again and watched the battle field, thinking of his next move. Ariados Hung up on her webs and stared at the magnetic orbs beneith her feeling unnerved by its cold metalic existance, it was so....unatural. They didn't have long to decide on their next move however as Surge gave another command, and much to Crenu's dislike it was a move he wasn't that familiarl with. None the less the horseshoe shaped magnets flew at Ariados and she retreated backwards along the web hissing at them. "Move to another web." Crenu commanded, but the moment that Ariados leaped to a new strand the magnets changed course and came right after her. Much to her horror the magnets stuck to her body and detonated, each exploding one after another destroying the webbing she was on and sending the violet spider crashing to the ground. "Tch, another homing attack? She isn't even made of metal." Crenu said to himself through clenched jaws, but watched as Ariados got to her feet starting to pant a bit. ThY surprising attack stung but not nearly as much as the electrical one, though it still annoyed her to no ends. "Hmm, homing or otherwise that attack lacked power, what Magneton has in special attacking power it lacks in physical. The nature of pokemon are curious indeed but generally balanced. Night Shade again Ariados." Right now this was their best move to use against the electric steel type, and all the chunks they could take from its stamina was key to taking the sturdy magnet pokemon down. Ariados felt the same way and wasted no time, digging her forelegs into the ground and releasing the living shadow that was Night Shade.

"Secure his pokemon and introduce them bit by bit?" At first the plan sounded like an unorthodox shot in the dark, but maybe it wasn't such a stretch after all. It was true that trainers and their pokemon formed powerful bonds over time, good or bad, and Jae's pokemon were very strong indeed. That kind of time and effort put into raising pokemon lead to serious trust and remained locked in the heart, if his mind didn't remember his heart might. He loomed at Rowan and nodded as he sat down again. "Dont worry, I understand. It's hard to think I'll see him but he won't see me, the urge to be closer than that to a missing friend is there....but it is for the best. I'll be the ninja that introduces his pokemon as if they were random wild encounters, oh I've got the perfect outfit for that!" Ken exclaimed as he started rummaging through his bag for workable fabric and his sewing supplies, but stopped as he looked at Rowan. "But that comes later, this is a serious matter I know. Hmm, you say if I can get my hands on his pokemon...I take it he didn't arrive with them then or you may ubersexual tried this yourself. That's the first challenge, if I'm lucky his pokemon will be with his family, but even then how to get them without letting anyone know he is here... And the other challenge is in the introduction. If he is introduced to his old pokemon holding pokeballs he would know someone was pulling the strings. I'll have to release them and he'll have to recapture them won't he? If he remembers and chooses to do so that is. If not this could be devastating to the pokemon as well, we have to consider that as well. If I do find them I'll have to have a serious talk with them so they understand the situation and the ruse we are trying to pull here. Very tough...but Kenneth Breeman, coordinator extraordinare, can get it done! Thank you for your wisdom Professor. All that's left is a lead to his position, it'll do no good to find his pokemon if I can't find him to reconnect them." Ken was excited and eager to get going, and he really wanted to make a slick cute ninja suit to wear too.

"This is pretty convinient, even if its a little shakey." Jason said with a grin as he rode Atlas out of the cave, the sun above beaming down on them as the moved along. Atlas missed the cave and tasty rocks it had inside it but this path was pretty gravely too and it felt good against his stone body. "What kind of city do you think Oreburg is? It's a mining town that guy said...so maybe there's lots of tough miner guys with those cool flashlight helmets and pickaxes! And rock pokemon just walking around too. Oh, I bet the rock pokemon got disturbed by the miners digging into their homes, that's kinda mean...but then again they might like the wider caves. But not the noise...hmm. Yup, that settles it. As a future researcher its our duty to check his mine out and see how the pokemon are doing." Jason said with determination as they neared the cities entrance. "First thing is first, talk to the head of the mine and see what he has to say! So...who's in charge here anyway?" Jason said looking around curiously not at all considering it might loom strange to ride in on an Onix, but then again maybe no one would mind in this mining town.

'Oh wow, it worked!' Riza thought, holding back a giddy laugh. She hadn't had too many battles with her Quilava at all since they'd been together, so it was definitely good to be getting some work in. She hadn't missed the glowing of Nova's claws, however, and she silently recalled the move Kasiya had called. 'Dragon Claw, no way.' she thought. 'If that one hits, it'd really hurt Eris.' Eris, meanwhile, had retreated to her starting point, her little chest rising and falling in rapid succession from the exertion. She hadn't missed the sight of the Charmeleon's glowing claws and she too had no intentions of being hit by those.
'I need go pick out some TMs for Eris, I think,' Riza thought, trying to formulate a plan. Those run by attacks probably wouldn't work more than a few times before Kasiya and Nova picked up on their timing, so for now, they should buy themselves some time. "Okay Eris, it's time for Smokescreen," the dark haired girl said finally. Eris pouted for a second, wanting nothing more than to blast her opponent away with her psychic powers, but it seemed Riza still wanted to keep those hidden. The flames on her back and head flared up for a moment and then died down, creating a thick black smoke that began to pour out from the now empty pores. It would make the battlefield difficult to navigate, and give them time to figure out how to beat that Charmeleon.
