Loa responded before the prince, and seemed much kinder. She was right. Rose hadn't thought of what could happen to her and her family...she just couldn't help but see her own situation ending with her in the dungon. For the gental reminder, Rose mentally thanked Loa. When the prince spoke, though, it was much harsher than before, and to be honest, it hurt. They were both acting different with this new man who her butterflies even steered clear of. This man who seemed to have an aura of hostility every time he spoke. What was this guy's problem? As if to answer, the man spoke to the prince and Loa and Jaremy, and Rose understood. She understood perfectly. He was a racist. A self richeous man who thought that humans were the most amazing creations on Earth, and that against the likes of "his kind", all others were scum on the Earth only fit to lick the shoes of the humans and be human slaves. Just like her father would, rage boiled inside her, and she opened her mouth when Jeremy spoke pretty much everything she was thinking. Surprised, her mother's calm nature took control as Loa took Jeremy off. It was her mother's calm that kept her with the prince instead of going with Loa and Jeremy. Riordan would need someone on his side, after all. "I do not believe we have been formally introduced." Rose noted carefully. She had to think on her toes, now. This Demetri just said Loa would have been hung at one point, and there was some sort of peacock man standing right by him that he didn't know was what he detested. "My name is Rose Moreno. My family just became nobels today, so I'm not accostumed to such heated debates." she looked back twords her two new found friends, going through how to say things just right, "The prince and all of the people I've met have treated my family and myself kindly. The king seems to even have taking a liking to us." She was about to finish when-
Tony saw little Kyle Alexander squirming while Loa was looking at the peacocks. He knew the dance well. "Gotta go, Kyle Alexander?" he didn't need the answer. The boy NEEDED to go. Without a word, Tony went on a venture to find the a place for him to go potty. He berely made it when he found the room with the whole dug deep. He didn't dare look to see if the rumors were true of pots being kepts that servants had to clean out each day. He let the tiny boy do his business. He wondered momentarily if Rose had noticed them gone. She wouldn't be too worried, he was sure. Once the boy was done, the had to maze their way back in time to hear the new voice and the man's opinons on other races, and Jeremy's outburst. Tony opened his mouth before Jeremy spoke his words. He went off with Loa. Rose was speaking now, trying to give her peice of mind carefully it seemed when he realized that Kyle Alexander had squirmed out of his hands.
Kyle Alexander interupted his sister, tears in his eyes, "Loa nice. Loa's kind and really nice, and yur mean! Your mean cuz you hurt her feelings." tears rolled dorn them as the boy shook, terrified of speaking to this man he didn't know, but childish anger ruling out the fear, "Loa helps the prince, and the prince truat her, not you! You meanie head. Say sorry! Say sorry right n-now..." his anger gave way to his sadness, and the boy cried.
Rose picked up Kyle Alexander, seeing her dad with his mouth agape...yup, they would loose their nobel status for sure...or, "...making such a ruckus as to make a small child cry...I doubt the king would be happy to hear about this at all." she sighed, holding kyle Alexander, who was trying to speak through his sobs in vein.

Jody listened to the conversation between Jeremy and Sir Conrad, but couldn't really see them without turning his head. Thank you, Jeremy, for being stupid enough to say everything for the rest of us.
He kept eye contact with Riordan while he spoke and smiled faintly. It was a grim smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. He had the protection he'd sought from his family now, but he was basically trading one hierarchy for another. Riordan seemed unusually fair-minded for someone with so much power, but would he really be any better? Not like there's anything out there for me anymore. Nothing to do but trust him. "Crystal," Jody replied.
He had been aware of Rose talking to Conrad, but suddenly a much younger voice cut her off. Jody's eyes widened a little in surprise, and he looked down to see Kyle Alexander scolding Conrad. He bit his lip, partly to avoid smiling, and partly out of nervousness for what could happen to Rose's family--the Morenos, if he'd heard her correctly.

Oralee frowned softly when the girl produced the vine and declared it elven magic. "Not quite. Elven magic is an affinity for nature- what you did was elemental magic. Though, many elves have shown a tendency towards that style of magic. And yes, a rare few humans can develop the magic, if they're close enough to nature spiritually." Oralee shook her head roughly. "We're wasting time. What do you all need to do in order to be ready to leave?" She lifted her gaze. "Any affairs to settle?"

Slaine jumped and glanced at his sister. "I'm not even really sure. It seems we're rushing off to save the prince, that little girl is coming because of some truth-curse on her, and our patient has every desire to leave now. I'm having trouble following myself." He murmured it back into her ear, before glancing up at Oralee. "I just need to leave a note for the doctor who comes in to help Faelynn and I." He did so, scribbling in his surprisingly neat handwriting, and turning towards Oralee. Or Nye, as she appeared to everyone at the moment

Owen blinked with a small measure of alarm at the girl. "I- Uh-" He glanced around, as if for help. He'd wanted to meet more children around his age, but he hadn't expected one quite so... determined to marry him. Giving up, he smiled and shrugged. "Whatever you'd like, milady." He was young, but he knew she might like the term.

King Kennard had left the room with his youngest son, trusting him into the care of Lady Melody and her ambitious daughter. He heard a slight commotion as he walked through the hallways, and followed the noise. As he did, it got louder, and a young voice contributed. He stepped out to see the young Lady Rose holding her brother and scolding Demitri. He'd heard the young boy's words, and approuched Demitri. "I take it you expressed your usual opinion on Beastials, and the boy has affection towards Loa, and lashed out?" He glanced at Kyle Alexander, and said calmly. "I'm sure Demitri meant no insult, young one." Kennard smiled at Demitri. "Children get so attached so quickly to people, do they not?" With Kennard there- known very well for his affection towards children- it would be very hard to lash out at the young boy.

Loa heard Kyle Alexanders words, and turned around, but before she could approach and help him, assure him she was not hurt and everything was okay, the king had arrived. She stood stiffly, unsure how he'd react, but once she heard his Majesty's words and tone of voice, she knew that he would allow nothing to happen to a child.

Riordan nodded to Jody "Good. This will work well for the both of us." and he then turned towards Demitri, ready to protect the now noble family, but his father arrive and did it for him. He breathed a sigh of relief, and looked to his father, "He had also had a disagreement with Jeremy Revelin. You know, the one who harasses the Council regularly. A very strong disagreement of viewpoints." He turned a harsh eye towards Demitri, "I think you can forgive him. He spoke out of anger. Like the young Kyle Alexander, he too has a soft spot for beastials. I'm sure can forgive him this one grievance, no?"

Jeremy stood next to Loa, ready to defend her. He had always had a soft spot for her. In his eyes, despite her rigorous training, and impressive physical strength, he saw a vulnerability. She was sweet and kind. "Yes, sire." He said looking to the King, pointedly ignoring Demitri, "He said some rather rude things. They almost sounded like veiled threats against Loa. And threatening the Princes personal bodyguard, that is near treason. It is she who protects the Prince, the future ruler, after your long, and hopefully much longer, reign has ended. I was upset, I will admit. And I may have said some things that were uncalled for." He said, not believing his own words, and the king had to know it. But, it was all for show. He then looked to Demitri, a slightly mocking smile on his face, "I apologize for my rudeness Sir Conrad. Please, accept my humbel apology." He said giving a small bow. Demitri wouldn't do anything stupid with both the Prince backing him up, and the King present.

Alexandre nodded to Oralee, the Doctors, The random girl, the annoying theif, the annoying theifs apparent girlfriend....this was far too large of a group. "We should get moving. We have no idea when the Prince will....." He looked momentarily towards Madison, "Have a dangerous situation occur. The faster we move, the better. Nye." He said looking to Oralee, "Shall, I scout ahead? Or should we send the thief, and I stay near you, as a bodyguard should?"

"I've got a name. It's Lorne. And as much as I hate to agree with Mr. stick-in-the-a**," He said, jerking a thumb at Alexandre, "We oughta, leave. And I'm faster than him, and I can hide easier. I'll scout. I'm sure Godelieve could help me." He said giving her a smile and a wink.

Kennard glanced over at his son, frowning softly at his next words. "I know who Jeremy Revelin is." He'd gotten many letters from the boys father, asking after his son, and asking him to keep Loa away from him. Kennard flickered a glance at Loa, watching as she let go hastily of his arm. Did he have to worry about them, now? What was with Loa and the young gentlemen? I suppose if she weren't a beastial or elf, she would be a fair young lady. "It's harder to swallow, as young Revelin is still an adult, but I myself can't claim to have no temper..." His eyes peered at the boy. The revolutionary. How a boy like him had come to be, Kennard would never know. "I suppose," He listened with an intent ear to Jeremy, tilting his head. "Veiled threats? What exactly did you say?" Kennard glanced over at Demitri. When Jeremy apologized, Kennard smiled and, to keep the peace, stated, "Well, there you have it. The young lad apologized. Work on getting a grip on your temper in the future though, boy." Kennard was well aware Jeremy didn't mean his words, but if he was willing to keep the peace, so was the king.

Loa bowed to the king as he approached, and though she wanted to answer his question on what had been said, she knew better than to speak. While not quite his equal, Jeremy was on the same level as the king. Loa... Loa was far below. Glancing over at the man Riordan had been speaking with, Loa could tell from his facial features that the matter had been decided. This man had been dealt with, and since it hadn't involved calling the guards, Loa assumed that meant he was on their side now. She realized this mere moments before she heard the kings voice, "And who are you, young man?" Loa thought quickly, and murmured. "He is one who desires to be trained to be a bodyguard to the prince, your majesty. I was bringing him to His Highness for his approval before I begun his training."

Kennard frowned darkly. "I see. Remember to bring trainee's to my notice as well." Kennard bit his tongue to prevent any nasty names from leaving his lips. He was enraged that his son's protection was being left solely to the opinion of his son and this... this bird. They didn't trust him, and didn't consult him. This could be an assassin. Forcing his thoughts away, he actually turned to Demitri. "I was wondering, Demitri, if you might speak with me again on your views of this Incolumitas treaty." He motioned towards the castle.

Oralee glanced back at Alexandre and Lorne. "You both have a point, Lorne should scout. And provided Godelieve doesn't distract you, I'm sure she could help." As she stepped outside she prepared her horse. "How many of you have horses?" She asked, before motioning Madison over to her. "You will ride on mine, Madison." Turning, Oralee fixed her gaze on Alexandre and Lorne. "Oh, and if you two are going to bicker the whole way there, fight it out now, get healed up by Slaine, and move on." It was said calmly, but firmly. She shook her head. "That's a suggestion, by the way. I don't intend to give orders. I'm new at this working in a group thing, but groups discuss. Nonetheless, if we have nothing else to do, let's get to going."

Slaine blinked, and glanced at Faelynn. "We have a horse for emergency visits, should we take her?"

When the king turned up again, Jody stood very still and hoped maybe he wouldn't be noticed. As always, he paid close attention to the conversation. When the king finally got around to asking who he was, he managed to keep his face largely expressionless (though he suspected his eyes may have widened a smidge, although it probably just looked like he was turning his full attention to the king).
Luckily, Loa answered for him and gave him a chance to fully compose himself, and the king didn't seem interested in his name or any further explanation, though he did look rather displeased. Unimportant for now. You answer to Riordan and Loa, not the king. It was probably because Loa introduced me and he just generally seems to dislike her.

ÛžDemitri ConradÛž

Demitri simply looked at Jeremy as the boy's words flowed forth. The man stayed quiet but his eyes grew dark. His jaguar however turned its attention from the intruder to look at Jeremy. The summon wore a similar expression to its master one of bottled fury. As Loa dragged the upstart youth off the new noble took her turn at speaking to him. His demeanor changed from the glowering rage to one of clam amusement. He remain silent as each person took their turn for what they had to say. Upon hearing someone else approaching Demitri turned his head to see the King. Once more his personality went through a shift. He quickly bowed showing nothing but respect for King Kennard. Even his summon lowered its head in respect. "Your Majesty" He addressed as he rose from his formality His focus was intensely on the King giving him his full attention and waited for a lull in the conversation to speak.

"Forgiveness is a virtue I take heed to practice. After all though our ideals may differ I can't be angered by such powerful conviction. Though it would be wise to learn to express it selectively. It would serve you much better. As for these threats he seems to have heard I must apologize. I have just finished teaching a class and it takes me a bit to get out of my professor persona. I simply gave a history lesson that Loa's position would not have been possible long ago and that even her current location would have had dire consequences. I was not questioning her ability to preform her duties." He explained knowing that they way he was spinning his story it would be quite tough to counter to make it seem worse regardless of what he may or may not have actually intended. As the King questioned about Jody, Demitri carefully watched the King's expression change and the cogs inside his mind began to turn. He took the information he had gathered among the short conversation and simultaneously came up with a plan that would help protect the prince and provide him with a bit of revenge. "Sire, I sent a messenger with a note about the Trainee. I guess I'll have to have a talk with them about punctually delivering messages. During these times of turmoil Loa suggested a another bodyguard and I agreed as strategy dictates it would be a significant advantage. Though I gave the suggestion of someone more experienced Loa wished to train one herself and agreed to take full responsibility." He stated with a small smile knowing he had played his cards well. He didn't trust Jody and this would help a bit more by keeping any harm from coming to the Prince as well as if for some reason he did do something treacherous it would fall on Loa's shoulders as well.

He then turned back to the King and nodded. "Yes, This treaty is very important topic and I will speak on it as many times that you wish me to. I find it humbling that you value my opinion." He expressed as he waved his hand and dispersed the jaguar summon only to re summon the small primate on his shoulder once more.

Alexandre sighed, "I have nothing against the thi....Lorne." He said calmly. "And I have no horse. But I am used to long arduous travels on foot." He said and he nodded to Lorne, "Don't get distracted by your girlfriend. We are on a time limit. We don't know how long of one though."

Lorne rolled his eyes, "Yeah, cause I get distracted easily. Two pairs of eyes are better for scouting than one." He looked to Godelieve, "You wanna come?" He asked, not responding at all to the girlfriend comment.

Riordan glanced at Loa momentarily, a little confused, but decided to go along with it. "Yes. I prefer a bodyguard to be hand picked. I know I can trust them then." He said smiling, "And I trust this man. He is as loyal a man as I could find. And a bodyguard that doesn't appear as a bodyguard......better to throw off would be attackers. They don't expect a plainly dressed civilian to attack them from behind. You must remember, not all attacks occur in private." He said to both his father and Demitri.

Faelynn smiled softly. "It's alright Slaine, I can understand. I'm a bit lost and confused myself." She watched as her brother wrote the note, and signed off on it, as she was one of the head doctors as well. When Slain asked about the horse, Fae could only chuckle. "Well, this is considered an emergency, wouldn't it?" She walked calmly to where their horse was and stroked it's mane. "Hey there. We're going on an adventure, be good for me?" After a pause, she smiled. "Thank you."

When Oralee explained that what she had was elemental magic, Godelieve humbled. "I am sorry, I was never taught a difference." Her accent slipped a bit, but she would quickly regain her composure. She smiled and blushed faintly at Lorne's wink and nodded. Godelieve ignored Alexandre's comment and spoke this time. "Sure, I don't see why not." She calmly walked up to Lorne's side and gave a nod of approval.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 05, 2012 7:25 pm

Oralee gave a slight, but distracted, smile to Godelieve. "That's alright." Oralee had learned from Nye, and then the streets, and then from Nyer's hired teachers. As far as she knew, her own elven magic was minimal, but still. "If never taught, one can not be expected to know."

Slaine nodded, and let Faelynn take the horse. He could walk and, hopefully, keep up with everybody. If not, the horse was strong enough to carry both him and his sister for a time.

Loa shrugged once they were gone. "I apologize, your highness. I recognized from your expression that you had allied yourself with him in some fashion, and wished to keep the king from questioning." Even if that had backfired a little bit, in that the king looked angry.

Kennard nodded as Demitri spoke. "Whatever you think is wise, my friend." Kennard shook his head slightly. "This war everyone is proposing- to my son, because they all believe I'm going to die- I'm worried... What if Incolumitas is stronger than we suspect? It's a small country, but those who've fled to it..." he shook his head. "Are we being wise?"

Or a peacock, Jody thought absently when Riordan tried to further justify his presence to the king. It had happened to him more than once. I wonder, does she actually intend to train me as a bodyguard? Will the king notice if she doesn't? Even if Riordan trusts me enough to keep me around, I don't think I'd make a very good bodyguard. Not that I've ever tried to be good at that sort of thing. Still. No point asking, you'll probably find out in a minute or two. He watched Riordan in silence, waiting for the prince's response to Loa's explanation.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 06, 2012 12:22 pm

Riordan nodded to Loa, "I was just caught off guard by the bodyguard line. But it works." He looked to Jody, "And it gives you good reason to be nearby, but a reasonable distance. Listening in, where I can't." He said with a small smile, "As I said, this could be mutually beneficial. If you are indeed looking to avoid being seen, no better place than the castle. And in working for me directly, you are under my protection." He then placed a hand on Jodys shoulder and gripped tightly, "Don't make me regret placing my trust in you. I would hate for our....agreement, to end badly between us." He looked to Loa, "You might want to teach him at least a bit about being a bodyguard. Just enough to help him keep up the ruse."

Jeremy was still seething at Demitri. Jeremy had heard the stories about Demitris issues with beastials. But to take them out on Loa? That was uncalled for. And he was also one of Jeremys biggest problems. "I'm sorry, if I caused any problems. And, it appears the spy is now an ally?" He said, glancing to Rose, "Interesting first day as a noble?"

Lorne nodded to Godelieve. "Lets go sweetie. I'll go incognito." He said as he focused his magic and his form slowly shifted into a red fox. He then darted off, looking like just another forest animal, something few people would give a second glance. Though, a beastial running along rooftops might draw a little too much attention.

As Lorne transformed Alexandre raised an eyebrow, "Well, that is an interesting skill. Perhaps he will be useful. He is fast and agile. And transformation magic could come in handy, depending on how skilled he is with it." He mused. He had half listed to the exchange between Godelieve and Oralee. "Nye, would you be able to teach her any magic? Or are we all just companions of convenience."

"True. Although," Jody, mindful of the presence of Tony and Kyle Alexander, leaned closer to Riordan and whispered, "I think it would be ideal if we keep the number of people who know I can shapeshift to a minimum." He returned Riordan's smile, and although small, it was at least genuine that time. He locked eyes with Riordan once again before responding to the last thing the prince said to him. "Same to you, though I can't back myself up with execution threats." He was also glad to hear that the bodyguard excuse had indeed been a ruse.

((Edited)).

Oralee frowned softly. "Not elven magic. I do not know enough to teach it." she glanced at all of the people around her. "I am an illusionist, so you will likely see me in different forms. I am of elven blood, however." She glanced at where Lorne had rushed off, noting the form he took, and nodded to Godelieve. "I can teach you some illusion magic, if you wish to know it and do not yet." Oralee began the walk, guiding the horse that she had had Madison mount.

Loa gave a nod. "I'll teach the basics, and if he fails at them, we'll say I adjusted his use to merely being a personal servant. You don't have a valet, do you your highness? If necessary, we can pretend he has been hired for that instead.". She glanced at Jody. "Unless there's something else you'd suggest?" Loa turned to Jeremy, and frowned softly. "Speaking frankly, that was incredibly dumb to do. None of us want to see you dead." In fact, she'd rather he lived. Her friends were few

Jeremy shrugged to Loa, "He wouldn't have tried anything. Demitri is an a**, but he's not stupid." Jeremy said crossing his arms, "The Revelin name is both respected and feared. He doesn't want to test why it is feared. Honestly I think its only because the meaning of the name, Rebellion. Two, both of you are here, and he wouldn't be foolish enough to attack me in front of you. And three, I just said what everyone else is thinking. Though, I will try to remain more tactful in the future." Jeremy then locked eyes with Loa, "But his words about you were a veiled threat, and an insult. I will not stand for that. You have as much right as me, or Rose, or even Riordan to have good life. Your race, and circumstances of your birth should not matter when it comes down to it. I'll be damned if I let him act like it does."
