"Good choice." Dante put the cd in the stereo. He went to track twelve. The opening wail of the singer played and Dante started singing along. He looked over at Victoria and wondered what she was thinking. He couldn't picture her listening to this type of music. He continued driving and reached in the compartment. He counted the cds with out looking and pulled out The Wall. "I'm sure you are probably scared to death of this music, so I'll change it. How does this sound." he said as he handed it to her while focusing on the road. They were about 5 blocks away from her house.

"Oh, I work at a record store. My friend owns it."
Aria took a bite of the sandwich, which was delicious as always, and she set it down.
"It's a nice place and I have a great boss. So...what about you?"

Victoria jumped when the music started going. God, how could he listen to this? Her eyes wide, she wanted to plug her ears, but didn't want to seem rude, so she clenched her seat belt and stared out the window at the familiar streets. When he asked her about a new CD and handed it to her, she almost crumpled in relief. Taking it in her hands, she made sure to glance over it before nodding. She listened to it for a minute, and hearing the softer music, she let go of her seat belt and glanced over at Dante silently, wondering what he himself was thinking. Probably that she was a shy freak that couldn't control her emotions. Just at this thought, she blushed instantly and sighed. Daren nodded at her response, deciding that was okay, and he mumbled in response. "I'm my dad's assistant at his..office." Embarrassed at his own pitiful answer, he glanced down at his coffee and took a careful sip. It was still a little hot, but not nearly as bad as a few minutes earlier.

The mellow sounds of Pink Floyd flowed through the speakers as he pulled close to the curb at in front of her apartments. He stopped the car and continued listening to the song. It ended and he looked over at her. "Well we're here." he said as he turned the car off. He grabbed the keys and put them in his pocket. He waited for Victoria to make a motion towards the door before he would open his. He didn't want to rush or anything.

Victoria inhaled a breath and let it out slowly, looking up at her apartment, which was lit up, but honestly didn't look very homey to her. She made a face, again wondering why she was going to this party, and opened her door, immediately feeling the rain. It was now only a soft pouring, but out of reaction, she ran up to the porch, her hair now looking horribly frizzy and her face wet, she waited to see if Dante was coming inside, and kind of hoped he would not. She really didn't want him to see the crappy apartment. But she would let him in if he wanted to come inside.

"You work for your dad? That must be awesome!!!"
Aria scarfed down the rest of the sandwich and drank the rest of the water.
"Sorry, but no one ever said I was girly. Anywho, what's it like? Working for your dad?"

Dante ran to the door and caught up with Victoria. He held the door open for her to lead the way to her apartment. As he followed he mentioned to her, "We should go there looking spiffy. Like kinda dressed up, ya know? To stand out a little ya." Dante had an idea and hopefully it would work the way he wanted.

Victoria sighed when he held the door open but nodded at his suggestion. Dressy...crap. She didn't have anything that...wait, she did! She ran into her room, breathless, and gestured wildly for him to come in. She knew exactly what to wear. Hurrying into her closet, she closed her bedroom door and quickly changed into this: ((Just the dress and bow)) She came back out, still trying to put the hair bow in and failing. Frustrated, she glanced at Dante and blushed, hoping she didn't look like a moron in front of him, or too much like a...girl. She gritted her teeth and finally yanked the hair bow out once again, giving up with it. Saying nothing, she stared at the floor, whispering, "I'm ready." Screw hair and make up, she didn't really have much make up anyways, so she didn't bother with it. And she knew her hair would just get messed up in the rain once again anyways. Daren was surprised she was interested in his Dad's work. "Oh, it's nothing really. He's just a lawyer..and stuff. Kinda works for the government too. In a way." He knew it was hard to explain, so he pursed his lips and quit, again taking his coffee in both of his hands and taking a sip, glancing out the window thoughtfully.

He looked at Victoria with amazement. "You look great." he said after he picked up the bow. He looked at it and tried to put it in her hair for her. He failed at first but he finally got it. "My friends place is not to far from here. Maybe five minutes at the most." He walked out the door and waited for Victoria to lock up.

Aria was totally invested in the conversation now.
"The government!? No way! Wow, you must meet alot of important people."

Surprised that he had actually gotten the bow in and embarrassed at his closeness, she blushed furiously and watched him walk out the door, totally missing what he had said seconds earlier. She sighed and turned back around, walking back into her bedroom to dig into her jean pockets for the key. She took it out and walked back into her closet, put the key into a small hang blue purse, and placed the key into the purse. She zipped it up and locked the front door, hurrying out into the rain. She stood in front of the car door, waiting for Dante to get in so she didn't seem rude. It was his car, after all. Dante was shocked that she was actually interested, so he leaned back in the chair and stared at her for a moment, mostly at the pink streaks in her hair, and pursed his lips before saying, "Not really." He laughed at the truthful answer and then sighed. "I usually only go in to help him two days a week for about six hours each time. I only get about ten bucks an hour. Which is why I don't have a car. And my mom is too stubborn to..." He trailed off, slightly embarrassed that he was talking about his life, but he was flattered she was interested.

Dante opened her door to let her in, and he jogged around the car to get in. He got in and started the car. He took out his cell phone to call Xavier. The phone rang twice before he picked up. Dante could hear music in the background and people were already there.
"I can't believe you started the party without me X. How rude." Dante said in a jokingly laughing manner. Dante was quiet as his friend talked. "Yeah. We'll be there in a bit. Victoria and I that is." He paused again. "I don't know where she is. I could care less right now anyway." He paused again. "Yeah I know I should, but I can't make decisions for her." He paused one last time. "Xavier. I know. But can we drop it? I'll be over there in a few." Dante put his phone back in his pocket, and looked at Victoria.
"Sorry about that. Things are a little rough between Aria and I." He started the car and they left for Xavier's house. He flipped through the channels on the radio, but didn't stop on any of them. He angrily turned off the radio. "Why does everyone thing I should be her savior." he said out loud. It was directed to no one, and it was more of a thought. He calmed down and stopped at the light. He glanced at Victoria before the light changed to green. "We're not going to stay long. Maybe twenty minutes at the most. I have other ideas for tonight. Plus I have a feeling that the party will be turned towards everything that's going on, and to be honest, it's too much to handle right now." He put his arm on the arm rest and relaxed. They turned onto Xavier's street.

Victoria took a deep breath when he opened her door and stayed quiet while he made a call to a friend, blushing when he told her about Aria "rough patch" between them. She sighed and muttered, "All of my fault," but it wasn't meant to be said out loud, and she turned quickly towards the window, hoping he didn't hear. Apparently he didn't because he started talking about other ideas for tonight and she relaxed slowly, her tense position in the seat becoming more of a leaning back against the head rest. She turned, feeling an arm against hers, and she turned red when she saw Dante's arm on the rest. She immediately took hers off and folded her hands together, staring dimly out the window, her lips pressed together in a straight line. It didn't matter how long they stayed, she was doing this for Dante, her friend.

Aria listened intently as Daren explained the situation. Well, she was listening, but she was also lost in his eyes.
"I don't have a car because I like to walk." Aria laughed.
She looked out the window and saw that the rain had subsided a little.

Daren grinned at her statement and stood up, his coffee now gone, and threw the cup in the trash can. He tilted his head, his eyes warm as he asked her quietly, "You ready?" He gave her a small smile, just enough that his lips pulled up at the corners, and frowned at the hair getting into his eyes. He blew at it and then felt stupid, so he stopped and stared at her sheepishly, sliding his hands into his pockets.
