I wiped him clean... I didn't want him to have to deal with whatever human memories may have been left over. Drean thought for a moment, then went up the stairs, leaving them alone with the disabled cyberman.

" Drat. Oh well." The Doctor sat down on a chair. Katrina followed Drean. "Drean, I'm sorry but you have got to stop this! Talk to us what's wrong?"

Drean turned back around, facing Katrina. I can't cry anymore, Katrina! I can't even show how much I miss my parents beacuse what killed them is slowly but surely getting ME! He slammed his fist on his chest to illustrate, sending a metallic ringing through the air. I don't want to be a machine forever! Once again, the irises of his eyes flashed red, this time twice, like some kind of warning. He let out a long sigh as the blinking stopped, calming down. I-I'm sorry, Katrina... I just wish that I didn't have to deal with always fighting to stay human...

Drean shook his head in disagreement. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, let alone you... It's a little funny. I still feel an ache in my chest, even though it's made of metal, now. The ache still comes from where my heart was.

The Doctor overheard the conversation. " Well actually I do have an idea. There's this substance called flesh which is basically synthetic skin. We could hook Drean up and make a synthetic body for him. His body would just stay in hibernation while the flesh version could run around. And he'd be in full control of course."

Drean paused for a moment at the Doctor's words, taking a moment to access his personal memory. It's- It's possible. If the Tardis could stabilize the copy, we could download another copy of my mind into it... And shut down this body. He looked down again at his cyber-hand. As easily as flexing a muscle, a plate slid open and a small blaster emerged, swiveled from side to side, and hid itself away again. I could be really and honestly human again.

The Doctor smiled. " A few modifications the TARDIS should be able to do it. I'll go set up a station for your body now and you can start working on how you want to look."

Well, the template should be stored in the Tardis matrix. I already know. Drean said quietly. I've always held on to a human self-awareness there.

The Doctor gave a nod. " Sounds good. I'll go then and let you know when I'm ready." The Doctor trotted down the stairs and off to the TARDIS. Katrina smiled. " Oh I'm so happy! You'll be.. well pretty much human!"

Drean cringed a little, but a grin quickly overtook his face. Yeah, pretty much! After a few more minutes of showing Katrina around the lighthouse, Drean returned to the Tardis, eager to see if the Doctor was ready.

Katrina followed Drean back to the TARDIS. " Doctor?" The Doctor almost immediately came bounding up to them. " Almost ready! Just need to adjust a few things."

Drean nodded, then turned back to Katrina. Well... This might be the last time you see me like this. He paused for a moment, then pulled her into a quick hug. Without saying anything else, he plugged himself back into the Tardis, several wires locking into different points on his arm. His blue eyes flickered, dimmed, and went out. As his virtual self came up on the monitor, his body disconnected and walked away, moving stiffly, like a robot.
He'll go put himself into storage and lock down... Drean looked out at Katrina. It was only here, in simulated flesh-and-bone that he began to blush. And I'll download a copy of myself into the flesh...
