"My gun ran out of bullets," She frowned, looking at the girl with face tattoos (which is pretty cool in a crazy goth type of way) before looking around, trying to recall all their names, "Having said that, I would appreciate it if anyone could toss a loaded gun my way... I still have my bat, if anyone needs that. And bandages too." It's not as if she would be able to use her bat as effectively now anyway, due to her injured arm.

"This building is special," She stated the obvious as they entered, her frown deepening as she looked around, "No windows and only a single door? It's like a way for them to trap us inside."

Yay.

She turned to look at Davey, eyeing him before stroking her chin, "I suppose that is a good strategy - taking them out as they enter? That's considering none of us miss... They don't take damage the way I like them to either." She was, of course, recalling scenarios straight out of a zombie movie - never ending attacks, wearing the protagonists down slowly before devouring them...

"Good to see that you're both fine," She raised an eye brow at Bix and Gale, before turning to Before, "I'm not sure, but... I think we're missing one or two?" She hadn't had the chance to count in all the chaos, and those she knew had been her priority - not that she actually remembered how many of them there were... However, she did roughly remember the different 'cliques' within their little group, as well as the few stragglers.

There were stragglers missing.

Gale felt marginally guilty when Bix apologized, feeling slightly ashamed that he had not really thanked the older boy for helping him out. "I, er...sorry," he said hastily, waving his hands. "I mean...uh, yeah, thanks for helping me, man."

He felt awkward, so instead turned his attention to Before; the nickname "After" was a reminder of his former Beta self, and though only Before called him that, he actually sorta liked the nickname. So he didn't say anything to correct the other.

"I'm okay," Gale answered him, lying through his teeth. The truth was that his leg felt as if it were on fire, though the bandages Jordan had wrapped around it made it feel much better and he could almost walk normally on it.

Almost. For maybe about two or three steps before he collapsed again. Pa-the-tic. Grumbling a bit internally, Gale's eyes flitted to the side, tilting his head. Ariane was talking to the one-armed guy that he had seen at the orientation meeting. What was his name again..? Daniel..? No, Davey. Right? I think? And that pink haired girl who liked to say "like" a lot was standing beside the purple haired girl whose name Gale had caught to be Ennea. He wanted to go over and see how she was doing, but he didn't have the strength, nor the energy to actually walk over there at the current moment.

So instead he settled for sitting on the floor, peering apprehensively up at Davey, who was standing beside the door peering out at the creatures.

As soon as Scott had crossed the threshold, he collapsed against the nearest wall. Despite being one of the only members of the group to have escaped the horde unscathed, he still felt as terrible as Ennéa looked. His lungs burned, every breath coming out as a ragged gasp for air. A sheen of sweat soaked through clothes splattered with blood. His head pounded relentlessly, as if trying to purge the memory of everything that had just happened. As the others filtered in, he did his best to stay out of their way. He wanted to stay out of everyone’s way, whether they were one of his supposed “teammates” or a monster looking to devour him in acid drenched morsels. He considered both to be equally dangerous.

Scott looked up as he felt a tug, feet stumbling forward as Hanna pulled him to where she and Scarlett stood. He was about to ask her what the hell she had been thinking when he was cut off by her question.

“Left him?” Eyes narrowed, words tinged with indignation. What had been in her tone? Accusations? Understanding? Disappointment? It was hard to tell with the distant shrieks piercing the thin walls. He straightened, knowing perfectly well he didn’t need to be made to feel guilty by a teenage girl. But, he was still somehow upset at the prospect that her opinion of him had been lessened. “I didn’t leave him. He wasn’t my responsibility in the first place. There was no reason he shouldn’t have been able to get here on his own.” Yes, there had been something about him not being able to see, but Scott didn’t have the time to worry about every little detail with all those serrated teeth at his heels.

Scott turned at the sound of footsteps. Despite his callous attitude, he was relieved to see Before following in the wake of Jeremy and Ariane, if only because it meant he didn’t have to feel guilty for leaving him behind. Which he wouldn’t have, because he didn’t. When he turned back, Hanna was requesting a gun, and he unquestioningly reached into his bag to hold his out to her before she could cross to Jordan.

She was a better shot than him, and his bat currently offered him the only way of working out the tangled bundle of aggression that had built up against the inside of his forehead. But the pointed way in which he looked at her suggested the gesture was more resentful than helpful.

Jordan nodded to Davey. "Exactly," he agreed. "And those of us who are still in good shape can take them on while the others rest." It wasn't a very appealing prospect, but it was better than being surrounded in the open.

He answered Bix, "She's really out of it. She won't be able to fight until she's healed up some and feeling better." His hand curled protectively around Ennea's shoulder, and he felt another pang of guilt; he should have been able to keep her safe, dammit. Or at least keep her from from getting so badly hurt. He tried to keep that thought off his face, though; he had to stay strong, keep some kind of note of confidence.

He raised one eyebrow at Scott's harsh tone and words, but didn't dispute the statement; it was technically correct, though Jordan didn't like the underlying attitude. Now was absolutely not the time to argue about it, though.

Davey did not approve of Scott's attitude. At. All. His mouth opened, and Davey realised that he was about to start in on the guy about 'leave no man behind'. He choked back the words with a frustrated growl. These other kids weren't soldiers. No matter how much Davey kept expecting them to act like a unit, they weren't one - not yet, anyway. Yelling at Scott for not adhering to the rules of a military he wasn't even a part of would be unproductive. Detrimental, even, when they still at the enemy at the door. Literally.

He consoled himself with a glare in Scott's direction before turning his attention back to Jordan.

A sharp nod was given as Jordan spoke about the able-bodied protecting those who were already injured. Here was someone who had similar ideas to Davey, the spirit of an army teammate, if not the exact guidelines.

"We can take point," he suggested to Jordan. Madison was also in full health, but she seemed a little shaky right now. Davey was fine with himself and Jordan protecting both the girls, with Madison as a backup between them and the wounded.

For the most part once he made it into the building Jude pretty much sat down off to the side though he listened to what various people were saying but right now he was hurting just a bit simply because he was too focused getting somewhere safe more than he was focused on counting on someone to heal him. It was just how it was and he would deal with the consequences when it got there.

He settled to sit on the floor and looked over the acid burns that were on his person. Jude had gotten hit pretty good with it mostly because he'd stubbornly stayed within the radius of the thing to free just one person - he didn't honestly have it in him to stay outside and hunt for his gun in his pack after he saw that there was shelter.

It was better to run and live to fight another day. It wasn't a coward's wisdom it was simply wisdom. You can't fight anymore if you're passed out or dead. You weren't useful anymore if you were prone. Jude listened as plans were made and people interacted. He would help if asked and if he was able.

BANG. The first collision came not a second too soon for the trainees that managed to scramble in. The door - the closed door shook, the walls trembled, and the ceiling rafters quavered, ready to give in any second. Dust and debris rained down on the hidden students.

BANG. A repeated second attack, then third, and just as the tiny not-so-secure shelter seemed on the verge of collapsing, silence.

As the trainees held their breaths for a second, expecting more, they would hear nothing, not a single shriek, groan, scratching sound. Not anything, but their own stifled breaths.

All was silent. As to what lay on the other side of the door - who knew?

((INTERMISSION PHASE:

- Any trainee at this point can choose whether to open or the door or not. If anyone opens the door, this phase will immediately begin to the next part. If not, there will be 2 IC hours/ 6 OOC hours for anyone to take a heal/etc action post within the room. Feel free to consult things out/ready things before opening the door if necessary.
- If you have ALREADY used bandages, you only have one use left, if you have not you have two uses left. ))

All hell was breaking loose out there. Where was Cael? Wasn't he supposed to be teaching them this s**t?! It was actually very good that this place didn't have windows; those things couldn't get in and they didn't have to see them trying. She threw her arms over her head and ducked, not wanting to get the dust or things falling from the ceiling all over her face. Unless Cael suddenly appeared again and used his scythe on these things they were so totally dead. Again. They were going to die for real this time. But...but she couldn't die! That wasn't how this was supposed to go! This was her second chance!

Silence.

Candace slowly looked up and toward the door, brushing dust and bits of ceiling off her head and shoulders and arms. "Is it over..?" She asked quietly, voice hushed as if she was worried speaking too loudly would get the attention of the things outside and it'd start up all over again and this time they really would die. She frowned. "That was freaky as s**t." Candace's voice was still lowered to a whisper as she breathed out a soft chuckle, running her fingers through her hair before she looked around at the others that were inside as well. Some of them were hurt. Really hurt. Didn't she have bandages still? She was pretty sure she did.

It was kind of like being back in their squad tents again after that whole giant death pony attack. Candace tried not to frown again, shaking off the memory of the other Epsilon members as she pushed herself up to stand. "We should bandage up before we head out there. Maybe I've seen one too many horror movies, but they could very well just have quieted down to lie in wait for us to stupidly come out so they can ambush and kill us."

What? It could totally happen!

Madison's reaction to the walls shaking was to cover her head with her arms and duck hard; the only thing stopping her from shrieking her terror outright was the presence of others. She did not want to be seen as weak, no, no, no-

But it reminded her so much of the room with the crushing walls. Too much. If the walls bent inwards much more, the entire building would fold in on them and they'd be crushed. Again. And then they'd probably be eaten by monsters on top of everything else.

"Bandages," she said, echoing what Candace had said - though the girl's voice in this context made her feel a bit ill. Was the former Epsilon going to grab a weapon and go insane on them again? Ugh!

She felt around for the bandages that had been offered earlier, then quickly knelt over Ennea. Her first-aid skills weren't amazing, but she'd been in Girl Scouts and still remembered bits and pieces here and there. There was only so much that bandages could do against wounds like this, though....

Candace's gaze flickered toward Madison for just a moment as she basically agreed with her idea, raising a brow at the slight look on her face. What was that? She looked like she was going to be sick. Huh... "Y'alright there, blondie?" She did seem genuinely concerned if only because one of them getting sick in here meant they were stuck wallowing in the disgusting stench until they finally left. Candace had a strong stomach but she was pretty sure she wouldn't be able to stay in a small shelter that reeked of vomit.

Ennea looked in pretty bad shape. Ariane did too. But Candace didn't have enough bandages to just heal up everyone. She crossed her arms over her chest and sighed, looking from one girl to the other. Decisions are hard!

"Who all has bandages left?" She asked the room, looking to each and every person for an answer.

Cassandra had flinched into Marcus's side when the first collision hit the door. She winced at the sound when it came again.

Shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshit! Cass swore mentally and her bandaged leg still throbbed painfully. But unlike Candace, who had the mental facilities to go 'DO NOT OPEN DOOR UNTIL EVERYBODY IS PATCHED UP', the thought 'Open the door and check how things are looking outside' passed through Cassandra's head.

It passed through it good.

Cassandra had that look in her eyes.

...
.....

But wasn't standing close enough to the door to open it, so it was still closed. At least until she could hobble up to her feet again.

"Man. This whole thing could have gone over better..." Cass muttered, squeezing Marcus's arm anxiously, a frown on her face as she took a few deep breaths.

DEEP.

BREATHS.

SHE WAS ALIVE.

There was a pause as she felt her head, as though curious if it was still there or not. Cassandra looked to Candace, raising her hand.

"I haven't bandaged anybody up yet." she offered up.

Petra had caught the bandages that Hanna had thrown her, looking between them and the wave of creatures as if indecisive. For one, it was clear what was going through her head, her eyes telling all as she weighed the options, a little scowl crossing her features. Her decision, too, was pretty obvious -- the hand that still held the base of the bat clenched a little tightly, wringing it as if so tempted to just say '******** it' and run out into the fray again, itching to just beat the s**t out of the monsters. She hated being the weak one. Hated it. The only salvation of the situation was that she was not the weakest, the smaller kid having been snatched up by the mouth that had opened up to swallow him whole and not herself. She almost felt bad for the kid, who had effectively proved himself to at least some of them that he was more a liability than a help -- he'd have to work doubly hard to prove otherwise. At least she was still able to fight, despite the wound on her arm that continued to ooze a little angrily, blood starting to trickle thicky along the skin. On the other hand, if it impeded her, she wasn't worth anything at all. The best choice would be to wrap herself quickly, then get back out there.

But that wasn't the choice she was going to make.

The bandages were still clenched in her fist as she looked towards the monsters growing ever closer, lifting the bat and already starting to dash towards them. Some of their team was retreating -- that was fine, she would give them a safe escape. Perhaps it was foolish... she was feeling a bit foolish, a bit blind with everything that had happened, everything she had to process just overwhelming in a way that was hard to deal with. She wasn't Zeta Eight, she couldn't compartmentalize all the time, but even as she said this she felt that instinct start to kick in. She'd made her choice, but at least she'd be smart about it. There was a strategy forming in her head, and she raised her bat to swing it hard at one of the creatures coming towards her, using her good arm.

Suddenly, there were strong arms around her waist, and she was lifted completely off the ground, the bat only hitting air as she was pulled back. At first she was stunned, completely taken off guard as she was hoisted up, looking around a bit as she got her bearings and noticing it was Robert carrying her, her eyes furrowing a little in bewilderment as to why he was carrying her away, although the first emotion to hit her was a secret little pleasure in the fact that he was saving her. That maybe things weren't so broken for them yet. But confusion quickly lead to annoyance at the realization that she was being carried away from the battle, and the pleasure turned into the sinking feeling of uselessness, and Petra struggled a little in his arms, knowing it was useless but doing so anyway. She couldn't even retreat by herself, and as always, although it wasn't his fault, she took it out on him when it was the opposite of what he really deserved. "Bobbie stop, stop let me hit them! ******** you, I can hold them back!"

She was still struggling as the doors closed behind them, and the first wave slammed against the door with a heavy, meaty thud, an unnatural squelching sound compounding to make it extra morbid. It was at that point she went completely silent, just listening to the onslaught of attacks that just kept coming, once, twice, and finally a third time before going quiet. Everything was still, eerily so, and it seemed as though everyone was holding their breaths, the only sound in the room the sound of their own hearts thudding in their ears. Petra pressed a little closer to Robert, slowly looking around the room, her eyes settling on Candace as she spoke up. That was the smartest thing to do -- she'd definitely take the time to do so.

"... is everyone here?" she finally murmured, not daring to raise her voice too loud, in case it coaxed the creatures to attack, "... we should count off."

"I'm fine," Madison said, quickly, lifting her chin in response to Candace's question. She was going to be fine, damnit. No matter what happened. But Petra's question made a little worried shiver go through her.

They were all here, weren't they? Madison looked quickly around - there was Robert, Jordan and Ennea were next to her, and obviously Petra was here. But she couldn't remember how many others there were. The only ones that had had any chance at being remembered at this point were her fellow Phoenixes.

Still. Phoenix or not, she didn't want anyone to be left outside.

"I haven't used any of my bandages yet," Davey admitted when the call for them came around.

Despite Madison's bandaging, the pink-haired girl - Ennea - was still hurt. Since she was right there, Davey decided to start with her. He crossed the few steps to her side and dropped his bag to the floor. Crouching down, he reached in and located one roll of bandages.

Davey had some training in field first aid. Of course, it was harder to try and wrap wounds with only one hand. He did his best.

"Madison, can you hold this in place?" he asked, then began wrapping as tight as he could without cutting off circulation. A few minutes later, he had to ask Madison again, "If you could tie it off for me..."

Of all the goddamn stupid- ! Davey hissed and ducked his head. Resentment and irritation simmered in his eyes and he didn't feel like sharing it with everyone. No one was going to call him a burden. He could shoulder his feelings of rage and uselessness alone.

He stood and looked around. "Anyone else injured?" There was a likely looking girl with a green-tipped ponytail. Davey began moving towards her.

The silence was eerie. Too eerie. Gale stood beside Bix, Before, and Ariane, holding a breath without realizing it. He swallowed - hard - before turning his eyes towards Bix, narrowing his gaze slightly.

"What's going on now, d'you think?" he murmured, reaching a hand up to rub at the bank of his neck. Still half standing, Gale was mostly struggling to stay upright; not that he would admit that in a million years. Saying that his leg felt rather like it was on fire - an unpleasant sensation no matter how one looked at it - would just be admitting that he was weaker than the rest and calling more attention to the fact that he was the youngest.

So instead he kept his mouth firmly shut. At least until Candace spoke up.

"I do," Gale answered her, his voice sounding oddly loud in the dusty quiet. "I still have bandages. Who needs help? I can help."

He would not be useless.
