Oh well, good ... at least it appeared that Three was paying attention to his song, even if no one else was. Rather pleased at that, Fiver offered the other two a quick smile - even masked, it meant something, right? It was also nice that Three had apparently figured out for himself this time that he'd hurt Fiver II's feelings.

Heh, maybe there was hope for him yet. With a thumbs-up sort of gesture, he backed up a little and kept singing.

"The world is closing in...
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers?
The future's in the air,
I can feel it everywhere,
Blowing with the wind of change.

Taaaake me to the magic of the moment,
On a glory night~
Where the children of tomorrow dream away....
in the wind of change..."

Gamma Seven was doing it again. That thing where he found himself staring at the door. He heard the songs, he saw some of the dances, the few new things that were destroyed...well, at least everyone was having fun. But no matter how you looked at it, no matter how you boiled it down or broke it apart, they were just...wasting their time. Their lives had ended a long time ago, and they were all just too scared to go through that door.

Then again, he didn't know what waited for him beyond that door, either.

The life he couldn't remember, the papers he couldn't remember signing; the life story of 'Gamma Seven' was one that was started the moment another one ended. Was that life worth being curious over? Would he be willing to close the chapter of 'Gamma Seven' for a brief encore of the Unknown that happened before? It was bothering him; he wanted that encore, but a part of him was still hoping there would be a chance to return to life as he was now. He at least knew this life, and no matter how shitty and short it was, it was at least worth it. It had a goal, clear objectives, the tools to help him succeed.

Did the person before him have all these advantages?

"Hey, man." He said suddenly, moving a bit to clap Gamma Two on the shoulder. "I don't know how much longer I can stand behind here." The curiousity of what waited behind the door was gnawing away, constantly chewing on his resolve to wait it out for as long as he could.

Fiver II realizes he's upset Three again. He's not as good with the man as he would have hoped. He winced at the small scolding. Damn, he was just good at getting on Three's nerves.

Then the out stretched hand. His eyes went to Fiver and he gave him a reassuring nod at the choice of song then his eyes went right back to Three's hand. Was he... serious? Looking up at the other cautiously he reached out and accepted his hand. One step, then another he moved closer to Three and tried to put his hand where he thought it belonged in fumble.

"I didn't mean to upset you, sir. I just... wanted us to have fun. We might not see each other and again. I want.... to remember this."

With his failed attempt at juggling, yII was going to return to the couch. However, he watched the group known as 'Team Phoenix' for a moment. The lot seemed incredibly close and in a way, it was kind of touching to see that. A group of complete strangers with no names or pasts managing to get that close to one another. It seemed to be a rather somber moment as it appeared they were getting ready to move on.

Speaking of that...

Turning his attention towards Gamma Seven as he was addressed, he frowned at the words he heard. Briefly, his eyes flitted towards the door and he felt himself tense with apprehension.

"You're thinking of going soon..?" he said quietly. It wasn't something he wanted to think about. But who was he to stop yVII if he felt it was his time? He looked on towards the door again, feeling uneasy. Would he see any of these people again when they all decided to leave? He couldn't say for sure..

"Yeah." Gamma Seven confirmed softly, though he was trying to keep that clear, upbeat tone to his voice as though nothing was wrong. "Curiousity's starting to kill the cat, Bossman." He informed his fellow Gamma, turning his attention towards the door once more. It wasn't just curiousity, it was starting to be a need.

"I dunno though. I keep hopin' something's going to come back and let me try again down there." Well, he could only assume all the action was below them somewhere; he always imagined purgatory being somewhat above everything else, just not as high as heaven. "Wish I could blame all the saps saying goodbye, but..." A low, muffled chuckle emitted through the gask mask. "This isn't a recent thought. I...kind of want to know, yanno?"

Closing his eyes for a moment, he drew in a long, thoughtful breath. For all he knew, he didn't have ties to these two men whatsoever...might never see them again after they all stepped through that door. If Z-Five chose to get intensely sentimental, then Three would not begrudge him the moment, and whilst Fiver didn't have the best singing voice in the world, for these moments, it would do. After seeing the group that had called themselves the 'Phoenix' had begun their departure, A-Three had to admit...that this entire affair had formed the strangest of ties, awkward alliances, and even friendships. Though he knew that the younger, Fiver II, had attached himself to Three as some sort of physical and emotional mainstay, something to hold on to. And whilst Fiver II was almost overpoweringly sappy at times, Three had to admit that his perseverance was...admirable.

Curling fingers about that fumbling hand, he placed it where it should go, and he himself touched his fingertips to Fiver II's side, his touch firm, guiding. "All right....just try to follow." He murmured, "Do you know how to dance?"

A-Twelve had hated the fact that she interrupted Zeta Eight and Alpha Seven's moment. That was one thing she regretted most .. but it wasn't as heavy a regret, weighing her down as it could have. Because she needed to say it. To be honest, A-Twelve hadn't expected a reaction from Zeta Eight. When Zeta Eight just lapsed into silence as Alpha Twelve told her farewells silently to everyone else, Alpha twelve had felt a disappointing tug.

Typical, she had told herself. She wasn't special.. She didn't have the qualities that A-Seven or A-Ten had. Naturally, A-Twelve hollowly echoed.

Alpha Ten would have gave her hugs, so Alpha Twelve thought. Alpha Twelve had been about to take a step away when she found herself whirling into Zeta Eight's chest. It wasn't the same kind of hug that enveloped Zeta Eight and Alpha Seven. But a completely different one, one that didn't diminish it's value any less, in it's own right. She really had been trying to stop it, really. But when Zeta Eight's words echoed near Alpha Twelve's ear, she found that breathing, all of a sudden, was really hard. Her throat hurt, trying to force down the lump she had never wanted to come up.

"I'm proud of you."

That's when Alpha Twelve couldn't suck it up anymore. Her hands reached out to grab Zeta Eight's hands in her own, gripping the gloved hands with a deathly tight grip. The muffled sobs and tears came out, wiping her tears on a ragged sleeve.

"Z-Zeta Eight.. I love you like an older sister. E-Even if they say we wont remember .. I'll remember you. I promise I will."

The song sung was a lovely backdrop for A-Twelve's exit. Right then, A-12 tore herself from everything she recognized.. and some she had even grown to love. Others she grew fond for. Tears surrounded the rim of her eyes, even going through her goggles and under to leave tear-streaken cheeks. She ran towards the door, one hand raising in a wide and excited wave. She stopped before the doorway and turned .. facing everyone and anyone. Even those she didn't know-- her farewells echoed throughout the room.

"Bye-biiiiii~"

And A12 seemed to stumble into the light, tripping into the doorway.

The confirmation stung a little, and it was a strange feeling considering like with the Phoenixes, he really hadn't known yVII all that long. As the other gamma spoke, he continued to stare at the door. The more he did, the more he felt its intangible tug. Tearing his gaze away for the meantime, he looked back at Seven and nodded slowly.

"I know the feeling.." he said quietly, "I want to know too. I just... I don't know. I'm kinda scared. Our lives before.. what if there was nothing for us there in the first place? Will any of us even get to see each other again..? Or will we be stuck somewhere... alone with nothing but our memories..?"

It was obvious he was concerned about how this was all going to go down. Shaking his head to himself, he let out a sigh.

"By the way... I'm sorry. I.. wasn't a very good leader, dying on you guys like that," he said before smiling weakly, not that it could be seen, "Just.. do what you need to do."

Fiver smiled at the two of them, starting to sway back and forth a bit to the beat of the song, eyes lidding a bit behind his mask. He ... kind of wanted to dance too, but he had the sneaking suspicion that he had NO idea how to do what the two of them were doing.

Probably he would be better at something that involved more ... hips, and faster music, with way more bass. Perhaps some gratuitous grinding of body parts.

But no matter... for now, he could sing for the other two...

"Walking down the street,
Distant memories...
Are buried in the past forever."

That line ... was especially true for these moments, and he actually had to fight back a LITTLE bit of a sniffle...

"I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park.
Listening to the wind of change....

Taaaake me to the magic of the moment~
On a glory night.
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me...
Taaaake me to the magic of the moment~
On a glory night.
Where the children of tomorrow dream away...
in the wind of change .... "

The boy shivered slightly when Three's hand found the spot on his waist and he curled his fingers against the armor. All he wanted to do was see Three's face. He had to. He wanted to know what was under that mask. If only he could remove it.

"I uh, I don't remember." He joked with a small smile as he kept looking down at his feet. He liked Fiver's song and it made him smile. He was flushing, embarrassed that he was the one inviting Three to dance and he didn't know how!

"Lik-like this?" He asked trying not to step on the other man's feet.

Three winced as Fiver II failed his mission, and shook his head. "Relax..." He murmured, "This isn't a performance." After all, no one was paying attention to them, they all had their own personal issues to deal with, deciding how and when they should go through the doorway...the private bonds that they'd formed with their comrades. All of it seemed very...intimate, and it was easier for Three to dwell on himself and the Fivers about him than to contemplate the humanity about him. It all...disconcerted him. "If you're tense, then you will decimate my toes." It wasn't a reprimand, merely a prompting guide.

It was far easier to think of himself as a tutor. "It's a four-beat tempo, until we arrive at the spin." He informed, leading the other along. Three was rather good at this, he mused, and he had to wonder if he'd had something of an education in classical dance. A ballroom was full of far too many people, so he wondered how he had come by it. "Just follow...relax into the rhythm..." Though he had no intentions of twirling his partner about just yet, he was still uncomfortable.

She sat, twitching slightly at the Gammas' exchange as she attempted not to say something offending; if anything, if they left, she would be trapped here with nobody to tease/poke fun at except the dramatic couch trio, and the guys performing a musical... And she really did not want to. Perhaps it was because she was already dead and the realization was helping her tap into her more human side, but the need to distance herself from everyone was starting to fade.

Ugh, someone from her team die and come join her already. Seriously.

"Look - that door? Once you go in, you never come back. You get your answers, your memories - but you will not be able to do anything for your future because hey! You. Are. Dead." She stressed the last word, rolling her eyes behind her gas mask as she sighed, looking from one Gamma to the other, "So duh, we're probably not going to see each other again. In fact, the only reason I'm waiting, is to see if any of those who stuck with me at the beginning are gonna make it."

She started to frown behind her mask, "And go! If you need to go, grow some balls and go already instead of hesitating. Say your goodbyes, say a prayer- s**t, sing a song if you want to since its becoming a trend, but go and seek out those answers."

Her frown was deepening as she sighed again, crossing her arms as she looked at Gamma Two instead, "And you. Stop acting like the victim here. You died. If you had lived, it doesn't mean you could have changed anything anyway."

Fiver II flushed deeper. He knew it wasn't a performance. It was Three that was making him nervous. He'd forgotten about everyone else in the room. "I'm trying..." He said in a soft grumble trying to force himself to look up and away from his feet.

"Four beat, right...wait spin?" Just the word seemed to make him nervous. But Three had a knack about him. He felt a moment of bravery and shut his eyes. He could do this. He could dance with the man of his ...current dreams. He didn't know about his passed ones but this was certainly his current one.

It took only a few tries for the dance to become less of a fumble and more of a glide. Fiver II was picking up on it quickly and started to smile again. He felt like he had it. Looking up at Three he flushed.

"... do you remember what color your eyes are?"

She's waiting for you.

A7's entire body felt like it hurt. He didn't want to think about it. He didn't have the resolve to really sit down and think about what was going on. Who they were. What they meant to each other. He could only focus on the now. What was in his arms - that was all the mental strength he had left.

It hurt to think that somewhere, past that portal, she was waiting. And he was still here, singing his songs. Holding on to what felt good. What felt right.

Z8 pulled away, and his arms went slack. He rubbed one of them, sucking in deep breaths to keep his aching heart at bay. He looked up at A2, and though she couldn't see it, he smiled.

"Don't you let us worry you, just 'cause we're standing here. You won't see me walking through that door without a goodbye."

He fell quiet when A12 said her goodbyes, leaning in to steal a hug for just a moment before she could run away, but he made it short, because it was clear that the two women needed their time together.

And then, in a run and stumble, she was gone.

Just another piece of their happy family disappearing from their world.

This was making him feel a little sick.

Goodness, but it seemed that the other was easily flustered. Young, certainly...by his very nature, that was Fiver II. A-Three had to wonder just what sort of a person the other was...what sort of person...they all were, on the other sides of these masks. Whilst much could be discerned from their personalities, there were so many things that they didn't know, things that they would never discover, unless they stepped past the threshold of that door. Into seeming emptiness, they'd been promised their memories. It might just be another lie...the reaper playing yet another game...but gods help him, A-Three wanted to know. Not just about himself, but about the men who had fought alongside him.

He had earned their loyalty, and in a strange way, they had earned his. A miracle, that, but then he was fairly sure that he'd never been in such a blatant life and death scenario before...most 'normal' people weren't, if memory served...and naturally, it didn't.

Leading Fiver II about, the faintest quirk of lips occurred beneath the taller man's mask...he was beginning to learn how to follow, in this little waltz of theirs. And when Z-Five posed a question, A-Three merely shook his head. "No." There were a couple of beats, a few more footsteps, and then, he found a question that he had to ask. "Is this how you usually go about things...?" He inquired, the faintest note of amusement bleeding through into the words.

It was easy to forget they were all dead, like this.
