When she noticed a question directed at her Candace hummed and looked over Gale's shoulder again. She made a slight face at the illegible writing but read it anyway, just comparing the list to how many faces she saw. "Weeeee are waaaaiting on one, three..five... We're waiting on five trainees to wake up. And then we'll be leading you to another room where you'll get to meet one of our delightful leaders, who will teach you all that you need to know right now."She grinned at the exasperated smile she was given but left Gale be for now, feeling very pleased with herself right now. So many women! The men were going to be...ugh, how were they going to react? The single ones, that is. H would probably be thrilled to have more delectably ripe young bodies to ogle, Dakota would j**z in his pants... ...Good reception. Yeah. Totally.

"I'm not too late for the wake-ups am I??" Jerry came barreling through the doorway, moments after he had caught wind of the influx of trainees.
And unfortunately, he did have his guitar in hand.
"Good mornin', Good mornin'! You've slept the whole month through! Good mornin' Good mornin' to you!
When the pod began to hum your runes were glowin' bright. Now the Sargent's on his way, It's too late to say goodnight!
So, good mornin', good mornin'! Soon you're armed to fight too, Good mornin', good mornin', to you!"
And he looked like he was ready to keep going if someone didn't stop him.

Well not that cousin on her mother's side. "No I'm afraid I don't.." Mercedes replied to the girl that addressed her after their yawns. "But wouldn't that just be something." Mercedes looked to her left and right and was about to exit the pod when another boy came crashing out of his pod and onto the floor. Gosh wouldn't want to make that mistake herself. After shaking Gale's hand she carefully made her way out of the pod. The woman was wearing a pair of floral patterned tights under an a-symmetrical skirt and top looking like some piece of work out of an office of hipsters. Turning to Candace once more she did a couple of standing stretches while still leaning to the side of the pod. "And what about you?" she asked, implying her name. After all they would be in the same department together though Mercedes was unaware of this entirely. "I think I liked it better when Grace Kelly and Debbie Reynolds." And she left that at that. Poor Jerry. And Donald O'Connor.

"Candace Pennington, intermediate mist trainee~." What was a mist trainee? So mysterious.
She may have intentionally not explained it just yet.
...Oh, Jerry. Candace couldn't stay mad at you. She chuckled and looked back at the man when she heard his voice, her eyes widening when she noticed the guitar in his hands. Sometimes she wondered if maybe the heavy keyboard really would have been the better option. She cares about you, Jerry, but damn son.
"...Sunbeams will soon smile through, Good mornin', good mornin', to you," She didn't really sing it. She spoke it.
Candace didn't sing, but she didn't want Jerry to think he was annoying her. She loved his singing, no matter how silly it was sometimes. She chuckled at Mercedes' comment on his rendition of the song. "That's Jerry, Mercedes. You get used to his habit of randomly breaking into song." Candace was finding it cuter and cuter, actually.

"Er, Michael Parker....?" he sounded like he was deeply questioning whether or not that was his name. Or more likley why someone who he was quite sure was way younger was asking for it and looking all... authoritative.
Before he could get out any questions though someone else burst in with a guitar and started singing. He started at them in the blankly, transferring the stare to Candace when she joined in too.
"....Good morning?"

Another almost illegible scribble was scrawled onto Gale's paper - something that might have been "Mercedes Chenoweth."
Or it might have been "Methodox Chackringa."
"A pleasure to meet the both of you," said Gale, nodding to both Mercedes and Michael. "My name is Gale Gentry, in case you missed that, and I'm from the Death Division. If you have any questions, either myself, or Candace, Deryk, or..."
A slight pause, and a headtilt at Jerry. Gale sighed.
"Or the one playing the guitar - will do our best to answer them for you."
He gave them nods and then shifted slightly, stepping towards the newest awaken-ee. This one was stumbling along as though he had quite forgotten how to walk, and Gale slanted a curious sort of look at him before tapping his shoulder.
"Good, er...morning," he said. "Welcome to Deus Ex. Are you feeling all right?"

"Ah fig'red ya wouldn' considerin' yer kinda tiny compared ta me. Ah dun mind bein' barefoot though, but Ah could use a jacket or sommin' if ya dun mind at all." Ofelia's skin has goose pimples slowly rising up on it, her bare shoulders protesting at being outside of the pod. It looked as the though the adrenaline from being on a new adventure was slowly wearing off and her body's natural needs were kicking in - namely a headache followed by the desire to drink. [clor=saddlebrown]"Um, Ah got's a question too if ya dun mind me askin if any o'ya will answer'. Ya said this place is called Deus sommin' or'nother an' we're hunters or sommin'?" That first bit wan't really a question, was mostly a review of what she'd heard. "....how long could Ah have been in that pod?"
That was actually the more important question. The way everyone was acting and carrying on it could have only been a few days, or a few hours even. With Ofelia's luck it could have been a few weeks, maybe a month tops - or, worst case, several years. Was this sort of like emerging in the future from pods? Where these people going to tell her she'd been tasked with saving the world?" That....that would be entirely too awesome. "Oh, yer gonna need mah name to look that up right? Ah'm Ofelia Tanner, occupation...student, Ah guess? Ah probably got kicked out once they noticed the fire an' all."
Being a convicted arsonist sounded kind of cool in retrospect actually, and Ofelia ran a hand across the back of her neck as she pondered it.

Deus Ex.?????? There was a bit of a blank stare before Dillon broke into a sheepish grin. "Hi, yes, yes I'm quite alright I think- have I been asleep for long?" he asked, tilting his glance towards the opened pod. "Right, sorry, Dillon, Dillon Avery," he greeted, his right hand stretched out for a handshake and the left hand rubbing the back of his head. It was strange, he felt as though he was compelled to introduce himself as something else. Funny, people don't really feel as though they had forgotten their names. "Er, care to enlighten me on what is going on here?"

That singing could really only have been one person. Turning around, Deryk saw that Jerry had indeed entered the room. He didn't join in on the singing, but he did grin at the Sun Hunter. Was he amused he had brought in a guitar? Yes.
This was SO much better than normal pod duty.
He also noticed that there were quite a few girls waking up. Not bad.
"Uh... not really sure. At least a few months. Could be longer. Was in the pod for over a year myself," he answered Ophelia, before turning to Dillon. Maybe they should have waited til everyone was awake before answering questions. Oh well.
"You're waking up at Deux Ex Headquarters. More details coming at orientation. Right now, waiting for others to wake up. Shouldn't be too long. Hopefully. Just uh.. hold tight. Clear your head. Something."

Feng woke with a start, his eyes shooting open, and then he let out a startled yelp and closed his eyes again. Oh god the light was bright. It hurt. Carefully this time, he blinked his eyes opened and stared around the room. Or rather, around his pod. There were lots of pods here, actually. Was he an experiment? Oh god what would he do?
He stepped out and was almost relieved to see more people around. But would it be okay to ask them questions? What if they didn't want that? He hung around awkwardly, waiting for some idea of what to do.

Candace was starting to wonder why they left the writing to Gale. Oh well, too late now.
At ofelia's question Candace frowned, looking very unsure now. Could they tell them? The dates were on the monitors for their pods so...she could easily go into the next room and find out, but would that be wise? These people could have been in these pods for days, weeks, months...even years! It sounded like it could potentially traumatize a person to hear they were in a sort of coma for years and have no memory of it. Candace cleared her throat. "We don't know, Ofelia. I'm sorry." a look was given to Dillon as he asked the same thing.
"Just a couple more people. Almost finished. Ah...this is going to take getting used to, but things will start to make a little more sense soon. As for coats," Candace proudly tugged at her own coat, then gestured to the other trainees around her. "Soon! You'll have coats more like Deryk's, but you'll all be given a coat and a scarf! And a division." She was rather glad they had multiple divisions on duty right now. More examples! "It seems some of them already know the term 'hunter' right off the bat...did you, Deryk? You were one of the hatchlings..." Did the second and third waves get more information than they did? Not fair!

She glanced around, taking in the others here. One hand rose to rub at her temple while she watched the three that seemed to know what was going on. Or knew more than some of the others. Who were some mixture of dazed, confused, or maybe starting to understand a small bit of what was going on?
Fini fit the confused category quite nicely.
Then someone just stumbled out of their pod - wait, a pod?! - and collapsed on the floor. Or, as she filled in, fell out of said pod in a heap on the floor. She just stared, feeling rather thankful she had not done something similar. And then a small snort of laughter escaped. Fini opened her mouth to say something, but paused as it appeared someone was addressing her. Maybe. Was he? White coat. She remembered someone in a white coat. Hunter. The Hunter had been in a white coat!
"Deus Ex?" She frowned, trying to dredge up any familiarity with the name. And failed. Oh and speaking of names, that one guy was asking for theirs. "Fin- err, Infinity. Infinity Wynaero." It took her a second, but she managed to answer. "And you-" Her question was cut off by a, rather enthusiastic 'greeting' that came in the form of another in a white coat. Fini glanced at the guy that had fallen on the floor when he spoke. Then back at the dude with a guitar.
"Is it...really morning?" She couldn't help but ask. Everyone kept saying it - or singing it - so it was a fair enough question, right?

Ah so there were many more like her still needing to wake from their pods. Mercedes was beginning to feel very nervous in this room but she had to hold it in until this 'orientation' occurred. "Ah I really do wish it were soon," Mercedes added to the man speaking to the two who'd also awakened; one with a thick accent and the other who'd announced himself as Dillon. Looking back now towards Jerry, Gale, and Candace she could tell they were all fairly experienced... otherwise they wouldn't be here with such authoritative composure. "What happened before this? I mean how long has it uhm... how long have we been sleeping if I may ask??" |

"Ofelia Tanner," said Gale absently, scribbling something that looked like Obsolete Tafnig on the paper. "And don't worry, we don't need to know your prior occupation - your recollections of your life have remained intact, but you are no longer who you were then. Er, that is to say," he amended himself, jotting down a few more notes onto the paper.. "You're still yourselves, but your past lives will not be relevant here."
He turned to face the young man, Dillon, and nodded, writing down Dflfom Aurrg before taking his hand to shake in greeting. "Nice to meet you, Dillon. And everything will be explained momentarily; we need to wait for everyone else to awaken before we can give out much of the information."
Pushing his scarf more securely around his neck, Gale scrawled a few more illegible notes onto his paper -
<< Really, seriously, make someone else write next time. >>
Shut up.
- before moving onto the next trainee.
"Infinity Wynaero," said Gale, writing down Iffmog Wgnome. "And yes, it's around nine, I believe, so Jerry's...rather enthusiastic greeting is warranted, if not slightly...loud."
His gaze slid sideways, back to Mercedes.
"All we be explained soon, I promise," Gale assured them. "We're still waiting on, er..."
He glanced down at his list.
" - four more to awaken, I do believe."
Looking sideways, Gale stepped up to yet another new awaken-ee.
"They're like lost lambs," murmured Gale, mostly to himself, but really anyone around him would hear him, especially Deryk, who he passed on his way to the dark haired, Asian-looking trainee.
"Name?"

She couldn't figure it out. Syd let out a little breath of air, reaching up and touching her hair with a frown. "If we were in there for a few months, at least, what happened to the people that were... in our past life? Were they told we were killed? Or were we just reported as missing?" Her head hurt and trying to figure all of this out was making it worse, but Syd ignored that fact and turned to the one that had mentioned how long he was in a pod... Bond. That was his name, right?
