Twisted images, so many instances of people killing people, so many acts of brutality were circling through her mind. The history of everything evil about mankind was played over and over in her head, making her feel like she was going to vomit. Then it showed her what was happening now, how human souls were defiled and forced to animate their own corpses for the purpose of war. Darkness, Darkness, Darkness, with no light to balance the scales.

"Come now, you are no child, is humanity, even your humanity, worth so much that you would deny a merger that would make you a living god?"

She ground her teeth, ignoring the voices swirling through her mind.

"Oh come now, humans don't even equate with the animals, they have only one desire, themselves. They pollute any place in which they settle, destroy nature, they even destroy their own children. How is anything I might pursue worse than what humanity already has acheived."

Images of children suicide bombers, a discarded fetus being harvested for parts, young kids being indoctrinated to kill, even used as cannon fodder in human wars, the mass graves of ethnic cleansing, rape, abuse, the full affects of war induced famine. She was forced to see it all, everything Sallea had been shown, the same slog that had destroyed his will to resist almost instantly.

"And these children learn their ways from their parents. Humanity is dark, humanity is hatred, humanity needs to be restrained and ruled by a superior god. We are that god, join me."

Melissa clenched her teeth, pretending not to hear. Then she felt a breath of light come down from above. The spirit of Ymir shrunk back for a moment. It gave Melissa a chance to fight back.

No, you're not telling the whole story, there is good in this world too. There are more people who care and try hard to do the right thing. Sometimes they mess up, but they are decent people that would do everything in their power to prevent the things you've shown me. They hate war, they hate violence, they hate needless bloodshed with every fiber of their being. And I believe that there are more of them then the other kind. I don't care what you show me, I'm my own person, I live by my own code. I'm only responsible to the God who created me. You have no power here, demon.

"Demon! I'm more than just a mere demon! You'll regret those thoughts! If I die you're body goes with me, and I drag your sould to hell!"

The pain kicked in, so feircely her skin of her arms and legs was actually smoking, Ymir wouldn't kill her, but he wanted her to suffer.

The screaming resumed.

The priest drew the attention of one of the shadow dragons, while the others busied themselves with continued devastation. Taking to the air, the dragon rose up high and then stretched out its wings, swooping down toward the priest. It opened it's mouth as it neared the priest, but rather than shadows spewing from its maw, electricity came instead.

Quote:
Breath Weapon Substitution
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: S, B
Casting Time: One standard action
Range: Personal
Target: Your breath weapon
Duration: Instantaneous

Bolts of chained lightning, similar to that of a blue dragon's breath weapon, streaked from the shadow dragon's mouth.....

The electrical energy would be absorbed by the TELSA posts around the priests position and fired back at the dragon as the stand retreated back into the building, sheilded by the energy sheild which had re-activated once the healing was cast.

The amplified area of effect for dark absorbtion spread over almost a hundred kilometers via the device the preacher was connected to. The entire undead horde that remained, would be disintigrated. For the dragons, it would indeed heal their mortal wounds, but their connection to the plane of shadows would be broken, but not after massive amounts of power were drawn to the preacher from that connection. There would be enough power for healing from the plain of shadows to heal much of Yaits city.

Regardless, the dragons would not have a drop of dark power, any ability to use the plain of shadows, would be gone and were pretty much normal dragons, and quite formidable at that, but they wouldn't be able to hide so easily now. The air defenses reoponed, bombarding them with laser guided missiles. Every misille battery on the pentagon and throughout the western edge of the city opened fire, targeting three of the dragons, and giving each one a barrage of missiles, which would come in waves of ten, firing with-in seconds of each other. Hopefully, they would retreat.

The dragon let out a roar as it was struck, reeling back and tumbling out of the sky, trailing wisps of smoke. It would crash through several buildings. The other dragons - whom were all spread throughout the city, not in the air - saw the missiles approaching and slithered into the nearest shadows, using their Shadow Walk ability to retreat. Their power to blend in the dark was a natural ability, and not some "dark power" gained from the Plane of Shadow. The closest powers they had that could be remotely considered "dark" were a few spells of the necromancy sort. Meanwhile, the missiles would strike where their targets no longer stood, hitting the very city they were meant to be defending.

A distortion suddenly filled the skies high above Yaits City, the sky warping around a 1,200-foot radius as if it were suddenly being viewed through the glass of a fish tank. The image of a giant floating landmass would flicker in the skies and then vanish, and all would be normal again. Since it was night time however, nobody on the ground would notice this. The only disturbance anyone might notice would be electrical systems suddenly flickering, and every radar around the city become suddenly jammed for a few moments.

Alpha and Bravo however, felt the effects of the Preacher's technique. The hit that their new friend had taken was gone. Evan smiled grimly. Whatever had happened out there, it sure as hell was helping. In any event, they continued moving until of course, they had a choice. Go through the hallways and face the wrath of elites, or head the long, troubled, trap-ridden way and face only a few guards.

I don't have time for this s**t... Defenses or no, nothing stops me from protecting someone important.

"We're not taking the complicated way here- and I don't give a damn how heavily guarded it is, nor what they've got. I can guarantee that we're better. Straight ahead, people- there's no more time to waste!"

With that, Evan placed a small, four inch wide disc on one of the walls with a button in the middle of it. He pressed it... and then counted down from five. And when it was done, something like a high pitched whine would sound off. Naturally, this didn't mean anything to the team. But to the rest of the guards in the building, it would mean radio silence. For an indeterminate amount of time.

It was a pocket EMP, and it should throw any sort of organization into chaos for at least fifty feet down the hallway.

"Move out! Weapons at the ready!"

Go time.

Bravo was basically prepared for the situation. Stacked crates meant cover, cover meant someone was most likely there. Naturally, there was a solution to this, and it was in the form of Lieutenant Andrews' watch. There was another button- a red one- on the left side.

He made the motion to cover their ears, and a bit of barely discernable shuffling was heard as they slowly moved to retrieve their ear plugs. After Ryan did the same, he grinned as he pressed the button...

And a sonic assault hit the man behind the crates. The watch was also equipped with a high-frequency sonic emmitter that produced a good 110 dB of sound. It'd give the guy behind the crates, if there was one, a good hard smack to his ear canal, forcing his eyes closed and his hands over his ears.

Weapon drops, team comes out, guy gets knocked around and knocked out, team moves on. That was, if it worked.

Then that would be different, that one dragon would receive the brunt of the entire missile attack as it took the stun of the electrical shock, most of the missiles would hit their mark, even pulverizing the section of the city it landed in.

The other dragons were proving to be quite annoying, above a few FS fighters were dispatched to play with them in the skys, about five total. As long as they were below, they could snipe at them with their laser cannon, getting a few lucky shots here and there. Below, several platoons of holy men were from the temple of Ymir were dispatched to shield the fire patrol, infantry, and the hospital from attacks by the dragons using their holy and sometimes unholy arts to create protective barriers.

As for the other event, something big was coming, the preacher felt it, Ymir felt it, the holy men felt it. Fear.

Eripse liked what she saw. A few of the troops in the back would have warning, but Evan would be caught offguard at the front, as the creature soared over his head, wings trimmed for the walls, but flight none the less. She moved fast, limpid body carried by wings, relaxed. If she saw something, she shot it. If it moved, she shot it. If it swung at her, she swung back. Her armaments for the situation would be a Jericho, and the sword she'd carried in with her staff. Where one might make a noise to raise the hatches, Evan had Eri to bullrush ahead. As she went, her body would enlarge, elognated, and gain mass slowly, but steadily. Clothing ripped, where tight. The first thing to go would be her vest, buttons popping and fabric ripping as she grew steadily.

Giganti. As soon as her mass made flight unbearable, the beast would drop to the hall with the click of her taloned feet, Previously red eyes black and beady. Beak was a serrated death-trap. She'd shriek, and berate the first set of doors infront of her. Whatever guards she hadn't dismantled in her path she ignored, Bullets slamming into her back like gnats, as she began to pulverize the door.

She was reckless indeed, but that was her problem, wasn't it?

The EMP also set off the automated tripwire nearby, eliminating at least one threat. As they entered the corporate office, the infantry posted nearby would take cover in the seperate offices. Around corners, behind desks, wedged between filing cabnets, and posted around corners. A few would open fire, leading them into the interior and hopefully helping the RIOT squad forget about their buddies who were posted in ambush position. They were fighting according to a defensive plan, and radio silence would be called for anyway now that the enemy was in the attack zone.

Once they made it inside and about twenty meters through a simple maze of halls, this was no longer cubicle space, the sentry guns would activate, two infantrymen would begin firing from the cover of seperate doorways, and from the back a group of four would come from seperate offices, firing P90 LIR submachine guns and hurling frag grenades. Every office would become a mini-fortress as the infantry force attacked, and the battle would take on an air of urban warfare.

He would collapse, bleeding from the ears. The only thing in their way would be the steel bars, which needed to speedily removed, as another regular infantry platoon was moving in for the attack to get action while they were still in the vents.

She'd be caught in a dragnet, between two turrets, the soldeirs at the front would take cover in the offices, lobbing grenades at her feet, then from out of another office a phosphurus grenade would hit her, sticking before burning brightly into her flesh. The men in the rear would stay in cover as planned, until the attack force was behind them, those that were not discovered.

The other dragons were...

Gone. The pilots, more than likely paranoid of every shadow that looked like it was moving, were shooting only that.

The fighters would all explode as beams of light shot down from high above. Descending from the skies looked like something out of an episode of Gundam. It was a giant robotic figure with red armor and a humanoid structure. Coming from it's back looked like a pair of wings of energy bursting out from the open compartments behind it's shoulders. The beams of light coming from it's fingertips faded away, as it descended toward the city.

This is Omega, a weapon kept on Darsh's demi-plane, sealed away to never be activated again - until now. He never intended to keep it sealed away forever anyhow.

Opening hailing frequencies, a message was sent from the red mecha to the headquarters' communication room. If they had a telecom monitor, and they opened the message, they would see upon their screens the pilot of the red mecha. He looked very much like Darshendros, wearing a black pilot suit, except that his eyes were grey and blank of emotion.

"Surrender..." came a drawn out, whispery voice, "or die."

Giganti wasn't something like the little baby birdy of before. Eight feet tall, muscular, and the epithet of what a Phoenix from hell would look like. As she's caught in the net between the two guns, She'd rip them by the turrets that held them, Even as frag went off at her feet. Let it. The White Phosphorous only urged her on, A blinding light of pain and glow on her back as she grew less focused, and more rampage-y. Screaming shrieks would pierced earlobes as she assaulted anything that moved, and even things that stood still. Cubicles were rended from her path, Computers used as Neo-boulders, monitors thrown with one hand, Feet lobbing others like footballs. Infantry would be brutalized, and in the end, when monitor's couldn't cut it, She'd swing an Infantryman by his legs.

As if they couldn't see them scampering for cover. Not gonna happen. And besides, they had a walking tank in front of them. That dragnet however was awfully convienient...

Still, two flashbangs were tossed out and went pop just inside the doors of the offices that the guards were hidng in, making their ears whine for a good while. Yes, they could throw them that far. Two more followed, just in front of the interior as the guards were running off. Why so many? Because there were guards everywhere and thus, more ground needed to be covered.

The grenades went off at Eri's feet, but it didn't touch the team at all so they were covered pretty well while the opponents were distracted. That said, they held their position behind her, a few team members letting off shots at the heads of the elites that were trying to lure them into what was eventually an ambush.

The shots were damned accurate, and had good penetration even at this range...

Notably, they were already on it. Usually It'd take a few minutes, two at the most, but they'd get through. How? Simple enough- any sort of metal would be quite sparse when heat was applied to it. Steel wasn't entirely that resistant to it. That said, there was a laser cutter within one of the pockets of the operatives...

"Pass it to me, somebody! Now!"

One of them did. Frankly, it took less time than one could have expected- no more than ten seconds. A laser cutter was evidenty more effective than a cutting torch these days. The bars fell helplesly against the floor as they came scrambling out and moved along, catching the incoming team with a hail of pistol fire as they exited the room, swift and sudden.

General Bakkar was sweating, but not because of the infiltration, that was the least of his worries, the red mobile suit had come out of nowhere, oblitarating five FS fighters in a surprise attack. Now the pilot was issueing commands, surrender our die.

"Just when I thought we had the situation outside under control, they have to go and pull this s**t. That thing isn't of this earth," he said, "Damn, what is it. What do they want from us."

A door closed from behind, Dr. Iskugawa was standing behind it, pushing up his glasses.

"Omega Weapon, a mobile suit only spoken of in legend, I always knew it existed. They laughed at me, but who's laughing now! This is truley a most glorious day for the world of science! We must capture it, yes, we must. It must be studied carefully, taken apart inch by inch and every minute detail examined."

"We have to defeat it first, any suggestions?"

"Even the Leviathan's don't stand much of a chance with the current weaponry, let me see, yes I know,"

The Dr. made a call, the refitting of the Leviathans would take six hours, he told them to get it done in three.

"Do everything possible to hold it off until the Leviathans are ready. You are authorized to use Big Momma. The temple clergy must summon the Midgard Runt. If that fails, we can always use the ring."

"You can't be serious, that is a sealed relic, there's no telling......"

"These are trying times Sigmund, besides, if the Necropolis takes this city, the ring would only fall into their hands anyway. Humanity as we know it would be wiped out in the blink of an eye. Durem, Barton, Aekea, Latent, Lament, Strata, Heaven's Gate, Valus would all cease to exist as mortal cities very shortly. Even without the ring, my experiments, and all the other temple relics, turning this city into a necropolis would make "Undead Freakistan", as you like to say, damn near unstoppable."

"That would be unacceptable," General Bakkar said, "It seems I have my work cut out for me then?"

"I suppose you do, General,"said Iskugawa,"See that you delay Omega at all costs."

*********

The guns of Fortress HQ remained silent as Omega Descended, technitians studying it's unique engine pattern and recalibrating the missile software. Once it reached one thousand meters, the work would be done, the hatches would open, and a barage of over 1,000 Svendari missiles would swarm Omega, locked onto the engine patern and at close range, the heat signature of the vessel. They were set to explode if they reached anywhere near their target. They came from the fortress, the western ridge, the southern desert, and the northern wasteland simultaneously. If they were anything approaching success in even damaging the weapon, they would continue to be launched until the supply was exhausted.

Yaits city went to full blackout mode, electricity going down from the edges, all the way to the pentagon shaped HQ. As it approaching 2 in the morning, every district of Yaits city except for the pentagon went dark.

Omega hovered in the air as the barrage of missiles came forth, exploding all around it, engulfing it in an infernal cloud of fire and smoke. When the huge cloud of smoke cleared away some moments later, Omega remained hovering, seemingly unscathed. The space around Omega seemed distorted, wavering with ripples for a moment before settling back to normal.

Ether Shield: 85%

"My turn."

Omega's six wings flared out, and six-hundred thin, missile-shaped beams of energy would fire out of them, one-hundred out of each wing, targetting all of the missile batteries around the area and dispersing to take them all out simultaneously.

"You're only delaying the inevitable."

The right arm of Omega raised, opening it's hand and facing the palm toward the Pentagon. The hand lighted up with crimson energy, gathering into a shimmering sphere and growing, until it was about twice the size as Omega's hand.

Of the one hundred Nibelheim Shield intercepter missiles that automatically fired at any incoming object or energy that threatened the fortress. Since this was an energy attack, the missiles exploded to release a temporary wave of heavy ions which stop the beams before they could reach their targets and do any harm. This would allow another five hundred Svendari missiles to bombard the target from every direction before it released another wave.
