And the little Blue Impressed. Jala sighed, watching the Green walk amongst the girls. His eyes looked back towards the remaining three eggs. Perhaps three more dragons would be on the sands. Of course, if they didn't hatch, none of them might at all.

Ah, well. The Hatching had been fun. He looked towards the girls to see who would make the Impression. Not that he'd ever get up the nerve to go talk to any of them, but it was always nice to see.

It was turning out be quite the Hatching for certain. The green's loss earlier on had been a terrible tragedy, but there had been plenty of happy Impressions since that time. The brown let out a small croon as he watched the Hatchlings down on the Sands. It was quite heartwarming to see the green and blue support each other like that. It is good to see supportive young dragons, he said to Eltimioth, eyes still glued to the Sands as they had remained all this time. Ah, look, the blue has Impressed.

There were only a few eggs left, and so far all of the dragons seemed to be in quite good health. Other than the one unfortunate green, things were turning out quite well really. S'ren could only watch and hope that things continued to go as smoothly as they had thus far.

The blue found his, no mauling needed for this one. And now the green, looks like she knows exactly where she is headed.

Three eggs left, will one be his? Would these last ones be Atypicals? All these thoughts went through Saykiro's mind as the green continued on her path to the girls.

As soon as the pretty blue had found His, off went the green with a roar loud enough to have Akaya wincing--probably most noticeable because she and all the other candidates were still close to the eggs, awaiting the atypicals. Still, her enthusiasm was heartening, and she certainly had several girls to choose from yet. It had occurred to Akaya that the odds were dwindling as to the chances of actually Impressing, but she was too caught up in the action at hand to pay it too much mind. If she was disappointed, she'd be disappointed, but she'd be distracted from it soon enough...when there were dragons who sang and songs to write yet.

So there was only one left now...well, one and a trio of eggs that didn't even look like they were trying to move. Ofelia just sat watching all the drama unfold on the sands, wanting things to hurry up. Her opinion of a hatching was still fairly high actually, it'd been fun when a dragon chose and she got to watch the silly looks on people's faces when they failed or succeeded, but overall this seemed to be taking too long. In reality a full candlemark probably hadn't even passed, what with egg after egg popping like flowers from the ground, but it just felt longer.

With this green looking and finally Impressing it would mean they were done, right? Unless that woman got to smack around eggs with her shovel again. Ofelia...wasn't too sure how she felt about that. She'd told Gabriel and Viskal before her feelings on it and they stayed true, but she didn't dare speak them now, surrounded by so many people. It was possible people would consider it "Benden Talk", not that she believed Benden to be right or wrong.

People at Trine sure were touchy.

It didn't take the green very long either to find her clutchmate, her happy steps sending her around a certain girl several times. Each pass presented the specific figure in question with more chirps and trills, almost as if she were trying to tell a story or sing a song. Either way her choice was so obvious it almost took a calling of another dragon just to get her to settle down and let Hers know that it was time for them to be together, from now until they were parted.

It was only after her fourth or fifth lap that she did indeed stop, her calls finally silent and her head raised to look into her companions eyes. There was love, devotion, and something more mixed in.

AkayaMine, AkayaMine! Your Sleeth is here, let's sing!

And with that the last of the dragonets on the sands had Impressed, and it was time perhaps for Brakaith to check these eggs once more. Considering they hadn't moved since the green and blue had come out and run amongst the candidates, it was clear they weren't going to hatch on their own.

So there were three left, none of which was moving, though the hatching of the Crimson had already proved that it didn't mean there wasn't a living, but weak dragon inside. Hard to believe that the tiny red thing would grow to be something like the size of the lost Crimson mother, B'tar had to admit, but there it was.

And He was still halfway convinced that in some unlikely, confounding way, the existence of these Atypes had something to do with the thriving of Malvren and Trine.

He rubbed his chin with a chuckle at Sleeth's antics, her chirping and singing, as though she were celebrating the bond with her new partner. A literal Dragon-Harper, as it were.

Quite the place, Trine. Pitty it's so revoltingly hot. He lamented to Primath.

There, and the last dragon had found Her mate. Jala looked again towards the three remaning eggs. None were moving; so it must be time for Abigail and her shovel? He watched the Weyrwoman and the eggs with interest. What would hatch, if anything?

N'ymi looked at the growing group of newly Impressed. She wrinkled her nose as a boy came in with a blue and a girl with a green. By her count, only two eggs were left on the Sands Or was it three? Briefly, the newly made blue rider wondered if Abigail would be breaking out the shovel to help out the last two. She supposed that soon enough she would be forced to learn who all their clutch mates and etc would be...

We can meet the newest little ones! I can help them learn and grow. Daroth was excited at the prospect of meeting the runts.

Saykiro looked to see who the green picked. It was the girl who liked writing songs. Good for her. The other three had not moved during this time and he looked towards the Weyrwoman. Since they had moved in, he wondered if they would get egg goo on them from the egg cracking. Not that he minded getting dirty, being an apprentice beastcrafter and growing up with them, Dirty was a natural occurrence as he grew up and even now.

"YES. FINALLY. CAN WE GO?"

Ofelia's words were loud as she practically stood up in the stands, her brother grabbing hold of her wrist and yanking her back down before she could draw even more attention to the pair in the process. Already several people had moved away from them and her loud comments over the course of the hatching, not really a bad thing since the people that sat next to her seemed to be constantly impressing. There was also that...smell, which only seemed to be getting worse with the heat and with the crowd of people surrounding her. Ofelia and her brother likely couldn't smell it, but that didn't mean those around her were immune to the wonders of rotting flesh.

Pretty sure that her ear would fall off from how hard it'd been yanked as her brother whispered some unkind words into it, Ofelia crossed her arms over her chest as soon as she got done rubbing the tender spot. Bruises from pinches and an ear nearly ripped from her skull - this sucked. She'd get revenge on her brother later by pouring something into one of his projects, or by putting offal into his bed. Such pranks were childish, yes, but Ofelia didn't really think straight when hot, tired, and upset.

"Fine, fine. I'll set 'ere and wait it out then, if yer gonna be such a wherry's arse about it."

For a moment, when the little green headed into the girls after that gorgeous blue had chosen his boy, La stood up straight and waited, but the green chose someone else, and she loosened up, shaking out her long limbs and glancing over to the eggs. Not a twitch, and her gaze traveled to Abigal and the shovel. Now was the time she had been waiting for. It was down to the wire, just between the Candidates, Abigail, and a shovel. No more unpredictable explosions of hatchlings bursting forward. Less of a chance of some rage-fueled dragon charging out with claws and teeth at the ready. She could relax, watch the last few eggs, and then hit the lake.

Overall? Fantastic afternoon.

Akaya was bemused at the circling, more so at the vocalizations--she hadn't quite realized the full range, and she wondered briefly if adult dragons kept it...or if most of them were just too dignified to make such 'silly' noises--and utterly lost at what was going on. The sound of another dragon had her glancing off for a moment, but the gaze of the green meeting her own eyes had Akaya forget altogether what all the fuss was.

AkayaMine, AkayaMine! Your Sleeth is here, let's sing!

"Oh tongue give sound to joy and sing, of hope and promise on dragonwing!" was the Harpergirl's breathy, vaguely lyrical exclamation, as she fell upon Sleeth's neck with a great embrace--she'd been holding it in a long while, and surely no one could object when it was her very own dragon! Wonders would never cease--well, she'd known that--but somehow Sleeth's whirling eyes were absolutely the best thing in all of Pern. Well, second to music, but she'd never have to choose between them, now would she?

A singing dragon! The very best one there had even been, Akaya was quite sure (her Impression-addled mind did not stop to wonder if there had been others previous; this was a moot point).

That was a start! Shouldn't you sing louder though?

Akaya laughed. "Oh, Sleeth, louder is not always better." That was something she should probably say right off the start. A sudden spasm and a feeling of deep hunger hit Akaya, and she gasped. "Though perhaps we ought to feed you before singing," she amended.

That would be all right, Sleeth conceded. But you could sing while feeding me, right? The idea seemed to have come suddenly to the green by the tone of 'isn't this a great idea!' in her mental voice, and Akaya laughed again.

"We can most certainly attempt it!" she said, patting Sleeth before scrambling back to her feet and leading them off the Sands to where food lay waiting.

S'ren and Tereth both were quite pleased when the Harper candidate Impressed to the trilling green. She'd likely have a great time making music with that one. I look forward to hearing the music from those two, the brown remarked to His, eyes whirling a very happy mix of blue and green.

Oh, I am sure there will be quite a bit of that, S'ren thought back with a small chuckle. I don't doubt she'll be starting that dragon choir soon either.

That would be quite pleasant.

It would be unique, that is for sure. There were only three eggs left on the Sands now. What would they yield?

Optheli waited with breathless anticipation. What was going to happen next? It looked like there was only a few more eggs left. In a way she felt bad for those who weren't to Impress this time. There'd always be next time right? On the other hand.... she was thrilled at the unexpected Impressing of her own. 'It's time for the others to hatch, Mine.' Dynith watches the last three still eggs.
