 Looking at Hana with slight relief that she woke he answered, "The prince was captured...Bjorn and a boy are in pursuit...when you're ready we can follow." Renka did brace himself mentally in case she suspected him of being involved with what happened, but he figured that all could be settled later when it was safe.  "I see...." Sei thought for a second, "Do you know the location of these terrorists, or at least where they're headed? I rarely miss my targets, especially when they're that large."

Hana practically jumped to her feet. "Let's go," she said.
"A-Are you sure? You just woke up and-" James said.
"The more we dally around here, the farther Satoshi gets. I have protected Aki for two years. I will not fail here," Hana interrupted. Looking at Renka, she said, "Lead the way."

Bjorn stopped at the wall of fire, attempting to gauge it's thickness and how fast he'd have to run to get through with minimal injuries, when the fire was stopped. "Thank you." he said, taking off past Laptus when he saw some smoke ahead. Not natural smoke, to be sure.
"There." he said simply.

Satoshi knew he didn't have a lot of time to get away. The pursuit was gaining on them and the smoke screen wouldn't last much longer. A thought came to mind. Well, I was trying to not use that, but... He pulled out another small sphere and threw it to the ground, while still under the cover of the smoke screen. Satoshi and Aki disappeared just as the screen dissipated, leaving nothing but his footprints behind.
Satoshi and Aki reappeared at the gates of Tinto. Satoshi carried the unconscious prince through town, looking for the king.

Bjorn came to a stop where the smokescreen was. He looked around, listening intently. Silence. No footsteps.
The man was gone.
How, he couldn't guess. "Laptus, he's gone." he stated.

Renka glanced between the guy and Hana, both were right..but the prince took priority.. "Very well.." He shifted the scythe on his shoulder and started at a slow run to make sure the two that had been gassed could easily keep up and still recover from the effects. Sei was still waiting the girl's next response when she noticed someone carrying a boy... where she grew up they mostly know names, not faces..so she didn't recognize him as the prince.

Hana ran after the boy, hoping against hope that Bjorn had already caught up with them and that Aki was safe.
James scrambled to his feet and ran after them.

Satoshi decided to find the king later. The sleeping gas wasn't going to last much longer, so it wouldn't be long before Aki would wake, and conscious prisoners were always a pain to handle. At the prison, the guards guarding it let him pass without even questioning him, recognizing him as the king's assassin. Satoshi placed Aki in a cell then left, closing the cell door on his way out. He left the prison to continue his search for the king so he could report the prince's capture.

"Nng..." As Aki regained consciousness, the first thing he noticed was the light headedness. The second was that he was not laying on the forest floor where he had passed out. He was laying on a stone floor. Aki opened his eyes and pushed himself into a sitting position. He waited for the light headedness to pass, then looked around. He appeared to be in a prison. Where, he couldn't tell.
His thoughts turned to the encounter with Satoshi, the last thing he remembered before passing out. The b*****d used sleeping gas, he thought.

It was after he cleared the fire that Bjorn had caught up with him. He gave a simple "Thank you.." and continued ahead of him. There was a sudden presence of smokescreen before them. 'He must be desparate' It was then Bjorn said something, however it was barely audible. As they reached the site where the smoke had made it's appearence, they found themselves alone. No footsteps. The man was gone. "Laptus, he's gone" Bjorn stated in a somewhat solem voice. Laptus studied the ground, boring his eyes straight down to the earth benaeth him. He noticed footprints, however they stopped dead only a few feet in front of him. " We might as well head back..."

((Oh, Hentaro, Satoshi and Aki just disappeared. I guess that wasn't worded very well, but Satoshi just used a magic item that teleported them away. The footprints mentioned in my post were the ones where Satoshi had just been standing right before using the teleporting...thingy.))

Bjorn shook his head. "The nearest town is a few day's walk from here. And look, the footsteps stop." he said, pointing to where they did a few feet from Laptus.
He heard footsteps behind them and turned to see the other group returning. He said nothing, for the moment.

Hana ran over to Bjorn, and saw that the footprints just stopped. Neither Aki nor Satoshi were anywhere to be found. Not even a trace. As if they just...disappeared.
"He got away..." Hana shook her head. "How can the prints just stop? What the hell did he do to simply disappear without a trace?"
"What do we do now?" James asked. "If we don't rescue Aki, they'll kill him for sure."

Maka Chaka Maka shook her head. "No, they're a small group of rebels. That's why we needed General Ickz." She sighed. "Well, I guess we better head back to Tinto. The doctor needs to know that he wasn't around. I hope he's not angry at me..." She turned to Sei and Mira. "Are you two coming?"

Renka came to a stop when they reached Bjorn and the boy, glaring at the trackless ground and silently cursing himself for not being fast enough. Still he kept a clear head... "..the ones that captured him..wouldn't they do a public execution since he's the leader of the rebels? It would give us a bit of time too if they do..." He thought out loud as he knelt and lightly touched the last footprints. Sei nodded to the woman, "Sure.." she followed. ((writer's block for Sei. -.- ))
