"Or you might end up giving yourself a concussion and still be stuck in this wretched false reality," Scribbler countered.
She had nothing to say about the other part, because quite frankly...the inkmancer was a hair's width from shanking someone with a pen.
Maybe even something.

"The column could give, too...which wouldn't go well for any of us."

"Point taken." Emma retracted her head, sighing wearily and trying to rearrange her hair.

"I need to go home."

That can be arranged.

Emma whirled, looking for the source of the voice out of instinct. "WHERE ARE YOU?"

On my way.

The inkmancer resisted the urge to toss her head back and cackle like a madwoman. Small victories were always fun. Now if she could only get rid of that niggling urge of pen-related savagery...

Emma's odd cry snapped the inkmancer right out of her musings.

"Your knight in shining armour is coming?" she teased.

"He had better not be, I sent him away for a reason!"

To recover. I have...well, in a way.

His voice was audible to Scribbler as well now.

"Well-but-you-I-what?"

You do realize you're saying all of this out loud, correct?

"Oh."

Quite the violent urges I'm seeing in your head, darling.

Hello, Lord Bainbridge. Glad to hear you're well.
Scribbler bites the inside of her cheek, forcing down the fit of laughter and shoving down the mental image of Valeto with a pen through one orbital.
We've been...a little stressed lately.

A small grin broke through, and out tumbled the giggles. This can't be happening, she thought to herself.

A giggle of hysteria broke through Emma's composure.

You're half-mad...what happened?

"Nonsense. I'm fine."

Can you see your mind? You're past the breaking point at least twice over.

"I guess I've already broken."

If we were airplanes...we'd be running on fumes, only kept up by some miraculous failure of physics, Scribbler quipped, letting the giggles run their course.
It was fine when they had something to do, something to focus on like survival or a battle, but now that there was a lull...
The inkmancer calmed, focusing on Emma's mental state and using the worry to anchor her.
Please do hurry, Lord Bainbridge.

I am.

Emma echoed Scribbler's words, still looking around as if expecting her Lord to drop out of the sky. "Please hurry..."

I hope this helps. It will not last long, but it's the best I can do.

Something flooded through both Emma and Scribbler, though it would affect each differently. Not magical energy in the strictest sense, but...sanity. Calming, tranquil, beautiful sanity.

To Emma, it felt like a warm shower, tension melting away from both muscles and mind.

It felt as if there was a beautiful flurry of snowflakes, delicately glittering in the sun as they drifted down from a clear blue sky. Scribbler's eyes slid closed and her posture sagged, the earlier conflicting emotions resolving and draining from her psyche. The pool stopped rippling.

Thank you...

"See, this is why I married you."

Not because of my dashing good looks or boyish charm?

"Don't kid yourself."

I'm hurt, Emma.

"Don't be." She closed her eyes, rejoicing in the feel of a quiet mind. The screaming had stopped, as had the laughter. The enchantress concentrated for a moment-

And, far away, the sorcerer smiled as he felt phantom fingers trace their way down his cheek and familiar lips brush his own.

"Thank you."

Farskon stood there awkwardly, feeling a little phased out of the conversation.
Not that this was anything new to him, he had been left out in many things in his life. From family debates, to plans of a sports game.

He waited for them to finish, and then cleared his throat."Yeah there's two other Sevens here...I have no clue which ones..."

"Maybe they will be more helpful than the one we just met. Shall we go find them?" Scribbler suggested.
She gave an attempt at sensing particularly strong souls in the area, reaching out...but did not get very far.

"If they are anything like the one we just met, I have no intention of dealing with them." Emma replied, voice lacking the knife-edge it had so recently possessed.

She was sane again, if only for a little while.

"Most of the Originals have the same philosophy as Valeto, but they aren't as vain," Replied Farskon."Looking for them isn't wise though, but I don't see what else we can do."

"Won-der-ful. We don't appear to have a choice, though," the inkmancer stated wryly.

There were armoured footsteps echoing down the hall already, though it was merely one set; probably not a patrol. Scribbler perked her ears.

"There's not much time."
