Gage nodded quietly at the man. He had inquired about the same thing to Kai a few years back. 'Looks like he can be trusted...' He thought as the man continued on about his tattoos. When the man asked if it was Kai he had seen, he knew immediatly that they must have been related. "Yes sir, I have. Kai Nara." He said with a smile. "I'm guessing ya'll must be related. Before you ask though, last time I saw her she was fine, but that was almost a week ago." He said looking down at the ground. 'Maybe I should of brought her with me...' He thought as he waited for a response.

(Crappy *** post, not like me sorry. I have been busy... I just lost my 3.7 gpa, things are not going good right now... stare )

Matsuya smiled a little and nodded when Gage said he and Kai must be related. "Yeah, Kai and I are cousins." He sighed and paced a bit more. "A week, huh? That's a lot less than the last time I saw her. It must be around a year now. She'll be quite mad when she learns that I'm back and haven't tried to contact her." Matsuya turned back to Gage and smirked. It was time to test the boy's ability in other matters. But, Matsuya was having a hard time choosing which method to test the boy with. "Well, it's time to evaluate your abilities. So, you can choose a way to impress me. I'm not picky, I just need something to prove that your worth our time."

Before the man could finish his last sentence the boy was gone. If the man was a Nara, he'd be able to keep up. Not long after he disappered he reappered farther back and with one smoothe motion let kunia fly and was gone again. The kunia made it's way passed the man's head and would of hit the wall, but Gage appeared again. This time he was behind the man and caught his kunia in a reverse grip. He let out a sigh of exhaustion as he relaxed his pose. "Is that good enough?" He asked as he leaned against the wall and slid into a sitting postion. 'I haven't done that in awhile..' He thought as he tried to regain his breath.

((I used only my speed shinobi for this post. Obviously being a genin I cam pretty close to over exertiing myself. I know my post are crap right now. but i'm not on my laptop. I'm suppose to be on restriction lol... My mom trips over Ds... >.>))

Matsuya's eyes shot back and forth as he followed the boy's movements. Finally, Gage appeared behind him with the kunai in hand. He turned just as Gage hit the floor. He took a few steps back and then squatted so that his robes brushed the floor. "Yes, that'll work. I now can vouch for you to join our village, so long as the Mizukage approves. But I can't see Luo not approving it unless something comes up." Matsuya took his notebook out of a pocket in his robes and started leafing through it. He looked up at Gage and stopped turning pages. "Even if Luo doesn't approve, you've caught my interest. That, and you know that I call this village home. This wouldn't be a problem, but the majority of the world probably believes me to be dead. So, I think you can see how it would be a problem if suddenly everyone and their mother knew that I'm here." Matsuya didn't add the fact that he was trying to set up an information network for his own gain. But, he'd already set down one rule: never sell accurate information about Kiri and it's residents. Lies were another thing entirely, however. But, if Gage agreed to not tell anyone that he lived in Kiri, Matsuya might consider to teach the boy personally. Maybe he would even bring Gage into his little business.

Gage gave the man a smile as he caught his breath. He listened quiety as the man countinued on about him being 'dead'. He laughed out loud as he stood and gave the man a serious look. "Looks like I'm not the only one who's keeping secrets..." He said with a weird smirk. "I hope everything works out. I will be in a bind otherwise..." He said, thining about what he had went through to get here.

(/sigh... so hard to do this on a wack little pc that has a keyboard a little bigger then a smart phone.)

Matsuya leaned back and fell onto the floor. He laid on his back and held his notebook above him. He took out a pencil and started jotting down notes on a blank page. "No, not by a long shot, my young friend. I think everyone in this world of ours has secrets. That's why I work to find those secrets, so I can use them against their owners." Matsuya kept jotting down notes. They were generally an overview of Gage and the information he had brought. His mind was running over things, as well. Matsuya knew that he would have to set out and find Kai soon. He had sworn to protect his clan at all costs when he'd been made the head of the Naras. And she was the only one he knew of outside of the compound in Konoha. So, Matsuya would have to talk to Luo first. He sighed heavily and kept writing. "Say, Gage, if you are accepted into the village by the Mizukage, how'd you like to go out and find Kai with me? If the Mizukage gives permission, of course."

Gage listened as the man talked about secrets. He nodded his head silently as he began to let his eyes wander the facility. There was ninja here and there doing what ever they where there to do. Then the man mentioned going find Kai, Gage suddenly perked up. 'She won't recognize me...' He thought as the man finished speaking. He didn't know how else to put it so he told the man straight. "I'd like to help you, but I know she wont recognize me because I dyed my hair. If you take me for my word I'll go, because I know Kai doesn't fall far from her tree..." He said with a smile, remembering that special tree Kai had planted when Gage first became a genin.

Matsuya smiled behind his book. He was liking Gage more and more as they spoke. He had to give the boy credit, hiding his identity outside of his home village was a smart move. But Matsuya could never dye his hair, he was too proud. The stark contrast between his hair and his abilities as a Nara gave him some liking for the silver mess on his head. Matsuya laughed a little as he reached a page in his book about an old apple merchant in Iwagakure. Well that takes me back. I made that contact back when I was Hokage and Sev was still just a boy. Then Matsuya's mind drifted to Sev and the rest of Konohagakure. It made him a little sad to think they didn't even know that he was alive. He might just take a little side trip after they'd found Kai. He'd been hearing rumors here and there that the young Naga boy had risen to glory. That was among Matsuya's top concerns, seeing as who the boy's "father" was. "Well, Gage, we could leave at any time. I'll just send a messenger hawk Luo's way and we can be on our way." Matsuya snapped his books shut and stood up. He slid the book back into his robes and looked at the boy. "So, how about it, want to go on a little adventure?" A grin tugged at the corners of Matsuya's mouth. He was quite excited to be out of the village at last.

Gage watched in silence as the man continued to rummage through his book. After a short while the man spoke then shut his book and stood. Gage followed the man's jester and stood after him. Gage glanced at the man a short moment after he stood and noticed a small grin that started to plague the man's face as he asked Gage if he was ready. 'That grin could be my beginning... Or my end...' He thought as he gave the man a nod. "Yeah... I don't mind. Let's get going. I move faster in the dark anyways..." He said, knowing that it was getting darker by the moment outside. Although you couldn't tell the difference between night and day in the Mist, Gage could feel the darkness, giving him a good sense of time.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:28 pm

Matsuya glanced out a window and blinked in surprise. It was getting quite dark. And while Matsuya's abilities would only benefit from the night's darkness, he hadn't counted on it being this late already. "You'll have to forgive me for this, but I don't think we'll be leaving tonight. There are a few things I need to do before we leave. Things to learn and people to talk to." Matsuya looked at Gage with a guilty smile. He really hadn't thought it was this late. He needed some time to run the whole thing by Luo and then learn a quick jutsu he'd been meaning to. And he'd have to stop by the library to rent the scroll. "I'll tell you what, take a good look around the village. Get to know the place. When I'm ready to start out, I'll send someone to find you. How's that sound?" Matsuya's smile retreated as he spoke these words. Kai was his only family he knew of outside of the Konohagakure compound. He knew that finding her was of the utmost importance, but he wasn't about to rush out without doing some research into the matter. That way, he would have a good start in his journey. "Well, Gage, I'll find you when it's time to go. Until then, goodbye." Matsuya walked out of the facility and took a breath of fresh, night air. A small smile formed on his lips as he felt the dampness of the mist. Then, he jumped off into the trees around the facility. He'd jump tree to tree, roof to roof until he made it to the edge of the Bloody Prairie. There, he was sure, he would find Luo. Luo did love his formality in things. And the girl who'd arrived with Gage seemed to want to establish some sort of treaty. So with that knowledge, Matsuya made the assumption that Luo was making a ceremony of it.

EXIT

((Sorry for bailing like this, but I feel like we can work our search into the new arc that was released. That way, we can get a mission, Gage can get to know the village a little bit, Matsuya can take care of his business in Konoha, and we can hopefully find Kai.))

"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..."

Arriving at the training facility, Kai remembered the day that it had been all but destroyed during the Gobi's assault on the village. One wouldn't even be able to tell it had ever been damaged now, but he could still remember the holes that had been rent through its ceiling as the lightning bolts fell, just one of the Gobi's Five Calamities. Walking through the large double-doors, Kai nodded his head briefly at the woman sitting at the main desk, he had no need to borrow weapons from the facility so he wouldn't need to sign in. Walking into the first floor's main training hall, Kai swept his stark white eyes across the room looking for his new charge, quickly spotting the lad as he was the only one around.

Walking toward the young lad, Kai called over to him,
"You must be Gage, yes? I've been instructed to... well instruct you. Matsuya-San sends his apologies for having to delay your trip. Oh, right, my name is Kaizen Minoru, now let's get down to business. What are your elemental affinities, and what is it you still need to learn?" As he waited for the genin's reply, Kai's pupil-less white eyes swept over the lad, trying to take a measure of him. Doesn't look like a particularly big guy, probably not a Taijutsu or Weapon specialist.

xxxxIt had been a long time. It had been a very long time since she had set foot in this building. Despite that, she was still slightly edgy, her posture drawn tight like a snake coiled to attack. Without fail, every time she had ever entered the Training Facility, she ended up in some kind of a fight. She really wasn't in the mood for a fight. She wasn't even sure why she was there in the first place. She didn't have any real reason to be there except that she was bored and looking for something to do. Something to do, someone to talk to, students to terrorize, she wasn't particularly picky. Much to her surprise, there were two people in the training facility when she entered. It had been a long time. She hadn't seen or interacted with another person in a very long time. It wasn't quite clear to her what the reason was, but she soon found herself approaching the area where they were training, observing the two in absolute silence. Training was the worst. It was tedious, and really irritating when people were noisy and broke a person's concentration. So she was silent for a moment as she observed the shinobi, making quick mental notes as she watched. From what she could see, it seemed that the white-haired shinobi was introducing himself to the other boy. She guessed that he was of a higher rank than herself, as Genin weren't permitted to train one-another. Her curiosity was clear, though. She had never come across either of the shinobi for the duration of her life in Kirigakure, and they both had piqued her interest. It had been a very long time.

"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..."

As he waited for Gage to respond, Kai heard another enter the large training room. Looking over his shoulder, Kai's pupil-less white eyes gave the girl a quick once over, lifting a curious eyebrow as he met her own pale gaze. A Hyuuga perhaps? I doubt that she has those eyes for the same reason I do in any case, he thought to himself. Turning slightly so he wouldn't have to continue looking over his shoulder, Kai waved the girl over and said in a friendly tone, "don't be shy now, we won't bite... well I won't in any case!" Chuckling at his own joke, Kai waited for the girl to move towards them before he said, "My name is Kaizen Minoru, you can just call me Kai if you'd like, is there anything I can help you with? I was just about to help out our friend from Iwa here learn a thing or two." It wasn't exactly Kai's job to teach people, but if he was going to be doing it anyway, he might as well help as many as he could, he owed the village that much at least.

Gage gave the man a look of concern and disappointment. 'I wonder... Something must have come up... He thought as he watched the man leave. "Check the village out... Yeah right I can't look at something I can't see clearly..." He said out loud as he threw the kunia in his hand full force at the wall farthest from him. It hit and sunk into the wall about a inch with little noise. Gage leaned against the wall and sunk to his haunches. 'Whats there to do, but sit and wait...' He thought as he closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.

Dreaming wasn't one of Gage's favorite things, but this dream was the same one he'd been having over the last several weeks. He had very little sleep as of late, probably making the dreams even worse. Gage dreamed once more of Iwa falling into ruins. He dreamed of himself doing everything he had did that fateful day. He only rememebered a call for evactuation and all Shinibio to report to the Kage's office. No one ever made it... The fog hit and earthquakes, well thats what it sounded like anyways, seemed to be endless. Gage could barely see 10 feet in front of him... He rememebered the vibrations, the occasional roars... then the voice of Kai came. "HELP ME!" Gage snapped out of the dream immediatly. "Kai..." He muttered as he stood and was about to make his way out of the building. Mist or no mist, he was going to do what he was told and fast. He wanted to make sure Kai was alright and soon...

As soon as Gage was about to mak a step in that direction, another shinobi appeared. "Matsuya must be rea-..." was as far as he got before he heard the man said that there trip was delayed once more. 'Great...' He thought as he listend to what the shinobi had to say. He let the thought sink in as another person appeared. 'Rather odd...' He thought as he knew it was getting late. 'These shinobi must train at night. That could be good for me...' He thought as Kaizen, the man who had come to teach him apparently, called out to the girl who walked in. After saying what he had to say Gage sighed and began speaking. "Yes, I'm Gage Urashimi from Iwakakure. It's a pleasure to meet you, Kaizen Minoru." He said with a light bow.

He returned to a normal posture before continuing. "My elemental affinity is Katon(ooc: Fire). As of right now, what I really would like to know is do ya'll have a special jutsu that can help me see through the mist out there." Gage said pointing in the direction of the girl. "I'd really appreciate if I learned that first." He said with a smile.

((Excuse the mess. I didn't run it through word because im on my sisters laptop. I need to get another charger for mine... >.> And I think i read what happened in Iwa right. It doesnt partain to the current situation anyways, so it should be fine for now. I hope you like the post and sorry for the wait.))

"We are the culmination of every choice we have ever made..."

Turning his attention back to Gage as the genin began to speak, Kai's lips turned up in a small smile, good to see that this one has manners, that's one lesson he won't have to learn at least. After the boy had finished, Kai blinked twice in confusion before he said, "... the mist? Oh, right! I sometimes forget that foreigners can't see too well around here. Hmmm, I don't really know of any special techniques to learn how to see any better, so I guess you'll just have to get used to it the old fashioned way... spending time in the mist. Which leads us to our first training exercise." Walking over to a storage bin near the entrance, Kai pulled out one of the Mist Village's patented training vest.

Tossing the seventy-five pound vest towards Gage, an easy task for Kaizen, though whether it would be easy for the genin to catch it would likely be a different matter. Walking back over to Gage, Kai placed his hands on his hips before saying,
"Alright, well I'm pretty hungry, so for your first training exercise I need you to go to Nikko's and pick me up a bowl of ramen, any kind will do. Make sure he knows that I sent you and he'll give you a bowl with a line drawn on the inside, which he will fill the bowl to. Your job is to bring it back here without losing a single drop. I have to warn you though, of all the Genin I've ever known that took on this mission, not a one was successful... well, what are you waiting for, get moving!"

Once Gage left, Kai then began to think to himself, my repertoire of Katon jutsu is rather limited, perhaps while he's gone I'll make a quick trip to the library for some scrolls.

"... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear."

(so technically you would have to learn the B-ranked suiton jutsu whose name I can't recall, but since you don't really have that option, I'm just going to say that 10 posts getting used to the mist will be enough, it just won't count when people use the actual hidden mist jutsu, you don't have to do extra posts or anything, just make sure to mention your character gradually becoming more used to the mist; for the training post once in kiri beach, kiri market, and then Nikkos, be sure to post once more at each location on your way back too, this is a D-rank mission)
