"Multitudes of women...are...logistically foolish," he said, still grinning. "And as...for the naked...part, well...you could always...fix that." He closed his eyes again and sighed. "I'm not...stressed. Just...bored."
He opened his eyes again and regarded Saieve without expression. "Adela...can I talk...to you...alone?"

Adela almost snorted. "No peep show for you. You gotta get better before anything happens." Not to say that she WOULD get naked for him later, just that she was certainly NOT going to do it now.
She looked at Saieve with a slight helpless expression. "Can you wait outside? It's just for a little bit. I promise to help you after this, okay?" She waited until Saieve left. Once he did, she turned to look at Schraeder. "Alright. So what'd you want to talk about?"

"There's...a Host with...us now. What...the ******** hap...happened?" Internally, his sluggish mind was turning bright yellow at the possibilities of what Adela had said. He did, however, have a point that he was going to make.

Fortunately, Saieve wasn't in the room to begin with, he waiting just outside the door, not wanting to drool over Schraeder's vulnerable position.
"Please hurry." he whispered just loud enough for them to hear, "I might be on your side, but this Hunger isn't a picky eater..."
He closed the door to give Schraeder the privacy he had requested.

Adela started explaining the situation to Schraeder as quickly as she could. She told him of Saieve's excuse to come with the group (also leaving out the fact that she couldn't really outrun him in the condition she was in earlier). When it came to the actual fight, she explained the death of the scientists made the Adams look very suspicious. "I'm not sure what to believe. Dunno who's in the right or wrong here." She ran a hand through her hair. It was all really confusing.

Schraeder reached out and touched her hand with his. "I've been...having second thoughts...as well. Remember? In the...van? I'm not...sure we're on the right...side here. The Thief might be...corrupt and vicious, but...he's not sacrificing innocent...people for things they couldn't control. Not...usually, anyway. I think we should...look into this."
As they spoke, the door of the room opened and Schraeder hastily pulled his hand back, thinking it was Saieve. They were, however, greeted by a familiar face.

"Hello, Stetson," Host-Agent R said pleasantly. "I heard what happened. I personally apologize; the mission was supposed to be non-combat. I'm looking into the cause myself." He smiled slightly, though his eyes behind his glasses remained humorless.
"Listen, kid," he said, advancing slowly into the room. Schraeder grew pensive; there was no way to know what R had already heard. "I want to make this up to you. This whole...injury, thing. You know? Smooth out all the rough spots, show that we're your...friends." He regarded Schraeder coolly.
"What do you say? I've got an operation lined up at the base for you. We can implant some viral cells into a containment unit and have your arm grown back within a day - with some enhancements, if you want."
He placed a hand on Schraeder's leg, and the younger man froze. "What do you say." R stared at Schraeder without expression.

Just as all of Schraeder's body had been pain when he had lost his arm, now he was nothing but fear. Looking at the man in front of him was worse than any nightmares he had had as a child. This was a man who could kill the entire hospital, alone, in under two minutes - without batting an eyelash. Who would order men ten times stronger than Schraeder to their deaths without any remorse. This was a man to be feared no matter what.
So Schraeder did the only thing he could do.
"Y...yes," he stammered meekly. Adela was once again surprised to see Schraeder taken down from his usual composure.
Host-Agent R stood with a smile. "Good to hear it. We'll be back in a few to get you and your...friends out of here. We look forward to good things, Stetson." And he stalked out.
Schraeder was shivering when R left. He put out his hand absently and grabbed for Adela's like a child.

Adela remained quiet throughout the conversation between Schraeder and Agent R. Needless to say she was not happy. At all. She was half prepared to argue with the serious man, but he left before she could say anything.
Eh. There was still another way to stop this disaster from happening. She whipped her head and said, "You're not doing it." It wasn't a request - it was a full out demand. She did soften some to hold her hand out to Schraeder, but her voice lost none of its edge. "This isn't going to be a free surgery. You know they're going to want something. And what kind of viral thing are they planning? Don't those Hosts also have the same thing? So what if it doesn't work on you? Like HELL if they use you like that."
She was quite pissed. "We'll get you out of here by tonight. I refuse to let you go through with this."

"They'll be back in...a few minutes," Schraeder said, still in a subdued tone. "And this...might not leave me...the same." He looked at her and she couldn't identify what his eyes said. "Adela...listen, I - "
The door opened again and Saieve poked his head in. This time Schraeder didn't let go of Adela's hand. "Guys? There are a couple guys in suits here. And uhh, they want Schraeder. I wasn't about to stop the first guy, but if you want - "
"It's fine," Schraeder said. "Let...them in." So the door opened and the men came in to wheel Schraeder away. That left Sai and Adela to find Xu and get back to the base.

Adela frowned. She didn't know what Schraeder was about to say, and it bugged her. He'll tell me later. He HAD to tell her later. She didn't want to think about not ever getting to see him again.
After the men wheeled Schraeder away, she stared at Saieve with a slightly pained smile. "He'll be fine. Let's go find Xu and get you some food. Which ever one comes first." Both walked side by side to the lobby where they'd found Xu. "Okay, so now that we have him, we can go in the car and get you something to eat." She wasn't about to forget her promise to the Host.

"Please, let's go." Saieve insisted, "I'm starving, no matter how against it I am, I have to eat." He and the others got into the car, "Does anyone know where the nearest place that can supply us...me with raw meat is?"

Xu batted his eyes open as someone awoke him. Shocked, he scrambled up, following quietly behind the group, while trying to stifle a yawn. The usage of the Sigil had worn him out more than he had thought. He wasn;t paying much attention to what the others were talking about. In fact, he didn't even know that Agent R had stopped by. However, when they were at the hospital entrance, Xu heard Saieve mentioning he was hungry.
"Can't you eat animals or something? Do you have to eat people?" Then, Xu realized that he knew next to nothing about the Hosts, save for what the Agents had told him.

"That's what we're going for." Saieve explained, "We've eaten a deer before, and more recently a whale...don't ask. But those were both freshly killed, I'm not sure how just raw meat will work over... I'm just trying to avoid losing control."

Adela sighed. "Let's just drive around and find a grocery store. Then we'll check for meat and hope that it works."
The trio drove around for a while until they saw a grocery store. "Oh thank God, it wasn't far from the hospital." They went straight for the meat section. "So...you think this is gonna help?" She watched Saieve carefully for his reaction.
