Landon eventually sat down across from her and she sighed. "Erm.." She bit her bottom lip and replied a bit too quickly.
"See, I don't really remember. I had a bit too much to drink last night and this morning.. I was still asleep when he left."
Yeah, she had barely remembered to meet him at the pool.
Front desk.. gift..
Hmm.
That did seem to ring bell though.
"But its pretty possible that..it as them... but why?" She shook her head.
Slowly everything was piecing together. But not enough so, to figure it all out.
Silence.
Stephanie picked up her fork and poked around at the breakfast in front of her.
Jeesh. When was the last time she had a cooked breakfast? Usually it was an on-the-go bar or a bowl of ceral at most.
"Hm?"
Stephanie looked up at Landon and nearly dropped her fork. "Oh.. Uhm.. yeah it has.."
She casted her eyes away from him and back down at her food.
Mhm. This was awkward at all!

Move along, move along like I know you do.. James had just been coming up to and barely broke the surface- barely with any time to realize Katy hadn't- before he felt something at his foot again, and then she grabbed his ankle. Down he went again.
He came up sputtering yet more water, but laughing too as he spit out a stream, well, he hadn't expected to go down again. And she was already swimming away.
He swam after her, grabbing onto the side rather then trying anything again just yet.
James didn't think she had minded too much, since she had attacked him back, but she still didn't seem to happy.
"We might as well try and have a little fun if we're stuck up in here ya know" he said with a shrug and a little smirk. Weeelll, yeah. No sense moping around with nothing to think about but the jealousy they have for the others. ..And even when your hope is gone

Landon started to eat, but then paused, wait what?
He thought about what she said for a minute. That didn't sound right. But he refrained from saying anything right away. Just went back to eating as she went on after thinking for a moment it seemed.
Sooo, he tried dismissing the additional awkwardness he had created by asking the question he had been witing to ask, um, at the moment at least. He had countless others.
"So wait... you were drinking? Do you um, do that now? Or do you still get sick?" And why? Was the real question.
Well, unless she got over it....
Landon wasn't like a big big drinker, but he would occassionally, usually had fun, but it wasn't something he needed to have fun.
He'd scored some for a fun night with Stephanie once and man had that been a disaster. As far as he knew, she was never a drinker after that either.... but hey.... it had been years since then...

Stephanie took a bite of the waffle in front of her. But it didn't really taste very good. It was excellently cooked, but after throwing up twice the night before, her stomach was still upset.
Which was so pathetic. But again, why she didn't drink.
She set her fork back down and took a sip of the water that was set out for her.
"No, I still get really sick." She almost smiled at the memory. Yeah, Landon had held her hair back when she threw up! Stayed by her side all night too.
Unlike somebody..
"I haven't really drank since that uhm.. that one night.." She looked up at him, meeting his blue eyes with her own for a moment, then averting them away again.
Yeah. That night had been fun, until she got sick. Which wasn't too long after they had started drinking. Then the rest of the night, and most of the morning, was spent by the toilet.

It seemed Stephanie wasn't into her food much, but if she still got sick from drinking that made sense. Same as before... Then that was no surprise.
Maybe.. maybe he'd steal some of that waffle...
Landon looking at it, tempted.
After another moment of contemplating it, he moved his fork over slowly to her plate, locking eyes with Stephanie as he did so, and cut a piece off, slowly bringing it back to his plate with looking.
Then up, to his mouth, and he stuffed it in, barely blinking. Oh yeah, he was sooo sneaky.
After he chewed and awallowed, which he at least did without staring at her, he looked up again and finally did ask.
"So why were you drinking then anyway? Like, romantic wine or something...?" he sorta mumbled the last part. Although, that still wouldn't make much sense.**************************************** As soon as forever is through

Stephanie looked up at Landon, who was now locking eyes with her and reaching his fork over to her plate.
She watched as the silver cut into her waffle and he popped the piece into his mouth.
Stephanie could not help but laugh. Out loud. "Wow Landon. Do you know who took a bite of my waffle? Because two seconds ago.. it was there and now its gone!" She threw her hands up dramatically too.
Wow. Was that a glimpse of the old Steph? Could it be?
"Hm? Oh.. drinking.. right." She avoided his eyes once again. "Unless Margarita's are now romantic wines, no." She shrugged a bit.
Yeah, she was purposely avoiding the first question from him.

Landon tried desperately to keep a straight face, but his lip twitched, hold it, hold it! Don't laugh!
The fact that she actually laughed, did not help at all.
Ah and what she said.
"Oh really now? I have no idea, none, whatsoever" he replied tightly, as he tried to hold his voice, the laughter clear in it though, not too mention the shape of his mouth as he replied.
HA! He made it! No laughter! But when he would have, the feeling died down as she looked away shiftily and answered his other question.
"Margarita? You? Really?" ok he hadn't meant to make it sound so accusatory, but wow, really?
"Is everything ok?" he asked, the thought that something might be wrong, and that was why, jumping to the front of his mind. Like, oh! Was her kid alright? Or.... Were her and James alright...?

Stephanie cut the waffle in half and tossed it onto his plate, the syrup splattering a bit as it hit. "Funny." She sighed.
"Yeah. Margarita. Two to be exact." She looked over his face and bit her bottom lip. 'Is everything okay?' That was more than she expected.
Why should he care?
"Uhm. Is now..I guess.." Why was it that whenever she was around Landon she was so damned comfortable? Why was it that he could ask her if she was alright and she really wanted to spill her guts to him?
This wasn't right! They had ended such a long time ago. And sure, since they were dating each others friend or whatever they had silently agreed to be friends but this was nuts!
Friends for their benefit of not making anything awkward. Not friends that tell each others secrets..
"Just somethings last night.. thats all.." She trailed off, picking at her food again.

James did have a point. But still, seeing his reaction on trying to get to steph, and Landon's lack of reaction trying to get to her really hurt. But she can hopefully put that aside. "I know. I just can't help it...." She didn't want to get into a heart to heart conversation with James, cause she wouldn't be able to stand it.
Scrunching her nose slightly. Her head said get it over with now, and her heart said don't even think about it. "I've been wondering something for a while...." Oh great, now she had to follow up on her sentence even if she didn't really want to.
"Why did you leave me two days before graduation? I gave you my whole heart, and you just tossed it back into my face. I've tried giving what pieces I have to Landon, but it's not enough. You still have parts of my heart." Did she seriously just say all of that out loud?
Her eyes widened slightly and she looked away, time to go back under the water. She went past him and dove to the bottom. Maybe he can figure out why she was upset about this whole thing. Because Landon didn't have her whole heart, she was afraid what he did have wasn't enough for him, and that he want's something more blond in his life.
She would die her hair, if that helped anything. But it would be denying who she was. Kaitlyn was fond of her long brown locks. And her tanner skin, and brown eyes. Long legs, everything. Not that she was self centered, but it took a hell of a long time for her to think that way. Curling up on the bottom of the pool, she hoped that James didn't listen to anything she just said and left.

Landon and Stephanie don't even know what's going on, it's not their fault, the pricks running this place are doing this." He said, trying to reassure her... and himself too most likely.
Of course, he'd hope eventually they'd catch on, and maybe not play along, that would same them some trouble, but...
Well. Whatever happens happens. And that's what James was afraid of. But again, nothing to worry about YET.
Uh oh.
James heard that tone, the way Katy said that, please don't ask ab- damn.
He really didn't want to go there right now. But.... It was stupid, what he did. Really stupid...
She went back under the water and it was his chance to escape.
Instead, when she didn't come up right away, he dived under the water and pulled her up by the waist. Of course she would have come up in time for air, but it was the principle of the matter.
That spot was deeper, so he tread water, then swam them to the edge, though it was the deep end side.
He didn't say anything as he did this, but released her and put his arms up on the edges of the pool, looking straight ahead.
"I don't even really remember anymore. Was stupid thing to do..."
Yeah, incredibly stupid. But.... maybe it wasn't all bad? There was Stephanie. Even if they were having some problems lately...
"I regretted leaving you almost before I did it." Oh yeah, that made total sense. But he had been too proud to take it back, that he did remember.
Upon saying that, it was his turn now, to duck down under the water and push off from the wall, swimming back to the other side where the stairs were and getting out. where was a towel? He needed one if he didn't want to stand there dripping wet. At least the place was warm... ..And even when your hope is gone

She wasn't expecting an arm to come around her waist from behind and pull her up. She would have fought him on this matter. But she needed air anyways. She spit water when she came back up. Which was Jame's fault. Causing her to gasp underwater wasn't the best thing to make a person do.
She placed her arms on the edge of the pool when they got there. And avoided looking at him. But the last thing he said caught her attention. If he regretted doing it before it happen, why the ******** hell did he do it anyways!?
She didn't need to take this, and didn't want to. Kaitlyn thought about getting dressed and taking a nap. But she thought through the items of clothes that she had, and none of them were friend friendly. All were lover friendly. So that was out of the question. She didn't want to be in something seductive with James around. For all she cared she hated him, and Landon. She hated them both!
For the moment, she just took in another breath, and slowly went to the bottom of the pool from where she was at. It was surprising she was crying underneath the water, not in the sense that needed air, in the sense tears were coming out.

Landon had already eaten his egg, and most of the toast provided, and though he'd stolen a bite of her waffle on top of it, he was just short of delighted when she cut her waffle to share. On purpose this time. She hadn't known she'd be sharing before.
And well, he would have asked "Are you sure? You should eat more" except, after hearing the following, he knew she'd have little appetite.
Instead he smiled at he- uh, it, hungrily. He didn't even notice the syrup that splattered a little bit onto his chest, just below his left peck.
Nope, went right to cut it up with his knife and fork.
"Are you sure?" Landon asked now, a bit of a frown tugging at his lips. "You don't sound it." Or look it. Not to mention the drinking...
Ah, but then she gave him a little something, though nothing reassuring. He opened his mouth, about to ask, "What things?" but stopped himself. It was none of his business... Not anymore. He had no right to pry...
Yet, was burning with curiosity.
But instead, he looked down after a moment, and stuck one of the cut pieces into his mouth, starting to chew.**************************************** As soon as forever is through

Stephanie swallowed, really hard. God! This should not be so difficult.
He asked if she was sure, and she about spilled her guts right then and there. But instead she lowered her sunglasses and took a sip of the water infront of her.
"Mhm," Was what she managed in between the two gulps. Then her eyes travled back to him, over his chest. And she just barely saw the syrup on his chest.
Right below his pec... And ... right.. Oh..
She shook her head and sighed softly.
She had to get ahold of herself!!! This was nuts! It was Landon, her ex from like freaking high school.
Though, the dream she had had last night, after thinking about him so much lately.
Stephanie twirled a strand of blonde hair that had come lose around her finger, a habit she did when lying -- And had since forever ago. Then she replied, "Its uhm, just Hayley.." Okay. Kind of. But not really.
Soo, it wasn't a total lie! .. right?
Wait. He knew Hayley by name right? Probably. Someone had to have mentioned it when everyone thought it was his.. back then. But why would he care to remember?
Whatever.
"She's staying with my parents, and she's kinda sick. But uhm, it doesn't matter," And she muttered the last of it, "To you."
Yeah. His daughter being sick didn't matter to him, because he didn't know about it.

Landon was trying to pay attention to his food, but he still found himself watching her intently. And yeah, she still was not looking so hot. Well, no, she was hot as hell- erm but yeah, not uh looking so good, figuratively speaking.........
It took a moment before he as able to follow her eyes, at first about to blush again, as she was looking him over, right at his chest, but then he saw the syrup when looking down.
Landon scooped it up with his finger, which he stuck in his mouth without thinking, then back out quickly, picking up his fork again and looking slightly off to the side. Yeah ok, so that wasn't like, intentional flirting...
Still, his eyes drifted back over to Stephanie. He frowned again before she even spoke, watching her finger in her hair, rather then her face.
Took a moment to place Haley, but then he remembered. Yeah, her kid... right?
And her next sentence confirmed it.
Landon sighed though, and looked her in the eyes.
"Steph, you don't have to tell me everything, but don't lie to me either. Please."**************************************** As soon as forever is through

Stephanie had bitten her lip when his finger brushed the syrup off his body and went for his mouth.
She closed her eyes momentarily and then blushed again before picking at what was left on her plate with her fork. She couldn't believe it when he picked up on her habit.
Well, old habits die hard. And he remembered.
"Wait.. how did you know.. I was lying?" s**t. There she went with admitting it.
Of course, catching her off guard like that made her admit things. "Its just.." She started but stopped herself.
"It doesn't concern yo--" She shook her head. Okay, she couldn't lie agian. Not with her blushing and her fork now laying down again and her finger twisting back in her hair.
Dammit!
Why was this so complicated?
And dear God... what did she do to deserve such torture?
"I mean.. Its just.. forget it.." She shook her head and averted her eyes straight at the table, not looking at anything in particular.
