Teigra
((*chuckles* I got a couple Pae still free. wink ))

Down by the water, a pair of Fae stared out at the lake, each lost in their own thoughts. Finally, the teen female shook out of her mental reverie and crossed to the male sitting in the sand. "Papa?"

Cabel blinked a few times, shaking his head, then looking up at his adopted daughter. "Eudora? I'm sorry, was I daydreaming again?"

Smiling sadly, Eudora chuckled and took a seat in the sand next to Cabel. "Yeah, you were a million miles away again." She rested her head on his shoulder. "You know, we were supposed to be trying to figure out what's going on with the Isle." Honestly, she was practically twitching to be off to solve the mystery, despite her calm outer demeanor.

"Oh, that's right. Sorry again." Reaching out, Cabel took his staff in one hand, using it to climb to his feet before offering Eudora a hand. "Let's be off then. We're not likely to find much by sitting here and staring at the lake. Maybe someone else knows what this odd feeling is in the air..."

As Eudora climbed to her feet, a flash of movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. Was that...another Pae? Or two?

"Lizzie, look, other people!" Amapola waves at the others on the beach. "Hello!" she calls enthusiastically. "D'you know what's going on?"

Elizabeth puts her palm to her forehead. Her sister is so obnoxious sometimes. "Honestly, Amapola, could you be any less subtle?"

"Oh, probably," says Amapola brightly, still waving to the strangers.

((Sorry for the short post, I haven't developed much of a personality for either of them.))

((*chuckles* No worries. Maybe this will give you a chance to start doing so. wink ))

---

Eudora smiled and raised a hand to wave back enthusiastically at the approaching pair. Well, apparently they didn't know anything more, but still, new people were always fun!

Cabel's eyes followed his daughter's line of sight before the voice ever sounded out over the sands. He smiled a bit, shaking his head at himself. Ah, young ones...

"Sorry, afraid we don't yet, but we were about to see what we could find out. Maybe someone at the HQ might know something?"

Eudora shrugged, the mystery already tugging at her. "All I know is that things feel different. Like...the isle's changed, but I just can't pinpoint what."

Then she paused before tossing her braid over her shoulder. "I'm sorry! I completely forgot! I'm Eudora, and this is my daddy, Cabel." She smiled widely, reaching out to shake hands with the other girls.

---

I don't recall needing your approval. But the feeling is mutual.

Kane rolled his eyes at the display, his thoughts only for himself. Please, drama much? Dude was about as obnoxious as some of those Fae things...like the whiny ones. Only more prone to having a fit.

Faroth, meanwhile, was torn. His eyes darted from Rais to Kane, then to his hooves, then through the cycle again.

Finally, glancing down, the demon raised an eyebrow. "Don't look at me like that, kid. He's talking to you."

The faun child sighed, glancing down at his hands once more. "Then...if it's okay, I'd like to stay and look around some more. But...I'll come home later...?" Afterall, the Great Tree wasn't as far now as it once was. Technically, the faun could come and go from the isle if they chose, right? It wasn't as if there was no going home if he stayed for a while longer.

---

Saffron snorted, shooting Arvid a look. "That's right, smart mouth. I'll teach you some manners eventually. Respect your elders and..all that...junk..." He trailed off, unable to keep from snickering at himself. Since when had he turned into such an old-timer?

Eh, raising kids did that to ya', he supposed. Especially difficult children, like Devyn had been. But, that was another story...

As they neared the HQ, Saffron let out a low whistle. What a crowd! Half the isle had to be here right now, so odds were with them that they'd learn something new here.

Wait a minute...

"Hey! Mom!" he shouted over the general crowd, waving an arm in the air.

Normally, a shout like that would probably get a number of responses, but in this case, the target audience heard and responded. Blinking, Takeko gave Melek a kiss and set him on the ground to keep playing with Alaera and the strange toddler. Then, the angel stood, looking out over the crowd before her scanning eyes caught sight of her son.

"Saffron!" She grinned widely, waving back. It'd been some time since she'd seen her offspring and he was certainly a welcome sight. Good to know that he was safe from the events on the isle as well.

Melek was too preoccupied with the odd tot to worry about what had his mom's attention. "Pfft...I dun like tickles," he commented, crossing his arms and looking away. Granted...he actually did...but he didn't think that made him look very grown-up and he wanted to be the 'big kid' here. Still, he glanced to the side at the little tot, then reached up to scratch his head. "Err...alright, I guess..."

He reached out, tickling the little toddler, almost hesitantly at first, then grinning at the laughter that bubbled forth from the little one.

---

Devyn chuckled a bit, shaking his head again. "Nah, not poisonous. Probably would have been bad long before now if I was, but I'm not, I know for sure."

The fae had an odd way of speaking, but maybe that came from spending so much time alone. Still, was the concept of 'friendship' really as foreign as it seemed to be to her? If so...then that was sad. Even Devyn had had a couple of Pae to call friends in his life.

He blinked a bit at her next question, then shrugged. "I'm not sure. I've been smelling the salt since I woke up, but the sulfur smell is new. I didn't really smell much of that until I came this direction. There's a big mountain poking out of Dragnid now and there's some smoke coming out of it. Maybe it's from that?" He'd never seen a volcano before, so the word didn't come to mind immediately, and he knew so little about them anyway, at least in theory, that he'd not completely connected the sight and scent yet.

"If it bothers you, though, we could head away from it for a bit. The sulfur isn't so bad if you stay further away from Dragnid, which isn't a bad idea in itself anyway. The salt smell gets stronger elsewhere, but that's not as awful on the nose at least." He smiled as he extended the invitation. If they explored more of the isle, who knew what else they might discover afterall.

It did sound nice and romantic. He smiled and looked over at the girl who was swooning over the idea. "Let's go then." The beach was right behind the HQ, so he grabbed her hand and pulled her to the beach. He stopped and stared. "Wow-ee!"

***

Rais didn't really care what the other pae'il were saying about him. Yes, Rais, might be an 'a**', but he was so to do his job, at least that was how Rais saw it. He cared deeply for the faun and would never forget what had happened in his past life. Was it so hard to believe that angles and demons weren't like they are now?

"What you do is your will." He didn't want Faroth to come back if he didn't want to. Also, might be good to have the child watch over the toddlers and let Rais know how things were going. "I will be returning to Laisidhiel, if you need me my door is always open." He hoped that the faun children would come one day to see their heritage. Maybe other pae'il would be more open to history than this group.

Admittedly, Texas did want to learn more. If he was raising a faun child, he should do his best to know their heritage in case the young child was ever curious. That was why if he asked if fauns were ancient in the same way that the naiads were, but the man seemed awfully testy and distrustful of him. Asking for more information, he had concluded, probably wasn't the best of ideas at the moment. Instead, he would care for the child in his arms. "Have a good day, Rais," offered Texas, hoping to let the irritable chieftan leave on a good note.

Magnus didn't care one way or the other what Rais felt, and only rolled his eyes when Rais went to leave. Good riddance. They would probably get better information on the little grey thing than the pompous brown one if they wanted more information. The pompous brown one just seemed to like reversing their statements and then making grand accustions and cast doubt.

...But the drama Rais could cause with his behavior, combined with anyone who disproved of his ways, would be fun to watch. ...Never mind.

Now where was that Laisidhiel? Perhaps Criofan should locate it and visit it, as well as ask about the fauns' history, in a bigger attempt to get on and stay on the large faun's good side. Being the type who routinely got himself into sticky situations, any ally would only increase his lucky chances of escaping anything with his head. Now, if the man's door was always open, perhaps his door was also open to a seemingly curious fae?

The big things made sounds that sounded all low and not so fun, so he decided that they were all boring now and curled back into Texas' warmth happily. The toddler then tapped his hand on Texas' chest rhythmically, giggling when he realized that he was enjoying the sound his father's top half made when tapped.

"Hi!" says Amapola brightly. "I'm Amapola, and this is my sister Lizzie." She shakes the other girl's hand enthusiastically.

"Elizabeth, please," says Elizabeth, shooting a tired look at her sister. She smiles, though, and tries to be sociable.

"We should go ask then!" exclaims Amapola. She just loves solving mysteries. Then again, she's never had much of a mystery to solve.

Pastela had been to the beach once when she was a child, but that was back when the island had been free floating in the sky. She smiled softly as she remembered back to when her brother, Raziel, and her 'mother', Koorie, had taken her to the beach as a child. It had been a lot of fun back then.

"Amazing, isn't it....?" She watched as the waves, rich in blues and blue greens, crashed into the sand of the shore. "I wonder if reefs will be out there...."

"Yes, it really is." Woobie stared at the water and watched it rise and fall. "The lake was never this pretty." He said as he then turned to look at Patela, "I'm glad I'm here with a girl who is prettier than the site, so I can compare." That was an odd compliment, but Woobie wasn't very good at them.

Faroth blinked, never having been treated in such an adult manner before. His decision, huh? He nodded briefly, confirming that he'd be staying around here for a while. He'd probably return to the tree after a while, but considering he'd spent his entire life there thus far...he could use a little adventure.

Wonderful, looks like the kid was staying here. After a moment, Kane glanced down, an eyebrow raised. "So, you're sticking around. Gonna' cling to my leg the whole time?" He hid a smirk as the faun shook his head and scrambled a few feet away.

---

(( @ Mene -- Hee hee...you seen Elizabeth recently? >.> ))

Cabel nodded, smiling politely at the young ladies. "Well, it shouldn't be a far walk from here. Might as well travel together for the company."

Eudora giggled and returned the handshake equally enthusiastically. She'd spent far too much time with her daddy lately, and while she loved him, he wasn't the cheeriest company as of late. Not that she could blame him exactly...she just needed a more energetic crowd to spend time with.

The mystery of what was going on with the island was close enough to a secret to have peeked Eudora's interest and begun driving her crazy. So, she was eager to set off and get some answers. "Come on! We'll just take this path from the beach to the HQ! Not far at all!" Grinning, the fae reached out for the other girls' hands to drag them along with her.

Chuckling a bit and shaking his head, Cabel took his staff in hand and followed along behind the youngsters.

((Ok, I think I'll be taking out a few paes, well one now...Rais will make his journey home. Anyone else want to wrap up rps and then maybe start something new elsewhere?))

Rais nodded, "You as well." He said to the demon, Rais could be civil, but not when he was in protection-mode. He smiled at the faun-toddler and hoped this meeting didn't ruin a history lesson in the future.

Then Rais started his journey back to the tree. He didn't stay to hear any more comments. He didn't need to know what else they thought about him. His mind was more filled with what was going to happen now. How were the fauns going to do now that they were released on the Isle again? His thoughts were heavy, thinking of all possible outcomes as he made his way back to his home.

Pastela blinked, looking strangely at fist at Woobie, then, as the compliment set in, her eyes got wide and her cheeks turned a bright pink color. "I-is that so?" Not much could come out of her mouth, since she'd never been in a situation like this, but she could feel her heart was starting to beat a little faster. "An who would that girl be?" Quickly she started to look around, thinking it had to be someone other than herself.

Arvid was about to say something back to Saffron when the fellow caught glimpse of his mother, so he kept his mouth shut, just watching them with a plesant smile on his face, forgetting why he was there to begin with. He was just happy to chat with some Pae that could actually hold conversations, no offence to his sister or anything.

Nitidu clutched to Cutter's arm, shaking her head before using one to point to the HQ. There was no way she was going to be left alone. Arvid was too busy, but he deserved to chat with someone, as he hadn't since, well, before she came along.

At least the big things were smiling now, or at least one of them was. Vangelis offered a babyish smile back at Rais before turning back into Texas and continuing his rhythmic tapping, which was far more interesting than any of these other big things.

Texas watched the now more civil faun leader walk off into the bushes with a curious expression on his face. Before he could voice anything, though, Magnus cut in.

"Good riddance. What a royal a**!"

"I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason for his behavior, as rash as he was." Texas knit his brows. "He was probably just worried about the newborn fauns. It doesn't necessarily excuse his harsh behavior, but it puts his behavior in a better light, at least." The demonic was still curious to learn more about the faun yet, even if Rais had been a little harsh. To him directly, Rais hadn't really done much wrong. He just asked a couple of unnecessary, odd questions, and then declared afterwards that Vangelis would be fine in his care.

Thank goodness.

While tempted to follow him, since he went undiscovered last time, Criofan decided to keep himself put instead. Okay, so now there were two faun little ones staying near them. What were they supposed to do now?

((Hey, Mizu do you want to do another rp with Cutter and Nitidu after the event? Kira want to do another rp as well? Since the event is winding down. now.))

Woobie smiled and looked at her. "You of course." He then turned to look at the water again. Do you want to test the water?" He walked over and put a toe in the water. "Brrr."

***

"Ok, we'll stay here and watch." He watched paes read the note and then wander away, muct not have been too bad. He then heard someone say "on the ocean? Tropical paradise." Hmmm...

Cutter turned to the shy girl. "The gist of everyone's muttering sounds like the Isle is now in the ocean?" He wasn't quite sure about that. It didn't sound right to him.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:50 am

((Sure! That sounds like a great idea, Spooky!))

Pastela gently knelt down to feel the water with her finger tips. Looking up and over her shoulder at Woobie, she smiled. "It's not THAT co-" While her eyes were off of the ocean, a large wave came and crashed down on top of her, knocking her backwards and soaking her completely.

"O-o-o-o-ok-k-ay, now it's a l-l-l-l-little c-c-c-colder...." She said through chattering teeth as she shivered a little.

Nitidu hung her head and shook it. Curse her not being able to actually speak properly. It was so hard to convey what she was thinking with a limited voice. She coughed, trying to get a feeling on how her throat was feeling. Still a bit tight, but it was feeling good enough to get a word out.

"Both," she said, tugging at him towards the letter on the HQ that she had pointed at before. She didn't want to just guess what it said, she wanted to read it. She just didn't want to do it alone.
