Dalcon leans back against the headboard, waggling his fingers in front of his face. A memory had sparked his interest. Iri had spoken of controlling something, foxfire. He gazes at his fingertips.
"Foxfire!"
Nothing.
"Ignite!"
Nada.
"....Flame on?"
Nope.
" Don't tell me...Lumos?"
Zilch.

Iri, of course, is standing outside of Dalcon's door when this is occuring. She leans against the door frame. Both hands are still combing through her hair. As he talks, Iri raises an eyebrow and tilts her head. On the last two, she has to suppress giggles.
Finally, a wing elbow knocks on his door. "I take it you're awake?"

"Yeah," he calls to the door, ceasing the wiggling of his fingers. He's half-glad someone stopped him before he tried 'sizzle, my nizzle'.

Still suppressing laughter in her voice, Iri says through the door, "Get out here and we'll see if we can find some better way of igniting the foxfire other than 'lumos'."
Iri steps back from the door. She's pleasantly smiling and still running her hands through her hair.

Dalcon blushes a very deep red, wanting nothing more than to hide under his pillow.
"Err...kay.."
He slides off the bed and buckles on his sword, then steps out into the hallway.

Iri's smile turns into a lopsided grin. She steps forward and ruffles the boy's hair.
"I didn't mean to embarass you, kid! Really, it was a good attempt. But, if I remember right, Reeve never used incantations. I think it had a lot to do with emotions."

Still embarrassed, he sort of nuzzles the top of his head against her hand. On the point of asking more about foxfire, he decides that'll lead to more about that man, Reeve. "Umm," he says with a pause. "Shouldn't we focus on...y'know, kaze, first?"

Violet eyes soften. She knows what the kid's thinking. And she understands. Already he's doing better, but anything concerning his parentage is going to take time. She smiles once more before letting her hand come back to her side.
"Alright. Well, let's start with chakra. You might know it by a different name: Ki, mana, chi, internal energy, and others that I can't think of right off the bat. Have you ever experimented with it at all? Even in something like Martial Arts meditation or ki breathing exercises?"

"Umm.." he scratches his head. "All I ever really learned was how to use this," he says. "Mom taught me basic swordsmanship, and that's about all."

"Okay," Iri mutters to herself.
An idea comes to mind. She starts walking toward the stairs and motions for Dalcon to follow. Instead of stopping at the main floor, she continues outside. And she keeps walking until she's out of the worst of the influence of the Kaze Dojo's fierce winds. When she's satisfied with the location, Iri stops and waits for Dalcon to catch up.

Dalcon follows dutifully, growling as the wind buffets him around. He looks up to her. "Now what?"

Iri nods and walks up to Dalcon. "I just wanted to make sure there was plenty of room. Don't really want to practice Kaze with a bunch of stuff in the way."
She puts her hands on Dalcon's shoulders. Already her body is starting to faintly glow with chakra. He might notice that, as she emits chakra, the air begins to swirl around her as though a lazy twister is beginning to form with her as the eye.
"I'm going to do for you what I did for Jin when he first got here. It's the easiest way I can think of for teaching how chakra and Kaze techniques work. It won't hurt, but it will feel strange and maybe a little disorientating. Don't fight it, either. Just relax and go with it. Your body is going to dissolve into the air with mine and we're going to practice a few things, kay?"

Dalcon stares, wide-eyed, fighting the urge to run.

Iri blinks in response to his obvious fear. She backs off just a little, holding her hands up. Another consoling smile takes its place on her features.
"Whoa! It's not that big of a deal. I promise! Look here..."
The chakra finishes making its way through her body, clothes, and gear. There's a bright flash and a stirring of the air. Once the light is gone, Iri is nowhere to be found. Her energy is still there, but it seems to be all around Dalcon. After a few seconds, Iri partially materializes in front of the boy. She's transparent and her color is washed out. If he were to try, Dalcon could even put his hand through the avian.
One hand reaches back out to the boy. "See?" Her voice is different. It's the same, but sounds much airier (no pun intended), and quieter, too. "No harm done. Jin went through the same thing. Wanna give it a try? I won't let anything happen to you. You can trust me, I swear."

"We-don't-turn-into-air!" Dalcon gasps, thoroughly freaked out. His eyes start to green, deep yet bright.
