"Oooh, I like surprises." Purred Alek with a grin. Something told him that wherever they ended up at would be a surprise for both of them.
His fingers laced carefully with Ashierra's before he stopped and laughed. "Wait! You know, this is kinda backwards." His voice was full of warmth as he stared at Ashierra, "I mean, isn't it usually the male that leads the female around and tells her that type of stuff? Not to sound sexist or anything." He quickly added.
Still amusement stayed written all over his face. "Let's make it even. We'll stop the other if we see anything. If that's okay, miss?" Really he needed to be careful. It was becoming harder to act in this situation.

Ashierra frowned, though playfulness touched underneath. "Not sexist? Sounds a little like it is." She rolled her eyes. "If that makes you happy, we can do it that way." Did she really say that? "By the way, my name's Ashierra. And yours is Alek. Does any of that sound familiar?"

Alek grinned sheepishly, "Sorry 'bout that." Still he nodded happily, "That'd be great." His hand squeezed her hand in relief as he gazed at her. A thousand thoughts all tangled started to come apart into plans as he looked about them. Alek's eyes gleamed, so many possibilities!
"As-Ashierra?" He frowned before slowly nodding, "I guess it does. Alek is it? Not a bad name." Amusement made his tail twitch before he softly added, "Ashy sounds like a good nickname doesn't it?" It was hard to keep the laughter out of his sincere sounding question.

"At least you apologized for it." Ashierra said quietly. The normal Alek would probably have poked more fun when she objected to something... She almost missed it. Almost. A warm feeling made her tail sway a little. "So at least my name is somewhat fami- Ashy?" Suspicion thickened her voice, her eyes turning to give Alek a fixed look, peering closely at the male's face. "What makes you think that'd be good?"

Alek's heart nearly jumped out of his chest before his calm returned. He was walking on thin ice right now. Maybe he shouldn't have said that? 'I really, really need to learn to behave.' He mentally smacked himself before frowning at Ashierra.
"Is it bad?" Alek looked worried as he paused uncertainly, "I mean, I just thought it be cute. I mean, would you prefer Shierra or Shierry? See- so I thought Ashy was the best. Do you not like nicknames, Ashierra?"

As Alek spoke, Ashierra continued her hard look, though her insides wavered. Silly. He wouldn't be playing you. Then he second thought had been that maybe the nickname had sounded right, or familiar to him. But, apparently it was just a bit of Alek's personality, and not his memory. She sighed softly, shaking her head. "I've never been much for nicknames. Sometimes... they stick accidentally, whether I want them to or not. Though, if you must, I'd rather Ashy than those other two." She admitted reluctantly. She went back to looking at the store fronts and the stalls to distract herself.

"So you've had nicknames before?" Alek's gaze turned away, he hadn't thought about it- the question had just popped out. "I like Ashy, though Ashierra is lovely on its own." He hastily added.
Alek's gaze ran over the stalls, "There's actually a lot of stuff here." He murmured as his curiosity led him to a stall full of shinning jewelry and other knickknacks. The daggers were nice too, though his gaze kept running over the necklaces as he secretly looked between them and Ashierra.
"So what do you like, Ashierra? I mean, I can't really remember much about your tastes if I knew them, after all." He chuckled softly though his gaze stayed away from Ashierra's.

Ashierra shook her head again. "Not for a long time. Not since before my family died." She stated in a matter-of-fact voice. She had trained herself most in this; to keep the past exactly that- the past. "After that, it was mostly titles... Not much of a difference I suppose." Then she cocked an eyebrow before shrugging. "Either one is fine. I might as well get used to Ashy for when your brain finds its way back to your skull." Following him to the stall, as he still held her hand. As much as the hidden feminine side of her wanted to look, she gave the jewelry only a cursory glance before looking at the weapons. The fighter in her didn't give much value to fancy but useless items since she started traveling. "What are these?" She asked, nearly pointing at some mini star shaped blades. 'Nearly', because since her good hand was held by Alek, her injured hand was the one to point, though she quickly tucked it back to her side, and carried Alek's hand with her good one to point.

"Ah." Alek blinked and shook his head, "I'm sorry, Ashierra...I had no idea." His fingers rubbed against her wrist before releasing her hand. "I better give you freedom." He whispered with a small smile as he looked over the stars that she had pointed out.
Alek blinked, "Oh? Those...umm..." He frowned and shrugged, "You're asking Mr.Know Nothing remember?" Such an oddly shaped weapon, yet he had the name of it on the tip of his tongue.
"But the shop owner should know." He added softly before turning away to hide the conflicted feelings that flashed in his eyes.
His chest hurt. Was that sympathy or pain for her? Alek closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. It was odd really. How had he gotten this close to her? To the point of feeling for her? A twisted smile formed on his face at the irony. His family was alive, but he wished them dead...yet he was sure that Ashierra loved hers. Or maybe not. He frowned realizing that he really didn't know much about her. 'Not like she knows much about me.' He noted silently as his fingers ran down a dagger handle.

Ashierra stuck out her chin stubbornly. "Don't start feeling sorry for me now. It doesn't make a difference from when you didn't know." The last thing she wanted to to feel like Alek was pitying her. She didn't want anyone to pity her. Least of all Alek. She blew out a breath before nodding, flexing her now empty hand. "Right, it was worth a shot though. I can just ask the owner." Her eyes looked around. "Wherever he is." She looked around for a bell or something to get attention, not noticing Alek's dilemma.

Alek frowned but nodded, "I won't then." His reply was stiff as he looked around too. Where was the owner? Alek walked the length of the stall looking before an idea came to him. He knew how owners could be about this type of thing.
A chuckle came from his lips, "Ashierra. I've got it!" Openly and slowly to make sure that even someone down the marketplace might notice him, Alek took one of the star shaped weapons and started walking away. No matter what, one thing about marketplaces didn't change. Or so he hoped- whatever, he would find out soon enough if the owner was careless or not.
He whistled loudly as he played around with the weapon. It wasn't more than a couple of steps from the stall later that what he presumed to be an angry owner came out. "Hey!"
Alek grinned as he turned around. 'Success.'

"Good." Ashierra leaned around, searching for the owner still when Alek called out. She looked over, thinking Alek had remembered the name of the weapon. When he started walking away with said weapon, her eyes widened. "Alek! What are you-" An angry yell drowned her out and her hand smacked across her eyes as someone ran past her. "Wait! He doesn't know any better!"

Alek smirked before waving politely to the owner. "Oh, hello!" His voice was barely a purr as he walked over to the enraged taur. Shouting and muted conversation followed as the owner found himself pulled into a careful conversation.
Still a punch pounded against Alek's shoulder before the owner took his weapons and headed towards Ashierra. "Guess I deserved that." He commented rubbing the sore spot.
Alek grinned happily in the background as the owner finished explaining the star shaped weapons to Ashierra. Slowly he bounced back over with a silly grin, "Jeez, the guy acts like I tried to steal something." He joked softly as the owner stared at them from behind his stall. "So are you still interested in them?" He motioned towards the stars laid on display.

Ashierra remained back once the owner and the male had connected, looking around with a flush on her cheeks. She took another step forward when Alek received a punch, but the owner turned toward her and she stopped, watching hesitantly as he got closer. Surprised by the sudden description of the weapons, she could only listen silently to the gruff owner, giving Alek an irritated look when he returned. "What'd you do that for? Trying to get yourself in- What?" She looked back at the stars, confused again. "I don't even know how to use them..." She said slowly.

"Trying to get an owner." Alek muttered being grinning. "I think I know how to use them, now that me and the owner have talked." He chuckled as he innocently smiled at the owner before looking back to Ashierra.
"I can teach you. I mean-we could learn together." His eyes gleamed, "If the owner is okay with me using the targets that are set up right out back."
The owner inhaled, but knew that no matter how annoying the cattaur could be he was a potential customer. "Go ahead. But I bloody swear-"
"I know, I know. We'll stay in sight." Alek held up his hands before starting for the targets, "Grab several of those stars, Ashierra."
