Shisei reminded Sukotto of himself in many ways. The reason that he had never set foot inside of the academy was because he was too impatient to train things that he deemed unnecessary. While Shisei would most likely always at least act like he never heeded the Uchiha's words, Sukotto decided to give it a shot anyway. "When training under me, you will never be wasting your time, Shisei; I'll only train you in areas that you really do need. For now, this training is what you need. Try to think of objects that your opponent may have neglected to notice." With that said, Sukotto tightened his abdominal muscles and continued to do inverted sit-ups with the aid of the tree branch. It would take quite a bit for the chuunin to get the workout that he had hoped for, so he paced himself for a long set of repetitions. After setting himself on a steady speed, he began to think about what had been in his mind before, the strategies that his team would need if they were to face various kinds of opponents. He had already considered the possibility of fighting an opponent who was more powerful than himself, and in the worst case scenario, the opponent would be too tough to beat, so he needed a plan to counter that situation.

Normally, Sukotto had trouble when attempting to both think deeply about various issues and train at the same time, especially when doing training that was of a pure physical nature, like his workout; he hoped that his progress would continue smoothly. To combat the worst case scenario of facing an opponent who was too difficult for the team to take down, especially when working together, Sukotto figured that he would merely do his best to distract and hold off the enemy while the team escaped. This would prove to be a difficult task, as the opponent would have to be quite powerful to be able to take on four capable shinobi, but the Uchiha would merely have to do his very best to pull it off. In reality, the chances of them running into a shinobi like this were quite slim, and even if they did, it is likely that the strong enemy wouldn't even bother to waste their time worrying about Sukotto and his team. It would be a pointless waste of chakra and time. With that in mind, Sukotto felt a little more confident about setting off into the unknown. After deciding what do do in the unlikely case of a single powerful enemy, and even considering the even slimmer chance of his worst case scenario, the chuunin decided to consider the more likely case of running into a large group of weak opponents, bandits for instance.

If the team were to run into one regular bandit, they would probably have no trouble dispatching them, as the thief wouldn't have had any training nearly comparable to that of any single one of the shinobi on Sukotto's team. Even if the team were to be faced against a number of bandits that was double their own number, Sukotto figured that the squad would have no trouble in taking them all out. However, the Uchiha had read about some gangs who traveled in groups whose numbers were very, very large. While it would probably be easy to avoid detection in this case, Sukotto still wanted to prepare his squad in case they ever became surrounded, unable to retreat. It wasn't as though the large mass of bandits would know much about teamwork, so Sukotto wasn't worried about how his squad would match up against them in those terms, but his squad didn't have an infinite supply of chakra, so if they happened to exhaust that supply before all of the bandits were dispatched, then they would be finished, as they'd be too tired to continue to dodge and attack the enemies. Sukotto figured that the most obvious solution to this was training the squad in various skills that didn't require too much chakra, so that they would be able to conserve their energy if they were presented with a situation that required them to do so.

Once Sukotto decided how to prepare the squad to handle an opponent whose sheer number outmatched their own, he figured that it was time to consider the last difficult situation that he could think of: Facing an enemy shinobi squad. This would most likely prove to be the toughest situation of all, as there would be a group of opponents whose abilities weren't immediately apparent. There was always a chance that one or more of them could have a nasty technique that could dominate their own, and that was a difficult thing to prepare for because it was so unpredictable. There was a chance that there would be few shinobi on the team whose power exceeded the squad's, and Sukotto wouldn't be able to fend off a number of stronger opponents, since fending off one would be potentially impossible on its own. After considering this, Sukotto knew the single element that would allow his team to come out on top: Their skill to work together. Many teams failed to do this, often relying on individual strength to come out on top, but Sukotto's team would be much different. His team would be able to eliminate many shinobi in only a few concentrated strikes, and that would definitely work to aid them in coming out on top when involved in tricky situations like facing an enemy squad.

This last scenario was the main reason why the Uchiha was going to do his best to get his team to work together in an effective way. He could train them to make them all more individually powerful, but when it really came down to it, their teamwork was what would allow them to take down the powerful shinobi and do well in battle against other competent squads of ninja. The Uchiha would do his best to mix the teamwork exercises up as much as he could, as he didn't want the squad to get bored with anything, else their training speed would deteriorate. In addition, he would probably help the three of them learn new jutsu as quickly as he could, so that they would become more powerful individually and as a team. Also, in his experience, learning jutsu was one of the most rewarding aspects of training, as it truly made it feel as though one had accomplished something. By teaching his squad jutsu, Sukotto figured that he'd be able to hold their interest a little better, which, in his opinion, was one of the most important parts about being a squad leader. The Uchiha breathed out a heavy sigh as he used his stomach muscles to pull his shoulders to his knees before allowing himself to sink back into his inverted position again. The thought of helping his team in any way motivated the Uchiha to work harder and become stronger himself as well.

[Three 9's in a row. Awesome.]

The Orochi merely scoffed at the male’s words. Funny how everyone was always trying to tell him what Shisei needed. He needed to be a team player. He needed to be patient. Yet none of those were getting him anywhere. His face never bothered to turn to the Uchiha. His brain just accepted his words and glanced around from his prone position. Certain rocks and stones were always available depending on the terrain. Terrain such as the cliffs would not arouse the exact location if the youth used rocks. There were also the few trees around. Shisei remembered that some shinobi would use different parts of a tree to relocate. In wooded area that would be perfect. Although on the cliffs that would also be acceptable to use. Using the hard skin of the tree could also harm the opponent if timed correctly. If it is a physical attack then they would hurt themselves from lashing the piece of forest used. Perhaps even bits of bark and splinter could flick into their face, blinding them slightly.

Sukotto continued to do his inverted sit-ups while hanging his legs from the tree branch and thinking about various strategies at the same time. He figured that Serena had had enough of a break and was probably getting pretty bored just sitting around, so he decided to cook something up for her to do. "Serena, if you're rested well enough, how about you train yourself by finding that staff of yours that our delightful Orochi squad mate borrowed for his training? It was lying on the ground near you, but it has seemed to have rolled away. I don't think it should be too far from where we were training." After giving the girl something to do, Sukotto proceeded to think about what he wanted to plan out for the mission while exercising. On most of his own missions, the Uchiha had had an item or two that had helped him out greatly. Whether it be a soldier pill or something a little more subtle like a smoke bomb, Sukotto felt as though having the proper equipment to back oneself up was vital in turning the tides in a battle that happened to be going poorly for the shinobi involved. He wasn't exactly sure what each of his squad mates had brought with them, but he figured that they would probably not have accumulated too many items in their travels.

Shisei once again scoffed at the comment that Sukotto had made to Serena. Was the teen trying to be funny? Or sarcastic? Or both? It didn’t matter much. As the violet head laid in the dirt he wondered how much jutsu sly smile had learned? She was part of the class before his which made many questions about the kunoichi. For one why was she a dead last of her class and why did she not graduate on time? The other question was what happened to the rest of her class? Shisei only knew of the boy in white that also seemed to be in her class. That person was also nameless in the serpent youth’s memory and remained only a faint image. Like a reflection distorted greatly by the ripples of a pond. Did the rest of them die during the Meho war or were they dead long ago? Maybe they were some quiet on the island? Still that did not explain her current situation. If she was one of the weakest of her generation, how did that compare to Shisei’s generation? Well the generation that went forward without him. He couldn't count himself to be part of a class that has gotten a two year gap over him. What a vexing thought. “Yes, Serena… it should be no problem for someone of your caliber to find the staff. You are the senior of the group after all.” the serpent youth stated with a slight bit of cutting spite.

Shisei’s nose wiggled and the boy let out a small sneeze. Was it because of the dust on the ground or was someone thinking about him? That is what his sister had told him a long time ago. That if you unexpectedly sneeze it meant someone had you in mind. That would remain a mystery for now in the snake shinobi’s mind. For now his golden orbs glanced around to see what else could be used to replace his skeleton with that would not bring up suspicion. As pleased as the Orochi was with converting the weapons in his place (in his mind he thought it was innovative in that type of situation and cool), the Uchiha was right. A shinobi would be able to figure out such things as location if something unnatural is displaced that is not usually within the environment. Trees and wooden blocks from the tall forestry made good examples because in a wooded area, it could from anywhere. As the serpentine pupils stared into the sky, his head pivoting to the other side away from the cliff view; he could see the large trees. Specifically the one where the bird’s nest lay. Perhaps another good thing to displace would be a large amount of leaves. In a battle in an area such as the forest of sorrows or the bamboo thicket, where leaves adorned the entire area like a closely fit dress how could one ever figure out where someone is by scanning the area? Especially in the heat of battle if one could make the entire area flutter with leaves. That it would be nearly impossible for the enemy to find him in that situation.

Serena blinked a couple of times before coming back into reality. Oh my, it seems that she might have zoned out for quite a good bit. The girl thought back to what had happened...well, Sukotto put her on a break and then the next thing she knew, she was standing by the cliffside, got her staff taken away from her by a sly little boy, she held in her annoyance for a while, calmed down, and began to think. Eventually, she must have drifted off into her subconscious, for when she came back to reality, her staff was nowhere to be seen, Senritsu had disappeared and...

Well, that really didn't matter. Serena was busy trying to find her staff, as Sukotto had suggested. It would be quite terrible if she lost it..."Oh you're too kind, Shisei. You need to give yourself some merit, as well." She grinned at him, her eyes signifying a slight hint of falsity. But anyways, back to the staff. How had it rolled off anyways? If anything at all, it should be located near the right, where it had been angled when it landed. Serena found herself spying one side of the cliff where it had most likely gone off to.

The staff couldn't not have rolled off to far. It was rather lightweight, after all. Serena felt for the holder with her left hand. Good..it had not broken when that serpent decided to yank her weapon out. Sometimes she wondered whether this boy was purposely asking to get smacked in the face.

Serena came to a large pile of rocks before her and she scanned it closely. Could her staff have rolled off somewhere underneath it? It was very possible...but unlikely at the same time. The staff shouldn't have rolled that far out towards the edge of the cliffs. It seemed a bit too jagged for the weapon to make it all the way there. But then, there was always the chance that it really was there. Maybe she should just check to make sure. All the genin asked for was that her staff had not fallen into the seas below...

Serena took in a deep breath as she looked out across the sea. It was a beautiful sight--the blue of the ocean was so calm, yet thrilling at the same time. Everything smelled so...fresh. She should come here more often. It was a nice place to just sit and contemplate on different matters. The ocean took a much different feel from the lagoon waters. While they were both quite relaxing, being on the cliffs and looking out at the ocean--it just felt more free!

After taking a minute to enjoy the view, Serena hurried back to looking for delicate weapon. It did not take too long for her to notice a long yellow object with black tips wedged in between jagged little rocks located slightly to her right. "Ah..there it is!" The genin carefully made her way across the slippery and troublesome landscape and picked up her brightly colored staff. She dusted it off and twirled it once, smiling, and then walked back to where she had been standing when she originally zoned out. "Well lookee here, it didn't take that long for me to find it! It actually hadn't gone off too far away~" Serena eyed Shisei victoriously and gave her weapon another twirl before carefully placing it back into it's holder where it belonged.

It seemed as though Serena had found her staff quite quickly, which proved that she was skilled enough at detecting hidden things. This was a relief to Sukotto, as this was a skill that tended to be overlooked among shinobi who didn't have a kekkai genkai which helped them with it. Usually, they merely relied on a squad mate who had focused on training this skill, and Sukotto felt that this would hurt the team as a whole. In his mind, most things like finding a hidden enemy or working against a genjutsu should have been done working together, instead of vesting all hope in a single shinobi. Sukotto would work hard to make sure that this wouldn't happen in his squad. After taking a moment to think of what he wanted Serena to work on, Sukotto spoke to the girl. "Well done, Serena, I'm glad that you started looking in the simple spots instead of assuming that the staff had rolled somewhere hard to reach." The Raiken's staff seemed to have some special properties tied into it. Sukotto couldn't have been sure of these, as he was unfamiliar with the weapon, but he figured that Serena knew at least a little bit about it. "For your next exercise, I want you to think of ways to improve your skill with that staff. You may try to think up special training to help, or perhaps ways to combine your chakra with the staff to make your attacks more effective. If you do think of something, let me know what it is when you have finished. If not, then don't worry, we shall put our heads together and think something up." With that said, Sukotto continued his own workout, thinking up what he wanted Shisei to do after he finished his training. "Shisei, you had the right idea when picking a high vantage point with your Body Replacement technique, but try to think about what you can find in the air that is also on the ground. This way, the enemy definitely won't expect you coming from above."

Once the Uchiha had set Serena up with some more training and helped Shisei with his, he allowed himself to consider some more strategy for the squad. He liked the idea of Serena using a staff and Shisei using his tessen, but unfortunately, Senritsu hadn't happened to acquire a weapon herself. Sukotto knew that the girl had done a little weapon research on her own and took quite a bit of interest in using a bow as opposed to a close-ranged weapon. In all honesty, a ranged weapon suited her much better, as she was the stealthy kind of shinobi. It was true that these sneaky type could make efficient use of a small close-ranged weapon, but if they were assigned a target couldn't manage to get close to them for some reason, then they would be forced to reveal their position in order to complete the objective, which was especially dangerous for that kind of ninja, since they vested so much of their training into hiding, and it was their ultimate defense. With a bow, Senritsu could take down a target from afar and at least somewhat out of harm's way. In addition, the bow was stronger than many weapons that required similar proficiency, and it wouldn't take her long to become quite lethal with it. Sukotto had fought against a bow-user in the chuunin exams, and it had effectively put him in his place, as it had been hard to doge, and had hurt him quite a bit.

"Ah, yes, I'll get to it!" Serena smiled back at Sukotto, rather eager to coming up with new uses for her staff. She knew some things about her weapon, but never put her mind to incorporating any kind of technique or special skill with it. With Sukotto's help, maybe the girl could come up with something interesting and useful to fighting or defense.

"Now, let's see..." The Raiken looked at the long yellow object in her hand and turned it a couple of times. Yes, the Raiken staff was obviously a very light object..but only because it was completely hollow on the inside. It was made out of a highly conductive and heavy metal that corresponded well with her element affinity--lightning. Chakra would be a big help in any kind of attack. Serena new how the basic process of doing so worked..she never really tried it though. It would be a good learning experience to attempt doing so one day, though. Maybe she could get some help in figuring out how to incorporate the use of lightning into some attacks as well. The staff would make use as a conductor to catch lightning more easily...
