We fear what we cannot understand yet we embrace love... Bastien had little fear of a man roaring like a beast. It was still the same man, was it not? Just a man degrading himself to a beast. It was a vertical strike, so Bastien moved to the side. ...Thus a contradiction against which no one can argue

(sweet)  Lina watched, her eyes widening when she saw Miraldae jump as if to split Bastian apart. She knew he wasnt going to go easy. He was going to force the potential Bastian possessed to show through. If not then Bastian might just be killed. She sighed. Her approach was slow and calm, the appoach of a woman, and his was forced and fast, just like a man. She sighed and leaned back, watching them.

 Miraldae's sheath whistled through the air as it passed by Bastien. The sheath hit the snow so hard that it caused the white powder to fly several feet above their heads. In the next instant, however, he had shifted and was spinning with surprising speed, the sheath headed sideways at Bastien's head. The entire time Miraldae's cold eyes never left Bastien's.

We fear what we cannot understand yet we embrace love... Bastien barely reacted fast enough. He attempted a dodge. He succeeded, but was unable to keep his balance and fell into the snow. "Fast for a human..." He muttered. If Miraldae swung as fast as he had just swung again, Bastien was screwed. The blade was by his side and he wouldn't have time to raise it. ...Thus a contradiction against which no one can argue

Lina smiled. "You can do it Bastien! Use his momentum against him! Turn the force of the blow around on your opponent! Reversal is the key!" She yelled, knowing it was easier said then done.

Miraldae twisted his wrist in such a way that he flipped his sheath and almost instantly translated all of his sideways motion into a downward strike aimed direclty for Bastien's head. He roared again as the sheath plummeted even faster then his previous strike at the elf's head, stopping just as it touched the skin on his forehead. "Three strikes." Miraldae said, holding his current stance for a moment before standing up straight and moving the sheath away from Bastien's forehead, his eyes softening once again. "It took three strikes for me to kill you. It wasn't because of my speed. It wasn't because I'm a better fighter. It was because of the raw ferocity of my attacks. Even if you may not have felt it, your body was reacting purely in fear, fear that would you die. And I was only using my sheath. On the battlefield you will face opponents that may shake you to your very core, and that doesn't matter. What does matter is that you must be in control of your body at all times. Even if you fear to your very soul the man before you, you have to fight like you don't." He reattached his sheath to his belt and reached out his hand to help Bastien up.

We fear what we cannot understand yet we embrace love... Bastien took the man's hand and pulled himself up. "How am I supposed to not react to fear I don't notice in the first place?" Bastien asked, his voice slightly colder than he had meant it to be. THe elf hadn't thought he had felt any fear, and now this man was telling him to stop acting in fear?

Lina sighed. "Fear controls alot in battle but i dont think Bastien was fearing you. I think he is just tired from his battle with me and our training session. We all need rest." With that she lay back and closed her eyes, the small bell around her bell jingling as she shuffled, and she was soon asleep.

"But you did notice it. I could see it. As you were lying there on the ground you were thinking to yourself 'I'm screwed', weren't you? And you said aloud that I was 'fast for a human', when the truth is I wasn't moving any faster then you are capable of." Miralade asked as he retrieved his sword from where he had stuck it in the snow and slid it back into its sheath. "Don't worry too much about it though. Neither of us expect you to become an expert fighter overnight. I just wanted you to see the kind of things we will eventually work on. For now I think Lina will agree with me that we should work on refining the basics and work up from there."
((Alright, goodnight. I'm almost done repairing my pants, so I'll probably be going to sleep too.))

Bastien had to agree, but that didn't mean he was going to admit it. "HUmans don't normally move as fast as elves. It threw me off guard. I suppose I need to be ready for anything." Bastien replied coldly. His blade faded- He didn't want to spend much more mana, he was almost out from all he had done today. He than walked over near Lina and cleared some snow in a circle. He reached in his backpack and set up a lean-to of wood, lighting with some of his last mana. Once that was done he laid down and fell asleep next to the flame. ...Thus a contradiction against which no one can argue

((I was also watching TV at the time too, lol. My roommate's asleep now though, so I can't really do anything.
Btw, I'm not trying to dictate how your character is supposed to feel, in case it's coming off like that. That's just Miraldae being Miraldae.))
"Well you did good anyway. Probably better then I would have done if it were my first time fighting." Miraldae said with small laugh. That was assuming that Miraldae was taught normally, of course. The snow crunched under his boots as he walked a small distance away from the fire into the cold. Miraldae had learned how to fight out of neccessity, not because he wanted to. In fact he actually didn't want to fight, but he had to fight to live. He could still remember that day in the desert all those years ago when his life had completly changed. The cursed weapon at his side had looked so unassuming. The sheath was a simple black, slightly beat up sheath, with no ornaments or other distinguising features. The sword itself was just a simple black katana. How was he supposed to know that it would take him over and make him murder his parents? Miraldae sat down with a sigh and slowly fell asleep without the comfort of the fire.

BAstien continued to sleep, body completely relaxed. His body was regenerating mana while he slept. He didn't snore, but he did take long, deep breaths as he slept. ...Thus a contradiction against which no one can argue

Miraldae awoke a while later to the sound of Kasofi vibrating in its sheath. "You need to warm yourself up. You're about to get hypothermia." the sword warned as it stopped its rattling. Miraldae yawned and stood up with a groan, his frozen muscles protesting his every move.
"Well that's what I get for sleeping in snow." he responded as he drew his sword and closed his eyes. With his eyes closed, he began to move as if fighting invisble opponents. His sword gleamed as if danced gracefully through the air, every move seeming to be connected to the next one. With every strike Miraldae quickly exhaled all his breath with a sharp hissing noise. He could feel his muscles warming up slowly as he danced around the field of snow, cutting down invisible enemies.

His mana had reached max again and so the pendant would no longer allow him to sleep. He warmed his hands by the fire and let out another yawn. it had been a while since he had been so cold. He heard Miraldae moving in the distance, but decided if the mercenary wanted his attention, he'd speak to him. ...Thus a contradiction against which no one can argue
