"Meditation like where you think really hard?" Rhea asked brightly. "Or do I have to do something special, like Toshiro is doing?"
She looked over at the boy, her eyes filled with eager curiosity.

"Toshiro is already meditating because he's impatient, and knows it, actually Miyu could start too, but she would rather wait."
Miyu was just like that, she didn't like to leave anyone out even though she could have easily just started as usual. Lin probably had forced herself out of bed sooner to do hers.
"It is thinking..." she agreed, "But it is also not thinking, meditation is to help you clear your mind, not have so many thoughts clutter up your mind so you can notice things you wouldn't normally. Such as magic within you and around it, it also helps in controlling magic because at times magic is controlled by emotions, without grounding it... having control it can break out when we're really excited or scared or angry."

Rhea turned her eyes back to Kara and nodded seriously, though her eyes were still excited. "So I have to clear my mind," she murmured. "Stop thinking about everything ..."
She tried to think through how to do this.
"So ... I should close my eyes, I think," she murmured, "so that I don't get distracted by things ... and then what?"
And she bowed her head and closed her eyes, waiting for further instruction.

"I'll walk you through the breathing excerise, it'll make clearing your mind easier," Kara replied shifting herself into a better position so she could walk Rhea through it.
So she did, getting Rhea to breath in... count to three and then breath out and count to three again. Creating a steady pattern, keeping a careful eye on the little girl so she could softly fade her voice out to let it become a natural act. She wanted Rhea to be as much in a relax state as possible.

Rhea listened carefully to Kara's words, doing exactly as she was told, and her breathing became so relaxed and so natural that she hardly noticed when Kara stopped coaching her. She could almost feel her mind emptying - though her excitement at finally learning more about her magic was making things a bit difficult.

Kara opened her mouth to speak again, softly, a whisper knowing Rhea would still hear (thank goodness for elvish hearing).
"Now... imagine yourself searching within your core for your magic, imagine it as a feeling... you will know it when it happens. It is deep within you, it spreads out like river from its source filling you, body, every part of you and even off your skin."

Rhea's breathing was slow and rhythmic, and seemingly on her own her mind began to flow just as the soft whisper was guiding her. She had felt this once before ... the first time her wings had appeared ...
She felt the same cool flush all over her body, like goosebumps spreading over her skin, tingling and tickling. She could feel it in her veins, through her mind, through every part of her being ... beyond feeling it, she could feel it, smell it, taste it ...
Kara's voice became distant, almost as if through a mist, as Rhea lost herself to the magic that was more than a part of her: it was her.

"Rhea," Kara's own breathing had slowed, she could almost feel a sort of tingling sensation over her, "I want you to take that feeling and pull it into yourself. As if it was something to contain... as if you are shoving it into a small container."
She was worried that Rhea was too far deep to sense other magicks around her.. for that matter she wanted to snap Rhea out of it.

Kara's words registered in Rhea's mind, but hearing them through the fog it took her several long moments and a large effort to try to obey. She closed her fists tightly, trying to draw her magic back inside of herself - but it was a bitter fight. Having been released, it didn't want to return to her control. Instead, it seemed as though it wanted to consume her ...
Wings burst from her back, spread wide and stretching nearly from wall to wall, and the floor around her began to sprout tender grass and spring blossoms. Even the air was affected, and began to smell like the sky before a light spring rain.

"Eep!"
Kara had not expected that and wished she had the foresight to seal the room. The young angel leaped forward placing one hand on each of Rhea's shoulders.
"Rhea," Kara took a deep breath her own hands glowing, "Wake Up."
She could feel it, it was over powering, over reaching and it was actually making Kara quite dizzy.
Toshiro's eyes snapped open at the sudden influx of energy, he felt... he felt like he just got a good dose of pure caffeine at the moment. That was more magic than he had absorbed in... ever. So much that it felt it was over powerful Miyu's magic.
In fact Miyu, who's eyes also opened in shock felt more energy rush back to her, because Toshiro's body didn't need it at the moment. One never realized how much she had in reserves until she no longer was supporting Toshiro.
"Rhea...." Kara murmured practicing what she preached and let her own magic in, trying spirit to spirit calling Rhea back, helping her.... trying to push back this energy.

Rhea was feeling better than she had felt in a long time - such a rush of pleasure, of power ...
But then she felt it being controlled by an outer force, slowly fading away ...
She opened her eyes, her trance-like state suddenly dissipating, and looked around. Her eyes were glowing brightly, emitting a powerful light that allowed her to see more clearly than ever before. She looked down at her hands as she felt a draining feeling flowing out of them, then looked at Kara in surprise.
"What happened?" she asked quietly, fearing she had done something wrong.

"Lost control," Kara croaked for a moment before sitting back on her butt.
She had to clear her head, that was more magic than she would like to deal with on a regular basis. There had always been talk about how magic could control the user, but that was far to the extreme.
She eyed the floor and wonder if it was possible to repair that....
"I'll say," Toshiro murmured, "That's a rush, I don't think I can sleep for a while."
He scratched the back of his head, for this first time in his life, he could have probably cast a spell if he wanted, not that he knew any spells in which he could cast which was just as well.

Rhea followed Kara's gaze and looked at the floor, and her face turned a light shade of red.
"Mama's going to be very angry with me," she murmured, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. Her hand brushed against the elbow of one wing, and her glowing eyes grew wide. "Oh, no ... Mama's going to be very very angry with me!"
She closed her eyes and tried to make her wings go away, but they refused to go anywhere. Her efforts were so intense that more flowers began to grow in the floor around her, and the moment she noticed, she stopped trying to do anything at all. Her chin was trembling, and she felt as though she was going to burst into tears.

"Shhh...." Kara murmured as she leaned forward again and pulled Rhea into a hug, "It's okay, it was an accident and not your fault. We should have taken the lessons outside, it's just been a long while since I've had anyone react as strongly as you have."
"And you probably won't be able to make your wings go away for a while, you're full of that magic.... so full you're still over spilling I can feel it.. I can't feel Miyu's magic anymore," Toshiro added trying not to fidget.
He wanted to do something, though what he wasn't sure quite yet.

Rhea hugged Kara tightly, seeking comfort in the woman's embrace. After a moment, she looked over at Toshiro, her eyes just as bright as they had been the moment before.
"What does that mean?" she asked, looking up at Kara again. "That I react strongly?"
Was it a good thing? A bad thing? Did it means that she wouldn't be able to control her magic, as her mother wished?
