Kirai first responded, "Yes, I would be glad to." She looked at the dolls, they were beautiful and made of porcelain, finer than she had seen in a long time. After reading the note, she put her hands over her mouth because she was smiling more than usual. "Most certainly we will have to make this up to Sergei when he gets back, and tell him thank you."

Kirai held one specifically she loved. It had pale skin with blue eyes and long dark hair, and was wearing a red layered dress with a rose headress. After a moment, she put them all gently on the dresser next to the bed. She looked over at Dr.Avarice and smiled. "By the way, I never did ask you how you became so interested and good in the practice and study of medical science."

"Interesting." Avarice muttered, sitting on the bed beside Kirai. "No one's asked me that before." He thought for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "My mother, when I was a child, became very ill. No one knew what it was. So, my father became obsessed with finding a cure. I was his...guinea pig. When, she died. He became deranged and delved into the wonderful world of necromancy. He eventually forgot about me altogether as he worked. One night, he was discovered digging up my mother's corpse and they killed him. I didn't know he died since he left me alone most the time, so I stayed in his library and read. And, I guess you could say, it became a family thing."

"I'm sorry to hear that." Kirai said, she couldn't imagine anyone doing something like that to their child, and of course she also felt stronger about it because it happened to Dr.Avarice. "But, you have become wonderful, so it seems that those hours of reading were well spent."

"Thank you. I've never hated my father though. It helped shape me. Those experiments he did, built my tolerance for silver. Which...helps greatly. Otherwise, those bullets of Edward's would've killed me yesterday."

Kirai thought back for a moment. "I'm not sure what happend before this, but I was about ten when I came to live in the place I considered home. The man taking care of me was very aristocratic, and taught me manners and self control, and for something to do in my spare time, I learned how to sew. A few years later, something happened where he had to blindfold me, and left me at the construction site in the Mainland. Sadly, when I awoke he was gone. Old as needed to take care of myself yet having not left his home for so long, I slowly grew to hate the cruelity of the world. Later on, I was saved by a Red Cross member and joined, then fled when they found out I was a strigoii. Later on, I met Kenomi, and here I am today." She concluded in a good mood.

Kirai shook her head. "I remember it was late at night, and he rushed me to quickly get up. There was a noise in the background, I'm not sure, but it has always been my belief some one broke in."

"So, maybe he was just trying to help you? Maybe...if you don't mind me suggesting it...he sacrificed himself. Perhaps that's why he didn't come back for you?" He scientific nature to always ask question was kicking in. He wasn't sure whether he should stop or not, but he was curious about how far he could go without upsetting her.
