I heard they had a four year old lip-syncer at the Olympics.

No it was a six year old girl who took the place of another girl who wasn't as "ascetically pleasing". neutral Tacky. Really, really tacky.

I think the other girl was just as adorable, but for different reasons. It shows you don't have to be perfect to be exceptional. 3nodding

I read about that, too. That must be a double whammy for that girl: not only did she miss out on singing at such a popular and honorable event, but they diss her looks, too!

Yeah, it's sad, isn't it? Makes you wonder what goes through the Chinese mind.

I agree. One can only guess at what another person is thinking, and even then you can never be 100% on that guess. As a whole though, the Chinese are an interesting bunch.

I don't think it's a bit fair to judge the Chinese like that. sweatdrop One's actions are greatly influenced by the society in which he/she is accustomed to, but I don't think it's fair to assume from this that the Chinese have a mean perspective on children.

I never said that it was a "mean" perspective. They just didn't feel that the other girl was the image they wanted for the Olympics. They wanted to show a "beautiful" side of China to those that went rather than a truer side. I'm not saying that the Chinese are rude and inconsiderate, just that that particular action was a bit disheartening to hear about.

Kita Cloud Yeah, it's sad, isn't it? Makes you wonder what goes through the Chinese mind. It was mostly this quote that rubbed me the wrong way. sweatdrop
