It definitely took a huge turn after Largo's leave. But I like both the old and new Megatokyo... Although I miss his crazy antics. He's seldom in the plot anymore, and when he is, he's mostly serious. Where's the obsession for b33r!? gonk
But either way, I enjoy the series, and keep myself up to date with new installments.

Largo was a character, wasn't he? Not a creator...?

I forgot his real name, but Largo was based off of one of the creators, just like how Piro is based off of Fred G. 3nodding He quit around the time that the comic series changed formats.

I wonder why that was? Maybe he didn't like were the comic was going or possibly needed a "real" job...?

Most likely the former. Largo (we'll call him that for now) thought that the purpose of it was to be a humorous comic strip, but Fred wanted to take a different approach. I think that it was because Fred was the artist that he won that argument.

So the comic took a more serious turn? Well, that's not very fun. stare

The comic took more of an interest in human emotion and relations. I mean, there's still some goofy twists (zombie attacks, Rent-a-Zilla...) that actually give them something to do, but the story mostly centers on the relationships among Piro and the girls.
Like I said, it's not entirely bad. Just a lot different than how it started.

Focus on the relationship with the girls...? Wow. That sounds a bit like he's hormone driven. Ah, but what do I know?

There is a lot of suggestions toward couples in the series (like in Avatar), but they're mostly coworkers. Plus, the author has a lot of respect for his female characters.

Hormones? He has a kid and is married.
Not to mention he art is not the best. sweatdrop
Rodney Caston left Megatokyo because he dislike the way Fred Gallagher was handling the story line, there were even threats of lawsuits and such, but those had more to do with the fact the Caston owned the name Megatokyo, in the end they settled the argument peacefully. 3nodding
