Chubbs kissed Joliette's cheek, getting her to put the bra on his shoulder, and he blinked hearing Laurens comment.

" Hey... I'm more a D cup anyway, damn man boobies"

He chuckled and bent down to pick up a few large pieces of glass.

" And careful there Luzza hun, I might ask for yours next, and that'd be a good show"

He smirked and chuckled, it was only in fun, and he saluted them both and headed across the river.

She nodded over to Joliette, "I need lots of sticks around the same size and thin. Two to support the third and the supports need to be forked. I will probably need a bunch of sets, as many as you can find." She continued sliceing nearly finished.

Lauren somehow kept her cool, "In your dreams fat man." She replied. Lauren was starting to think of Chubbs as one of the community so it was alright if he poked fun at Lauren. Anyone else though, would definately get a fight.

Joliette nodded and got up hurrying off, she glanced back at hte comment and frowned slightly but she had a mission and she was going to run and do it

Lauren waited for the sticks, taking the meat over by the fire and smoldering it a bit. She took a swig out of her water bottle.

Joliette came back with whatever she could find, it was obviosu most were broken straight off the trees to get what they needed as she dumped the pile carefully beside Lauren "Will these do?"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2006 10:33 pm

Lauren nodded, "Yep, perfect. They'll do" Then proceeded to strip the bark off the stick that would be the middle one, cutting the others to the right length. "I'm going to go collect some sea water."

After a awhile Lauren left and came back with a bottle full of sea water, drenching the meat in that bottle. She set the sticks up just like she described, dangeling the semi salted meat over the fire. "Now we just wait forever, possibly all day and hope this works." But for some reason, Lauren thought it should.

"I know you hate it, but can you watch the meat, keep it away from the birds. The heat should help." Lauren picked up the pieces of hide she founds and some sticks that were left over. "I'm going to attempt something I know s**t about." She went over to the river, washing the hide and makeing it wet. "I'm going to do this out of sight, so you won't get sick." Then Lauren left to go skin and attempt to tan the hide, hopeing some of the animals head was left for her and hopeing she could do it right. She had no clue that she would only wind up with moldy skins but she left to try anyway.

Chubbs dumped the pile of boar bits on the ground in the middle of a clearing, a small grassy spot with surrounding vegetation, it was the spot he needed. With flies buzzing over the horrid guts of the creature, Chubbs used branches and his own claws to dig a small pit. He took some vine and made a noose on the end. With the glass he sharpened a large stick to a point as best he could do and several smaller ones to lay beside it. And finally he used the bra of Jolieet with a Y shape branch and constructed a sling shot, in which he took a few practice shots. It took him a couple of hours to get it all organised, and he kept checking the boar pieces. In the end the traps were set, a small covered tiger pit, and a snar trap on either side of the pile. He had a spear incase something got by them, and a slig shot for the birds if they came by. Chubbs rubbed dirt all over himself and sat behind a bush, hoping that the pig guts would attract something and his hours were not wasted.

The practice tries with the bra-shot prove the device to be a wholly ineffective weapon. You can get only get rocks perhaps half the size of your fist or smaller to go anywhere, and even then with remarkably little force.

You also realize how much effort it is to dig a pit big enough to catch anything sizable, especially, deep in the jungle, with the wet earth. After a few hours of digging it becomes evident that it will take most of a day or more to do anything meaninngful digging - longer with bare hands.

After their previous encounter with being thrown rocks at, the vultures don't immediately come to this new 'kill' site. However, 7 hours later, they begin to circle over the thick canopy. An hour after that, a few touch down.

Rocks thrown or used with the slingshot will annoy them, cause them to squak at you as they tear at the meat. If you actually approach, they might try to stay by the kill, but not if you get right up to them.

Alone at the campsite Joliette waited and watched the smoking meat, she'd used a large leaf to drag and push and shove and roll the carcass of hte boar best she could away from the main part of the camp, sure the black birds went after it, but she would rather see them do it at a distance instead of right beside her.

When the meat seemed done she proceeded to wrap them in the leaves she had brought back, she'd made sure they were not poisonous when she picked them only chosing ones she actually knew. soon she had a bundle and some lefto over vines, she tied it all with a handle of sorts, easy for carrying and slung it over her shoulder heading into the village to go check on doors see if there was any change, she didn't want to leave the meat alone at the camp with the scavengers already there, those birds were... annoying

Sure enough, the birds don't leave the carcass alone, and cluster around the remnants, tearing at the meat, squaking, and ultimately smelling to high heaven the longer the meat festers. It's enough to make a carnivore gag after another several hours in the warm humidity of the jungle.

The vultures, who stink nearly as much as the meat, seem to enjoy it all the more. There is also more rustling than normal around the campsite.

If left alone, at one point a small jungle cat emerges from the canopy to try to combat the hulking birds for snippets of the meat, without much luck

Chubbs spent many hours sitting and fidgeting, swatting bugs and trying to remain hidden. Nothing came, least nothing he wanted. In the end it was the birds again, this time much bigger. He'd never seen a vulture up close before, he wasn't sure he wanted to. When a couple flew down to peck at the remains. Chubbs tried his sling. A few shots missed and flew pass the hungry feeders, but one smacked a vulture in the back of the head. It barely took notice and he frowned. His traps where no working either, and in the end he jumped up and chased at them with a makeshift spear. The crazy birds barely shifted away, seeing him as no threat as all. He smacked a couple with the large stick on the back and backside, trying to shoo them away. But when his back was turned, more came, and he was out numbered. Growling he took up the spear, and the sling and huffed, feeling tired, angry, hungry and annoyed.

The next time the camp is asleep:

Joliette has particularly strage, wild dreams... dreams that likely summon forth imagry of the research she had been doing on her animal - the Komodo dragon.

When she wakes, she finds herself a good hundred feet from camp, and the strong taste of blood in her mouth. Lying about a foot from her mouth is a boar piglet, dead - obviously from claw and tooth-marks, in a small pool of blood.

Joliette finishes wandering from duplex to duplex, including going to those which she knew were still empty.. And then returns to the camp... "Mon deau we really need to move camps" she says making a face and waving her hand back and forth in front of her face

Chubbs came storming back towards camp, well what was left of it. He couldn't see anybody around. He frowned and sat down by a tree, he felt tired and dirty, his stomach felt awful, like it was on fire. He really was starving pretty badly, even with the food he had eaten a while ago. He sat and waited, thinkinghow he'd eat Sabin if he was near.
