Moments latter Cindy came padding out of the room dressed like Aliya, in her nightgown. She had an amazing sense of balance, and lack of soreness compared to her other siblings. The only person that managed to pull that off were the mertwins, though Yukito theroized it could be because the water relieved a lot of the pressure.
"Hi," she called out as she checked out the window before adding good afternoon to that.

"H'lo!" Aliya grinned. "I thought I heard you awake. Did you sleep okay?" She held out a wafer of waybread and asked, "Hungry?"
Ulani smiled and added, "There are other things if you'd prefer, plus there will be cookies in about half an hour."
Which explained what she was so busy with.

"Thank you," Cindy replied taking the waybread from the girl and chewing on it thoughtfully.
It reminded her of a pastry, though it was more bread and less flakey. Kind of like one of those pocket meals, except it was like having a jam sandwhich of sorts.
"It's good," she murmured.

"Thank you," Ulani smiled. Then she turned to Aliya and said, "Aliya, why don't you get some clothes for Cindy? They'll need some altering, though ..."
"I'll let you do that bit, Mum," Aliya quipped, heading off to her room. "But I'll get some."
As she passed Cindy again, she asked, "Any preference?"

"Hm... dresses if you have any," Cindy began.
She knew that Aliya didn't prefer dresses, so she wasn't sure if Aliya had any.

"Uhmmmm ..." Aliya frowned slightly and clicked her tongue. "Sorry ... no ... I don't have any ..."
She rubbed the back of her neck, looking at Cindy thoughtfully, her expression apologetic.

"That's okay, a shirt and pants would do just as fine," Cindy replied back reassuring the girl.
She didn't want to put out Aliya, and she had somewhat figured (though hope) that it was the case.

Aliya was relieved, and she smiled brightly. "Okay then," she nodded. "I'll be right back!"
And she skipped out of the kitchen.
Ulani by this time was putting the cookie dough in small pieces onto the cooking stone. "I'm not sure we've ever had a dress occasion out here," she told Cindy thoughtfully. "Ulrich and I were married in the Southland ... as were our children ... Amara and Fletcher married without a ceremony at all ... and their children all moved to the Westland. Really there's no other occasion where dresses would be required, either ..."
She brought the cooking stone over to the fireplace and slid it into a small oven just to the side.
"Come to think of it," she laughed, "the only time I ever wore a dress was when I was visiting the Southland, and even then only for a short while. Ninako didn't approve, but there you have it."

Cindy mused on this and realized looking around her that this was far removed from the inn. It made sense, even though she still did hard work in a dress.
"I guess I hadn't thought about it, a dress would sort of get in the way, but I've been so use to working in them since I don't fight like some of my other siblings."
And as the eldest she tended to do quite a bit as Kara had done.

"If you'd like, I can make you some," Ulani offered with a smile, "but it would take me the rest of the day to make even just one. If you don't mind waiting, I could make a few more tomorrow ..."

Cindy shook her head, "It's fine, it's only going to be for about two weeks or so."
And really if it was that much trouble for dresses and Helen was probably going to make some anyways.

"You're sure?" Ulani asked dubiously. "It's no trouble, really ..."
For that matter she could probably rope Aliya into trying to do a bit of sewing as well. Perhaps the idea of having a guest wear what she made might serve as incentive for her to try to do a better job.

"I'm sure..." Cindy replied back.
She didn't have a problem with wearing pants, it was true it wasn't something she was use to, but she could live wearing them for a couple days. Granted it was more than a couple of days, but she wasn't one to complain, not when she was a guest.

"Then just a few alterations will work, I think," Ulani smiled, taking her sewing kit out of the chest in the corner once more and setting it on the table.
Aliya returned quickly with a few sets of clothes, which she set on the table.
"They're a bit small on me," she told Cindy with a grin. "I wore them last year, but I grew out of them too fast so they didn't wreck like most of my other clothes do."

Cindy giggled at that, "Well that works."
She had meant it too, she wasn't as tall as Aliya though close to it really. Cindy finally took a seat, taking a moment so she wouldn't just fall into her seat. She still wasn't use to the height different at this point.
