I totally understand; I'm phone phobic as well. Today, I was signing up for an appointment with the Japanese adviser to discuss minoring, and I was ecstatic to discover that you just register for appointments completely online, instead of having to call in like in the Art department! I mean, at least at this point I know the ladies who answer the phone for Art advising, but I thought I would have to talk to all new people!

Yea, once I'm talking I'm ok, but calling just makes me nervous. Who knows what they are doing? How they will react to being called. I'm about as bad when knocking on people's doors, even when expected, phones are worse though because I can't see reactions. In general I prefer face-to-face or online, I think best writing, but at least face-to-face I can get a sense of feelings and whatnot. Glad you didn't have to talk to new people though, hehe.

I don't even know why I'm phone phobic. Just a general discomfort and fear of bothering people. I'm worse when I first call someone, but still pretty bad when just talking. I'm also bad at knocking on peoples' doors. XD;;

Yea, same. If it's with friends I can get into talking with a select few people, but in general it's not my conversational medium of choice.

Aww...I hit reply to post without reading, which is what I usually do, and all you say is yes...nothing to respond to that. But I'm hear...so I think I'll ramble. I'm tired and way bored...soooooo bored. I could go read, but then I'm tired. It's much easier to prattle on and on about nothing.
Heh, sorry, ok I'll be less silly and go do puzzles or something. Puzzles.................... rofl

Aww, I'm sorry, that's no fun. What does this mean for your major?
I tried a third email address today, emailed international relations and got an automated response right away (saying they'll get back to me soon). I at least know that that one email went through though, so I'm slightly relieved.

Um, well I get another chance to submit next semester, and if that gets rejected again, then I'll have to change majors. For now though, it mostly just means I can't take upper division art classes next semester, so am focusing on Japanese instead. I might end up switching to Drawing as my major regardless. Ugh, automated messages are... good and bad. But yes, at least you know it's going through! People just fail at responding.

Well that's sad, oh well, Japanese should at least be fun. Ah the pressure of art. I mean I guess creative writing had that same pressure? And I kinda did the same thing, I kept getting rejected from fiction so I ended up switching to poetry. I didn't even start writing poetry until college but I just was more successful at it. Or at least, my poetry was more what that dept/those professors were looking for than my fiction. I still plan on being a writer of fiction, but poetry was a nice experience, and I definitely plan to keep it in my repertoire. Plus I do love the freedom of abusing the English language that poetry gives. It's not mistakes, it's choices. wink Also, I think in some offtrack way, it made me realize more of what I want to do now.
I know! If I don't hear by Wed I'm just going to call, but that will royally suck. (1) I already stated I don't like making phone calls/talking on the phone, I just feel awkward and just don't think quickly enough. (2) International charges (3) with my luck I'll have work the next day (and I'll probably be staying up until at least midnight to try and make the call, that'd make it around 8am there), so I'll be really tired after being stressed - even if it goes well I'll just be stressed based on the first and second detail. (4) I'll have to find some way to entertain myself, I suppose that'll be the easiest part though.
I'll just really hope to hear back before then. ~_~

Yeah, I talked to an adviser today, and I think I am gonna switch to Drawing. It just comes more naturally and is more of a focus to me than all the variations of Intermedia. Plus, I can still take the computer Intermedia classes as electives, which is what I really wanted Intermedia for to begin with, plus I wouldn't have to take the Intermedia Sculpture or Performance classes. I think overall it's turning out to be a good thing, like your poetry. Ugh, that's a good list of suck reasons. Hope you get it by Wednesday!

Yea, I mean I originally realized I was in interior design because I wanted to take the furniture building courses. Which I then realized, is carpentry. They were too expensive to take as electives, but I decided I'll just take things like that for fun later, and not suffer all the other stuff I really didn't want to do - particularly for grade.
I got it today! xp
I am so relieved though, she got my passport scan and everything, I am hereby unconditionally accepted. *dances*
So yea, just need to get to the visa process - that won't be fun, but whatever. I think I got past all the huge hurdles that I was worried about, now it's just paperwork.
The funny thing though? I got my acceptance email to Birmingham while I was working at Alvarado Elementary for the first time. I hadn't been back there since, until today, when I got my email from my admissions officer. Perhaps there is something magical about this elementary school, hehe.

Oh yay, congratulations! I'm glad to hear you don't have to *gasp* call someone. XD But no, I'd feel the same way, so yay! Magical elementary schools are win!
