Unfortunately, it appeared that she was too exhausted to begin her thirteenth lap, so once again Elruda rested. By now, she was certain that she hated this activity. Why the hell won't fate just let her finish? Maybe fate's just trying to tell you more strength building assignments are needed... The tiny voice came back, mocking her. Elruda made a visible scowl and ignored it, though she knew deep in her heart that it was right.

And so, the Hyuuga resumed to working on her thirteenth lap. It was a pity that the Hyuuga clan was quite superstitious as by now, Elruda is almost convinced that her failures have something to do with the number. All the reason to pass it then... She thought bitterly.

Elruda could've cheered with joy as she finished her thirteenth lap but she quelled the urge. If there was anyone in Ame who could read minds, Elruda would almost certainly be in trouble with the mental conversations she would have with herself.

Thus, Elruda should've been quite happy that she did not cheer as her next attempt resulted in a bitter failure. By now, she was cursing fluently in her mind though the only visible sign of her disappointment was the angry way her right eye twitched.

There were only two more laps to go, it would be a pity should she give up now. Elruda almost reluctantly returned to her fourteenth lap, trying to reassure herself that only two more laps remained. But what if you fail again...? Commented the voice in her head. Elruda only frowned as she dove back into the water.

Elruda cursed silently why fate deemed the voice in her head so unpredictably accurate. Why the hell can't she just swim two more laps? Was she really that incompetent? No. Failure is not tolerable, especially for one of the Hyuuga clan.

With a grunt, Elruda pushed herself to restart her fourteenth lap once more. By now, she had almost lost all of her confidence. Almost as a curious afterthought, Elruda wonder how long it would take for her to go insane. Because having mental conversations with yourself can hardly be a good sign of a supposedly staple mind.

Three minutes later, Elruda sat on the banks, staring crossly at the sky. Every once a while, the little voice in her head would nag her, but the Hyuuga would mercilessly crush it and focus on her anger instead. Her bare feet annoyedly kicked the muddy water; knowing that the same dirty water dripped from her usually immaculate hair and clothes irritated her to no end.

However, should she want to clean herself, at least completing the last two laps would be a good idea. Feeling a bit better with the thought, Elruda dove back down into the water. She waded a bit towards the center, splashing some of the brown water around her. And so, she attempted her fourteenth lap once more.

Soon enough, her efforts paid off, as Elruda had completed her fourteenth lap. But instead of cheering that there was only one more lap to go, Elruda simply proceeded to her final lap. This assignment was long enough and by now she could care less about anything else except to finish it.

Fortunately, Elruda was able to complete her final lap and it did not take too long. Climbing from the "pool", the Hyuuga proceeded to her traveling bag. She pulled out her blanket and used it as a makeshift towel to furiously scrub at her face. Afterwards, she cleaned her hair and then her arms and then for drying her clothes a bit. Mentally, she was berating herself for forgetting to pack clothes before traveling to Ame because right now, she would most prefer clean clothes over more training. It was a pity that it'll be a while before she earns enough money to buy new clothes.
Reminding herself to later go bathe and wash her clothes in the river, Elruda comforted herself that at least her face and hair was a bit cleaner...

Too tired to speak, Elruda simply nodded before dropping into the lotus position. She closed her eyes as she prepared to calm her turbulent mind with the following meditation exercise. It was almost a relief, after the two strength building lessons.

Thus, Elruda wasn't at all surprised when her first attempt resulted in failure. Pushing herself a bit, she tried to meditate again. Hopefully, this time, her efforts would be rewarded. Elruda just hoped that her fatigue won't distract her.

But apparently, that wasn't the case so the Hyuuga continued trying to build her concentration. She tried to listen to nature conversing but right now all that filled her mind was her soggy clothes and damp hair. How absolutely annoying... Elruda thought bitterly.
