*is sad that Japanese confuses me*
Though I would've rather taken that than French. rolleyes Stupid Taft only had two languages available...and learning Japanese on my own is a joke...I already tried. crying

For the record, are Natsumi and Megumi perfectly normal real names? Thoes are my second and third favorites.

I went up to French II and decided to quit after that. I'm much more interested in hiring a Japanese tutor, though I've been searching for months and can't find a tutoring service at all over in Rhode Island. gonk

Alex: Hiragana is like the alphabet. The letter "A" means nothing by itself. "Apple" the word, however, has meaning.
Kanji characters have meaning just by themselves because each kanji is a word or concept in just one character. When put together with other words they form new words with new meanings.
Blue is a color. Bird is a creature. Bluebird is a specific animal.
Uma is horse. Shika is deer. Write UmaShika and you pronounce it "baka" and it means stupid. XD
Miri: Rei written in katakana just doesn't make sense. It's a Japanese word so you wouldn't write it in katakana. You could write it in hiragana, however, and while it would lack meaning, it would be just fine as a name. ^^
Natsu___ is a somewhat common name if you use the kanji for "summer" for natsu. Natsuko, Natsumi, etc. ^^ Megumi is even more common.

Taylor: As far as I understand - Kanji symbols themselves have meanings, but the individual groups of strokes have meanings also. Group two or more kanji together to create a word with another meaning.
For example, the kanji for waterfall is a combination of the kanji for water and dragon.
Since many kanji have the same pronunciation, you can take a name and spell it using different kanji that add together to sound like the name.

I know english and a little bit of a bunch of other languages, but nothing too solid ;-; *Figures she needs to take up learning a new language* I'm just being silly, I've had that song stuck in my head all day. Even though this isn't exactly what it means, I'm sure you'll recognize the English Version of the song. "I just can't wait to be King" whee "Je voudrais" means "I want" I'm not excactly sure was deja means, but I know etre means "To be" so my rough guess is "I want right now to be King" *looks in dictionary* deja means already...so yeah "I want already to be King" is what it exactly means ^^

Get the book "Kanji Pict-o-graphix". It helped me study Kanji when I wasn't lazy enough to not study Kanji. It helps you read Kanji by showing you the meanings of the strokes that make up the Kanji.
Apparently the kanji that means "noisy" is 3 of the kanji that mean "woman" grouped together.
