yeah.

uhm, lol
skimmers, if im not mistaken, dont take saves against difficult terrain, yes?
well.... crap, thats pointless, does anyone know how high a skimmer can, well, skim? ive just made some barricades outta golf pegs and toothpicks, and theyre a tad to angled to be anti-personnel, so i figured they'd be half decent tank traps, and possibly, if theyre tall enough, effective on skimmers

No vehicle 'takes saves' against difficult terrain, but I assume you're talking about dangerous terrain tests

Terrain never outright stops skimmers. They can fly over any intervening terrain, no test required. If they end their move right on top of your tank traps, they will need to make a dangerous terrain test. Refer to pg 71 of the main rulebook for details.

ahhh. damn, tank traps too small, maybe 3 inches in diameter.

uhm, would making it have a str8 attack against vehicles armor work if they decide they wanna drive through it be good? or would that be too strong for sharpened logs, cuz its just wooden posts

So long as the people you're playing with agree to it, you can use any rules that you want.

So, battle suits only get 3 support systems, right? Primarily two weapons and 1 external support.
But what is hard-wired, then? Why is that an option if you can only have three support systems anyways and almost every tau player makes the piece visible on the suit?

hard-wired reperesents extra wargear available to higher-ups in command structure...

Higher ups meaning the commander or does that flow outwards to the elites as well? Can hard-wired systems be stacked? I mean, you do pay the points for them. :-/

Battle suits have three hardpoints that must be filled, either by weapons or support systems. Hardwired equipment is equipment that is hardwired to the pilot, and don't use hardpoints. Only Shas'ui Team Leaders or Shas'vre and higher can take hardwired equipment. In game terms, if you upgrade one of the Crisis suits in your unit to a Team Leader, he can take hardwired systems, Your commander and his bodyguard can take hardwired systems, and Shas'ui leading Fire Warriors can take hardwired systems. The advantage to hardwired systems is that they don't take up one of the three hardpoints on the suit, so you can fit more equipment/stuff on a suit.

i.e. Normally a suit could equip a Shield Generator, Burst Cannon and a Missile Pod, but then would have to choose which weapon to fire each turn. A Team Leader could take this same suit configuration and take a hardwired Multitracker, to fire both weapons, and a Hardwired Drone controller for some drone backup.

So, they CAN be stacked. Awesome!
I use a battlesuit army, so this is good to know.
I can use the hardwired systems for all of my battlesuits that can take them. wink
I am at college and I don't have my codex with me, but is this the same with Broadsides? Can only one have hard-wired systems?

lol, look at the name of the model. if it ends in 'vre, it can have one... which i think all broadsides do.
ive got a multitracker on my one b/s
get within 36" of it and it will pummel your model to the next millennia. >.< my most favorite anti tank unit. it f***s s**t up

Uhh.... Plasma guns and smart missile systems only shoot 24'. The rail guns shoot 72'. Why would it matter if the enemy got within 36'? It's still out of range of all but the main guns.
As for the 'vre suffix to the name, is that for sure or is that a safe guess on your part? Like I said, my codex is at home, I'm at campus, and I'm impatient and want to know now. biggrin

While neither endorsing nor encouraging, there are ways around it.

Completely legal version: Get the demo of Army Builder.
Then, once you get the Army Builder shell, you'll need the Warhammer 40k Data Files.
Warhammer 40k Data File Download

These will give you stats and have codex correct points and options selections.

Ah, so all Commanders and body guard can have stacked hardwired systems, but only one broadside per squad can have hardwired. :-/
Broadsides need it way more, too, unfortunately.
