toco clarinet clarinet_rocker what do you mean by hand pick? were I go we cant do that were givin some reeds and thats that. you say "Hey, i'd really appreciate it if i could look at the reeds i'm buying so that i know they're good reeds. would you mind if i inspected these reeds before i buy them?" and if you're really polite about it, they may just let you do it. if not, go to a different store. or, if they won't let you do it, and you don't want to find a different store...O.o don't complain about the "dud" reeds you get. *sighs* why do you always got to start stuff with people? it's not nessescary to do.

Lets not start a fight again please! We finally got the fighting to stop, and we don't need it starting again.
How can you tell if a reed is a good reed or a dud? Personally, I just buy the boxes of ten. Where I go, there is always a slight discount on boxes, so it costs less to buy ten in a box then ten seperately. And besides, when the box gets crushed in your heavier then a boulder backpack, you can always fix it up with duct tape colored pretty colors and make it one of a kind. My current one is green and black, because I couldn't find our yellow(school colors, haha)

My current one is green and black, because I couldn't find our yellow(school colors, haha) that's a completely subjective question. you have to study the good reeds to know what a good reed looks like, and you have to know what a bad reed looks like as well. look at all your reeds BEFORE you play them, pay attention to the color of certain areas and how big those colored areas are. pay attention to the curve of the reed's tip and if it's an even curve or if it seems like it ends when it shouldn't.

I think i figured out how to tell them apart. I was examining the recent dud reed and the good reed i sitched too, and then looked at the other four in my box. One of them didn't match the good reed at all, so I'm guessing that one is a dud right?
I'm curious: Does anyone know of any good solo music that is cheap? I've been looking for some sheet music to play when I have nothing else, and plus I want to work on my sightreading a bit more. Luckily, I'm already one of the better sightreaders in my band. i tend to be the last one to stop playing when sightreading a piece. I think ti is because I spend more practicing time working on scales then music. Since I started band my bds have told us that if you can play all your scales, you can play any piece of music.

Hey everyone, what is the highest note that you can play? I can tongue up to A# (5 spaces above the staff, not 1 line), but I can slur all the way up to C. I can't tongue the higher notes because I just started teaching myself them a couple of weeks ago.
