Mala stepped back a few steps, feeling quite awkward in this situation. 'Yeeeeaaahh....I'm not getting involved.' she thought to herself.

"I think I liked it when we just had Angel around. One nutty vampire was enough." Van muttered after falling back a few steps with Mala.

Mala smiled over at Van and muttured softly in reply in hopes of the others not hearing her, "I....I value my life enough not to comment on the situation at the moment either way." If she defended them, Angel might somehow crush her ribs or lungs with a hug. If she commented negatively, one of the vampires might get pissed. Mala didn't like either odds.

"Just in time." Riley said with a smile, ignoring the assorted bickering as they arrived in town while he looked up at the sky to see the setting sun.

Mala had decided not to comment further previously, but in this situation she couldn't help it. With a sigh and a look of dread she said, "Riley, although I hate saying it, you can't honestly believe that things will ever be easy for us - no matter how much we hope or wish it was. There are bound to be consequences for this as well, although I really didn't want to think about them."

"Yes, stories have a way of doing that." Mala said flatly, crossing her arms now. "Cheer up. Once you've gotten past a small period of whatever, you'll be back to your old self - except different."

Riley blinked a few times, taking in the bodily horrors he'd have to go through before looking to Angel. "You're lucky I love you. I can't imagine going through this for very many people."

After a moment Mala offered her brother a quick hug. It seemed as if she were trying to comfort him, but more than anything, she felt like she needed a large bit of comforting and reassurance that he'd be just fine after going through such wretched pain. She felt as if she were failing him somehow.
