"The girls are doing nicely... and they miss you..." He wasn't sure how much time he had if he could get her to pay attention or if this would even work but he had very few options on how to get her attention.
"Fae this is an illusion look at me, its just like at the hospital when we danced..."
Dante wasn't sure if that would work but only really had one more option to bring her back to harsh reality. He was worried about Artemis too, there had to be some way to get Fae back that didn't involve letting Meria hurt her.

"An illusion?" her brow knitted as she looked back at the children. She wasn't stupid, but her mindscape saw things rather simply at times, she had that childlike quality about her. Part of the reason so many people cared for and protected her she knew.
"B...but..." her lip trembled and she leaned against Dante, her weight as slight as ever. "...There was this girl...who said she was mine...I don't want to leave her..."

"Fae its all fake I need you to help me decide what to do about Meria... shes hurting Artemis right now... please pay attention, you've got to snap out of it, listen to my voice alright." Dante paused for a second seeing if she would take him seriously.
"Fae. listen to me" his tone was a bit harsh but not rough he was obviously trying to get her attention. He was impatient fora very simple reason the sooner this was done the sooner he could sleep again, could he really if Meria remained part of her how could he fully trst her again, he'd had no warning before... but there were ways he knew there were but for now he just wanted to get Fae out of this illusion.

"O...kay..." The idea of Artemis being hurt was completely repellant to Fae, but she couldn't believe the sweet little girl that had asked for her help would hurt Artemis. It wasn't possible. But something about Dante's voice demanded that she listen.
"What do you need me to do?"
~~~~~~~~~
As Meria released Artemis' fur, the vixen turned on her and bit her hand, illiciting a yelp of pain from the girl. "You b***h!" She reached back to smack the fox away, only she saw the pool of crimson blood on the fox's silver muzzle, and she paused; watching.
Artemis then began licking the blood away, moving toward Meria's hand which dropped and licking the blood there as well. "Would you do that, Artemis?" The black haired girl had tears in her eyes even as she cradled her hand, the fox continuing to lick.
"But would he accept it?" She leaned down, listening to some inner conversation she was having with the vixen. "He doesn't trust me. Would he trust you?" Her voice sounding more and more like a true child, no malice, only pain.
"Thats a very good question.. I was kind of hoping you'd know..." Dante thought about this but motioned for her to get up and walk with him."well here a the situation.. that girl... Meria is currently in corntol of your body. Id obviously prefer to have you back in command of all those sorts of bodily functions."
Dante looked at her a bit puzzled. "really though this isnt exactly my forte..."
She glanced down at the girl, who seemed deeply engrossed in conversation with the vixen. "Oh..." Her lips pursed and she tried to think. "Well, there is a way...." She glanced up at Dante.
"Nevermind, not letting you do that one." She shivered, thinking about all the blood she'd seen that day. No way in hell was she going to let Dante go through that. "The only way Meria could be in control of my body is if I let her or she was part of me...I don't remember letting her, so she must've been part of me. And I do..." She stopped again, dropping to her knees, her arms wrapped tightly around her.
"PLEASE STOP!!!" But Fae wasn't speaking to Dante, her mind had shifted and slowly the scene would come into focus around them. There were in a court of some kind. A man sat upon the throne, careless in his disregard for the woman in front of him.
"Again..", came the word and Fae fell forward as if lashed by an invisible force. "Admit to your demonic service. That you killed those children."
But Fae's voice carried through the chamber, echoing against the walls. "I killed only to protect those children from your majesty's rampage. And those were monsters I killed not men. And most certainly not children." Again the unseen last, this time taking her to the floor, the blood along her back marring the porcelain surface.
Leaving the Leviathan shortly after the finals ended, a bandaged half demon strode down the streets, eyes scanning the signs in a less...savory area of the town. Finally, she seemed to find what she was looking for: a wooden sign with a crude drawing of a hippo in a tutu, poised as if it were leaping through the air in some kind of retarded version of ballet.
"Here's the place," she said to the man who was presumably behind her, then kicked the door open and went inside.
"Oi! Flare!" the barkeep shouted from behind the high bar that jutted out from the right wall. "Nice titties!"
Flare glared at him, her crimson eyes meeting his before he gestured to the TV screens hung about the bar.
...they were replaying her match from HoH, the commentator barely able to refrain from making boob jokes through the entire thing.
The barkeep only guffawed at Flare's expression of distaste. "I don't know why you keep them covered all the time, you should-"
He broke off as Flare's right hand suddenly burst into flame.
"Need I remind you..." the demoness hissed. "How flammable alchohol is?"
"Don't waste it."
Joshua brushed past her and crossed through the room. If there had been people laughing at the jokes before many of them clammed up right then as 'Mr. Scary Team' took an empty seat at the bar.
Well... it hadn't been empty to start with, but no one seemed to want to refuse it to him - or any of the seats near it, either.
"...the beer. Don't waste the beer."
"Feh."
The fire extinguished as many of the bar's patrons clammed up or just flat out retreated to the corners of the room when Joshua made his entrance. A few groups looked at him with open-mouthed awe, not sure whether to flee before he killed them or thank him for giving them a free look at what was under Flare's shirt.
"There are other bars in Latent."
Nonchalantly, she collapsed into the seat next to him, then glared up at the barkeep, who had frozen in fear upon Joshua's arrival. "Well, what are you waiting for? Get us a round of drinks, dammit! You know the stuff."
(( I completely brain died on this one, sorry. ))
"Then by all means... I don't mind a short walk."
He waited while she placed 'an order'... but the silence was really starting to grate. You don't go to a bar expecting it to be quiet enough that you can actually hear what is on the television.
"OI!" the fighter shouted to the room as a whole while his fist slammed down onto the bar top. "Stop wondering if I'm going to kill you! ...or I'll kill you! ...or something unpleasant like that!"
Everyone in the bar, with the exception of Flare, jumped halfway out of their skins at the shout. Slowly, though, in the void that followed, people started talking again, low murmurs at first. The sound gradually built, louder and louder, until finally it was close to the usual level again.
A few men were even so bold as to come up and congratulate Joshua for exposing Flare's breasts on national television. Flare's subsequent death threats were laughed off, and surprisingly nothing exploded.
"Goddammit..."
Flare groaned, snatching up a beer when the bartender finally brought them some.
"This is what happens when I frequent a place too damn long, they figure out I'm not just going to kill them all."
"You could always make an example of one," was his reply to her as he started in on whatever watered down piss beer the bartender had brought.
"Of course then they probably wouldn't let you come back anyway."
To any people that came up to congratulate him on his 'achievement' he'd extort a dollar out of each with the excuse 'no free shows'. It's not like he was robbing them or anything, it's just that nobody was willing to argue with him when he stared them in the eye and said "give me a dollar".
"I could, I could..." Flare sighed. "But it wouldn't stick. That's why I like this place; you could fry any damn one of the patrons, and the rest'd just laugh it off. The barkeep's married to a damn white mage; every time someone croaks in her bar, she calls her god in to fix them. It's not a pretty sight."
She choked down the sorry excuse for beer, near draining the glass in one gulp.
A few people would probably give Joshua more than a dollar...just in case.
"Though if you want to test it..."
"Testing? Hmm..." He snatched the nearest trembling mass of cowardice by the back of the neck and pulled it down; staring viciously into the man's eyes as he stole another dollar without objection. "Just need a victim, then..."
"..."
The coward was shoved into a nearby table, and a fist full of crumpled dollars flopped onto the bar.
"Next round, Mac." Despite having not a penny in his pocket walking in the door, now he had a couple of bucks, which was more than enough to pay for a few rounds of this piss-water.
"Er..."
"So," he said, shaking his head and finishing off what was left in the bottle in front of him, "do you have one of those... what are they called... reasons? A lot of these pissants think they can change the world by fighting..."
"Reasons?" Flare scoffed, swirling the last of the drink around in her glass. "The only reason I'm still living is cause I haven't died yet. The only reason I fight is to entertain myself. Any fool who enters a tournament and goes spouting off about his noble reasons for entering is just that - a fool. If you enter a tournament, you're fighting to entertain people, and you're fighting for the prize money. The only thing at stake in each round is whether you will advance to the next."
She pushed the glass aside, leaving the dregs inside of it, to partake of the next round, graciously paid for by Joshua.
Thank goodness he hadn't decided to tempt the white mage to summon her dancing hippotamus god. It had nearly flattened Flare the last time it had come down.
