Meredith wrenched her hand away weakly. "I am a lab rat, and the first being to be naturally born. I'm millenia old, I have no power, and Robin married the son because she doesn't know you, and loves him." She shook her head again. "I was born filled with nullifying pathogens, which is why my hair and eyes are this color, and why I occasionally can't control my hormones. I'm sorry, Taro. I was forced to deceive you. Now let me go to be a spinster, as that is what I am used to." ~*~ Moé paused. "Oh, I see. Thank you." She ran after him, and, phasekissing him on the cheek, she ran to the kitchen.

Caleb silently sighed, and followed her as she ran off. The dusty floor boards whined as he entered the kitchen.

Moé paused as she placed the stew on the table. "Sir? Why are you here? I don't see any books left out."

"Wait... Robin dosen't love me because..."Taro attempted to piece together the information with little success, and so allowed himself to be distracted by what the girl had said about herself. "I would have picked you to be Robin's younger sister," he mused, taking in Meredith seriously. "But never a spinster... you don't have cats, do you?" He asked suspiously as he began sniffing her clothes. [I need to change computers, back soon!]

Meredith paused. "I live by myself. I live in a spare room in a closed apartment complex. I can live anywhere, since I have no valuables. Can't afford anything." She sighed. "I'm over five millenia old, and the marriageable age is twenty. I look 19 because of my immortality." She began to walk away, her stomach lurching. "Please, just leave me alone. It hurts to talk to you..."

"You wanted myself to dine, did you not?" Caleb replied, seating himself into a chair in the dining room. "I will leave if you need myself to."

Moé blushed deeply. "Of course, but I don't want you to be here if you don't need to. What, did the fake version of me force you to eat illusory food?" She paused. "No dirty dishes, or anything, so if she ever fed you, that was fake, too..." She poured him a bowl, placed a spoon in it, and put a post-it note on his forehead with some sort of odd rune on it. "That'll make anything except for air phase through your mask. For example..." She knelt down next to him and kissed him on the mouth, without having to phase.

Taro's hangover had only worsened since discovering Meredith, and he was not tempted to stop the sad woman from leaving, especially after she told him about Robin. The only thing that Taro wanted to do was to fall asleep in a hole for a century. Considering this, no one was more surprised than Taro when he reached out to stop Meredith from leaving. "I think you hurt more alone..." he said in a raspy voice. "Thats how it is with me, anyways." [Evanescence "Bring Me to Life" begins to play...O.O]

Caleb picked up the spoon out of the steaming bowl. He carefully let the spoon go into the stew and cautiously brought the spoon though the mask and into his mouth. The spoon came out of the mask clean.

Meredith shrugged sadly. "I've been alone all my life, it's what I'm used to. It only hurts when people give false offers of companionship and comfort, whether it's the evil man holding me hostage, a girl who said she would be my friend, or my own mother." ~*~ Moé paused. "It's my own recipe for stuffing-and-goose stew. All of the ingredients are organic and home-grown, from the huge farm Montblanc owns."

"It is quite good." Caleb replied, taking in another spoonful. "But, are not most foodstuffs organic?"

"You mean when those ties break?" Taro inquired, "I've recently discovered that it is very painful to lose those sort of bonds; hell, I have been dumped by my woman and survived my species... Neither is very enjoyable, but to numb yourself- to lock your heart-it is like leaving your wounds open. We should seek out new bonds that can heal what others have damaged."

Moé shook her head. "To save money, people will stuff chemicals, artificial coloring, and preserving toxins into foods. I can only eat organic things, since I'm picky about my nutrition, and the chemicals and preservatives and such make me sick." and she smiled sweetly. "I'm glad you like it. although I'm not good enough for Kura Hall, I think of myself as a pretty competent chef." ~*~ Meredith shook her head. "The new bonds eventually wither and die. To even try is to be forced into the circle of misery, again and again. And the ties never were there to begin with; they were all falsehoods." She turned away. "Like your fake relationship with the princess, which was caused by my kidnapper giving me the form of someone actually attractive."

"I understand, but would that not make the foodstuffs greater in comparison?" Caleb questioned, before taking and swallowing another spoonful of the stew.

Moé's arm twitched slightly in remorse over this conversation. "No. It forces unnecessary chemicals into your body which are detrimental to your health."
