Nobody knows for certain what set the normally calm female off; the one who was seen often laughing and playing with the other Totoma. She had sought to be alone that day, annoyed after an event that would ultimately set her on a path that would lead her to her name's journey. She had moved through the ice and snowy lands of her kin, her thoughts never letting up as they constantly reminded her of such a foul mood. In anger, the female slammed a heavy hoof upon the ground, expecting the sound of a solid thump as she attempted to release her stress...but it wasn't that heavy sound that came but instead a deafening crack. Startled, she looked down, the crack beneath her hoof starting to move in a zigzag pattern that grew faster and larger with every fleeting second. The Totoma jumped back which only caused more webings of cracked ice to form beneath her hooves as she realised her mistake quickly; she had wandered upon a frozen lake. The ice shattered before her, the female turning to run as the ice gave away behind her and it wasn't till she was well within the snowy lands that she paused, huffing and puffing as the wind escaped her lungs. The lake that had once been solid was now filled with shattered pieces of jagged ice, floating lazily upon the surface in almost a taunting manner. It was here that she became Shattered Ice, reminding her of the one time she allowed her temper to be lost and her anger to show. Her name became a constant reminder and with it, she vowed she would never allow anger to grow in her heart again.
